Michelin Energy Tyres

I've got a Golf Bluemotion, with Michelin eco tyres, can't complain at all with handling in the wet and snow during the winter, feel them gripping well on corners in dry or wet surface, and braking has been fine, once almost emergency braking on motorway this afternoon after some silly person came straight out of their lane in front of me. I've also done about 18k miles and still at least 4mm on all four tyres. Thanks to all the competition posters.0

OK.
There are an equal if not greater no of folks that would "suggest" otherwise.
But, Toyo tyres are a vastly underated, unfortunately they will last only 1/2 as long and therefore are twice as expensive.
Swings and roundabouts :T
I've never used Toyo's, mainly as I've seen reviews slating their grip in the wet. Mind you, I've seen good reviews as well.
I guess you'll never please all of the people all of the time!0 -
I have the same car and tyres and I'm sorry but they are crap.
I'm sure there's even worse tyres out there, but I can't wait for these to wear out (thankfully they only last about 13,000 miles) so I can try to con the company accountants into buying a different brand. They probably wont let me have Eagle F1s though
13k miles? You must drive like Lewis Hamilton, are you sure you've got the correct pressures?:A0 -
I got 20,000 on the front of mine, the back look like they'll do another 20,000 on top of that. And I drive it badly.0

Toyo make a variety of tyres. The R888 is indeed terrible in the wet. It's supposed to be as it's basically a road-legal slick tyre designed for track day cars. Anyone slagging it off for that is missing the point.0

The first 8000 miles on the first set of tyres were done by the previous owner, I ended up having to replace them at the 13000 mile mark. Replaced them as soon as they reached 2.0mm as company policy is not to replace until then. Personally I prefer to replace at 3mm unless it's summer.
Currently down to about 2.5 or 3.0mm (by eye) and 22,000 on the clock, so they're looking set for a replacement at 26,000. So either me and the previous driver are both awful, or the tyres are awful, or the car is awful. Actually that last one is a given.
It's worth noting that I commute down single track lanes every day, and have to put up with many poor quality road surfaces.
I think some of it is down to the car though. I've had longer life out of Eagle F1s on my old Subaru, though admittedly I then had to replace 4, not two of them, as they wore evenly.0 -

I don't think I'll be putting track day tyres on my mpv.
Well maybe if I take the ladders off the roof.

Exactly, if it were possible we'd all put the same tyre on all cars. Horses for courses,I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Currently down to about 2.5 or 3.0mm (by eye) .
for those who don't know what 2.5 or 3mm looks like, you need a 20 pence coin, the border on a 20p coin is the depth to check to.;) If you can see the border you need new tyres.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I've been using toyo proxes 225/45, for 10 years now, maybe more. I think they are vastly underated. Sound as a pound in the wet. Unfortunately i can't say the say same for ice and snow, but there are other factors to take into consideration.
Still its the ' best ' tyre, i can afford. Beggars can't be choosers. I think my last bill came in somewhere around £600 for all four. I had to replace them all at once, due to lack of funds, previously.Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?
