Feel like I have cleaned all day, it is such a thankless task. I don't actually mind cleaning, it's the endless putting away that drives me mad.....where does it all come from? I know we don't need at least half of it.....
I spoke to my sister who suggested that I work 3 days instead of 4 and cleaned on one of them and had the other day to myself - er.................no. I was thinking of working 5 days and paying someone to clean for me!
Just off to eat something, update budgets, then a chilled glass of something and bed!0 -
Oh, I would def work 5 and pay for someone else to do it!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Ooh that's my ambition too. My BIL paid for a cleaning company for my sister, but she didn't think they did a good enough job. It wouldn't bother me so long as I didn't have to do it.

I have been toying with the idea of doing 5 days in September when little DD starts school. Financially it would be the best idea, as I would clear at least another £500 a month, which would come in handy.
But......my kids are young and I feel I rarely see them as it is, so I'm leaning more towards spending that free day cultivating something that could bring in extra income. I've been very inspired by Monty's Mastercrafts the last few weeks and would prefer that rather than be shackled even more to the hamster wheel...
Cobbled together a rather boring (but low-cal :A) tuna salad and am drinking the dregs of wine that have been in the fridge for far too long - but it tastes ok, so that'll do for me0 -
I know how you feel  I have the chance to work full time next september and I am torn between the money V's the lack of family time.
I also get 14 days paid holiday a year now...and full time would only be 23...but at the moment I only need to use 2 days to have a week off.
But then I think of the money!!!!! It's hard!!LBM Total: £33356 15/11/09  £6085.63 paid

Hi Chops - TBH I'm already decided, there's no way I will squeeze family life any further. I leave at 6.30am every day so don't see them 4 days a week. That is more than enough in my book. I pick them up between 5.30 and 6, then we are all tired and tetchy, so it's not exactly "quality time".
Truth is, although it would be better financially - there IS more to life than money - of that I am sure
What are you going to do?0 -
I am kind of the same, I had to work full time last year, and also had to travel and be away from home a fair bit...and I hated it.
I was either not at home, or shattered and playing catch up whilst at home.
I think I am going to offer to work my two full days as usual. Then work two extra days school hours. I hope they go for it.
The money would be lovely, but you need some kind of balance. I just look at the amount I owe and it seams never ending.LBM Total: £33356 15/11/09  £6085.63 paid

That is the thing - the debt....
Could you not work 3 days a week - or is that too difficult to juggle? Traveling away is hard though. Years ago, before kids, I worked abroad a lot. It was fab experience and I loved it at the time, but couldn't do it now. Even a night away is too hard0 -
I am the same, a night away now is a pain...all the organising and sorting before you even leave the house! When your young and have no commitments its a fun freebie and chance to see somewhere different.
I have looked at three...but I as OH is often not here in the morning, It means putting them in breakfast club three mornings...and I am not sure the little one would cope with full time school and three early mornings....I supose there is lots of time still to decide.
I only do two days now, and I am getting a little bored......never happy me!!LBM Total: £33356 15/11/09  £6085.63 paid

For what it's worth Chops, my DD1 does 4 days of both breakfast and after school club
I did feel dreadful, but she loves it. Not sure how little DD will cope though, she's not as easy-going as her sister, but I'll deal with that when it happens.
For now though, as I finish off my second goblet of vino - I remember that I am running at 7am in the morningI'm doing a 10k next Sunday
Best go to bed..... night x0
