saw the title of this thread and thought "hmm that sounds like something i need" read post 1, apparently i signed up :/ my name is on the list.

Im about a stone and a half over my usual weight. Lots of probelms with food i can/cant eat so find sticking to "a diet" hard (cant have fibre etc). In fact "dieting" made me feel so poorly with my stomach I think Im having a mental block and equating "diet" with "ill" so I dont want to stick to eating healthily in case it makes me ill again.

My other problem: I really like foood!

even the imminent wedding dress fitting isnt spurring me on! I think im so happy that i finally feel well again i dont want to undo all my hard work by trying to lose weight!

I just can't get motivated but also cannot keep gaining weight!

Who can help ? What motivated you?

    Hi All!

Well done to the losers so far, wish I could pat myself on the back, but so far this month...until yesterday I've been slacking!

    Hmm! Good question!

10 years ago I lost a lot of weight. It was a very difficult time for me personally and I was feeling very low, whilst keeping all the balls in the air with the rest of my life! A neighbour lost a tremendous amount of weight and practically reinvented herself and I suppose I just thought that could be me, so that was what I did in a totally focussed way. The time was right is the only way I can explain it.

Now is a different story. I have maintained my weight loss pretty much, but still battle with a stone that comes on and I take off again. I am happy with my dress size, the problem is this extra bit of weight packs on around my middle (age thing) and I detest it. I wish I could be consistent with my weight but I'm not.

I love healthy foods, but I have fed-up weeks when I am silly with white carbs and glasses of wine like last week. The only thing I can say now is that I do pull back quite quickly now onto a more sensible plan. I had 2 social occasions to focus on last month, which motivated me to try hard as I know how much better my clothes look and feel. The beginning of Nov has been stressful at work and dreary and I've slipped into silly habits although miraculously I haven't gained. I do feel a bit bloated and puffy though. It's my birthday next week and DD and I have got a spa overnighter to look forward to and hey! guess what, I'm back on track.

SIGH! I don't think this is much help to you really! My path has been just about downwards weightwise since September, I wish I could be consistent week to week , shift these last few pounds and stay steady, which is the healthiest way.

I've always been one who never weighs myself as such - just judge by my clothes fitting. But I guess I've got the the age now (24) where you have to actually put in more effort to lose weight. I've noticed me putting on weight and moan but now to do something about it. Not put on loads but it is noticeable to me.

Also moved in with my b/f which doesn't help as he can eat whatever (and I mean whatever) he wants and not put any weight on at all :(

Not going to be on a diet as such but just make sure I eat more healthily. I work with students and give them biscuits for their breaks - which I then feel the compulsion to eat - why? I'm not even hungry! I work late hours so walking to work isn't always possible but will try when I can and am going to go swimming this weekend. Set an amount of time and count lengths and can then try and see the improvement.

Ok, my bit of a rant is over. Will keep checking this for useful advice etc

    Thanks guys!

Hi folks, just checking in quickly. Haven't weighed myself for a few days - my cat's ill and off his food ... and I'm worried about him, so I'm off my food too...

    (every cloud, I suppose!)

I'll be back on track in a day or two, I'm sure! x

Weigh in for me last night and back at 10st 5lbs, anything 10st 3lbs to 10st 6lbs will do me for weight maintenance. I think I'm starting to get a grip on calorie intake to get the weight to stay roughly still.
Actually finding a modest portion of cake, chocolate and similar a day is needed to get the calorie in take / use in balance.

    All the best.

Still stuck in a rut at 11-6lb,same as most of last month.
Have tried eating a bit more to break the stalemate but weight remains constant.
    At least I`m not gaining.

alared - Weight fluctates on a daily basis depending on how much liquid you're holding and how much food is currently being processed by your digestive system. Do you know how many calories you're consuming in a day? Do you know how many you need?

Also, if you've lost weight quickly in the past, you may be metabolising muscle as well as fat. It's best to lose weight steadily rather than suddenly. If you're using muscle for fuel you may need to do some strength training to build it up again and to make sure you signal to your body that you want to keep it. If you lose weight slowly and steadily, this is not going to be so much of a problem but it's still best to do some strength training as well as aerobic exercise.

I suggest you take a look at an online food and activity diary like FutureSelf (www_futureself_co_uk). If you've tried it already, I'd be really interested to know what you make of it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hurrah, today my meds have FINALLY been altered.

    Should help a lot. :)

Medically, things are a bit tough again but at least we are getting to grips with new problems and monitoring old ones.

This coming week WILL see a loss, by hook or by crook!
