I've now done 43k on the Michelins (Pilot Primacy HP) and am just about down to 3mm, time to look for replacements, anyone got any recommendations for me to consider?

Car is a Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Estate.

    1mm wear every 10K miles?
    Buy the same again.
  • Winter use with Michelin Alpin tyres on same model Zafiras showed just how good a winter compound can be in the cold and wet, if you have the pockets for them then recommended.

After several winters on GoodYears and normal Michelins they proved a night and day type revelation.
Yes I have experienced those Michelin Alpin - amazing tyre in cold and wet and of course snow, but their performance on snow and ice is dependent on them having at least 4 or 5mm left so best to get them stored back in the garage now for next winter. Did that last week and put the Energy tyres back on :D.

I hit the same kind of figures on the same tyre on a Merc C Class Kompressor...205/55/16s. I Rotated them once in their life and they still performed reasonably well towards the end of their life.

After the Pilots I went for BF Goofrich Profilers... Cheaper than the Pilots and wore well but did'nt see the the mileage from them like the Mich's but I guess Cost-Miles were not that far out.

If you know someone with a Costco card have a look at Costco - they only sell Michelin Tyres and do buy 3 get the 4th free deals.

Of course it's a no brainer imho that if you like the Michelin's performance you should buy the same again - Primacy range is still available.

http://www.blackcircles.com/order/tyres/search black circles are showing £86 for V rated. ( but two tyres get a free Michelin eating out guide)

    http://www.tyre-shopper.co.uk/ts/search/SizeSearch.aspx

or tyre shopper, around £90 a corner, better than the RRP of £120, Halfords are also doing them around the same price.

Wonder why MArtin:money: doesn't do a pricechecker/dealfinder for tyres like he has for mobile phone recycling / best credit card etc.:D

Michelin are certainly giving the energy savers a good plug on tv at the moment. What was it, an extra 6000 miles over blah blah blah?
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

6K miles extra mileage per tyre, add on the 5% fuel saving you get and the value for money gets a bit better, doesn't it?

( I work in the industry, so yes I do encourage people to buy decent tyres instead of cheap things that are black and round rather than decent quality.)
