  • oh dear thought I made sensible choices at pizza express last night - had half a portion of doughballs, half a rustica tomato, half a margharita pizza, half a bosco salad (no bread, no dressing) and just one glass of wine. This adds up to 9+2+17+20+8.5 =56.5 syns and this was me being careful!! very depressing. Especially considering we were out for breakfast and again I had what I thought was a sensible choice (porridge) but it turns out it's probably 18.5 syns. Starting to doubt whether this SW thing works, it's fine as long as I'm eating at home but when I try to eat out on it, it just doesn't work, especially since I'm veggie.

well rant sort of over, thanks f or all the advice on choc treats!

Belfast girl provided you don't eat out masses of the time, I think you just have to incorporate it into your life - don't go crazy when eating out, except on the odd occasion and then just get on with the SW plan as much as possible.

I think we do have this fear that if we have one night of eating too much, then we have blown everything and might as well just continue with that way of eating. Sabotage pure and simple.

I found it difficult eating out while following the SW plan, but fortunately it is a rare treat for me.

I have sabotaged so much (in the past) that I refuse to do so any longer. If I do eat out (which I did last Saturday), then next day I am back on plan and I still ended up losing 2 lbs, which was nice!!!

Don't worry and relax. When we relax, we have nothing to punish ourselves for and hence we don't need to look for comfort = food. Not my words, my therapists!!:)

Laughing cow cheeses are never free! They can be used as a HEA however and yes you can melt them over vegetables.:j

Thanks Retiredlady, whoops I didn't mean free,

    I did mean HE.

I came back yesterday from a two week long haul holiday(all inclusive), I haven't jumped on the scales yet thought I would leave it 'til Monday morning.

I am wearing my usual jeans so hope I haven't got a lot to lose. The last all inclusive hoilday I went on I put on 10 pounds .
I'll let you all know on Monday

    ;)

I'm starting again today, I gained 1b last week! I'm not angry with myself, what's the point?

I have a question, OH and I moving home in 3 weeks, only round the corner but of course in the days leading up to the move we won't have access to a fridge or freezer as we'll have to turn it off to defrost it and let it dry out, what the hell can I eat that's SW friendly for several days that doesn't need to be kept cool?

It is going to be difficult! I think you will have to do green days or EE. jacket potatoes & beans, tomato-based sauce, tuna & pasta, mugshots, pasta n sauce made with water, polenta, tinned ravioli, tinned spaghetti etc

yellowbird, when I was a SW member a couple of years ago often the weeks i had onion bhajis from the takeaway on the way back from the pub i'd lose weight, i'd not count these in my syns, but i think sometimes eating more on some days means your metabolism has more to process and it kinda kick starts it a bit. It's perverse but often the way it happens.

And belfastgirl I'm also veggie, and was looking up pizza express options out of interest as I often eat out there, the leggera pizzas (basically a lighter pizza with a salad in the middle) have i think about 24 syns in a whole one if i remember correctly, which is roughly the same syns in half a regular one. I've had these ones before and they're tasty and leave you feeling full. I guess when you're feeling guilty about it, it's not as if you're eating these syns on top of your usual dinner, that is your dinner, so I don't think the syns are as 'real' as if you were having them in say snacks or purely alcohol.

Things like the olives are 6 syns per serving so if you half them thats only 3, and its something to nibble while you're waiting for your main. There's also the sotto zero dessert, which works out as 9 syns, it's a kinda frozen yoghurt with berries, so if you really fancy something sweet and everyone else is having something this isnt too bad if you've been saving syns.

Thanks for this, and everyone for being so understanding about my big moan :) it's just that feeling of having been sensible but it not bearing fruit. I've been thinking about it though and I think the advice to go as easy as I can and then forget about it is probably sound (thanks Larmy) - I'm doing plenty of exercise so can afford a once a week blowout. It's just all the small choices in between times that are the killer. And thanks for all the pizza x advice melda, we eat there a LOT (DH loves pizza) so I do have to figure out a way of making it work for me. Luckily he isn't a dessert man so I don't have that as a temptation. And he is usually happy to split pizza and salad but the leggera is a good backup option too. And I basically refuse to believe the syns value in the bosco salad :)

Anyway off to try to limit myself to 2 glasses of wine :)

Oh and was thinking about the no fridge dilemma - tinned beans (of different varieties) can also be your friend - 3 bean chilli is a 'free' dinner :)

PS I just weighed myself after my shower and appear to have lost weight so maybe it does work after all :)

Hi, Just wondered if anyone has a problem with bingeing, I seem to take one bad day and then it merges into 2 then 3 and so on and then find it difficult to rein myself back in. I promise always back to basics and then wander off path, anyone else been there and how have you overcome it. Also I take migraine medication and according to the leaflet one of the possible side effects is increased in appetite which may lead to weight gain:mad: but I think I've actually convinced myself this has affected me although I don't think it has IYSWIM I think I'm using it as an excuse to keep eating. Help or advice much appreciated.

P.S. thanks for reading my little rant:rolleyes:
