just made this scan bran recipe, 5 mins in the microwave and yummy!
Scan Bran Cake
1 Healthy ‘B’ Selection and 4 syns
1 Weetabix and 4 Scan Bran
1 level tbsp. Mincemeat
1 tsp mixed spice
1 tsp cinnamon
2 level tsp honey
15g powdered sweetener
2-3 eggs, beaten
Break scan bran into small pieces then sprinkle on hot water. Leave a few minutes then break up with a fork, until scan bran resembles breadcrumbs (use extra hot water as necessary). Crumble in the Weetabix, stir in the mincemeat, spices, honey and sweetener. Mix in the beaten egg and stir well.
To cook:
Line a loaf tin with foil and spray with Frylight. Bake for 25-30 minutes in a medium oven (190c).
OR
Place in a microwavable container (or pack lunch box) and microwave on high for 5 minutes.
how many syns will it be for the whole cake if I don't have a HEB left? is it 6syns for a HEB (4 scan bran and 1 weetabix) - so 10 syns total? I've cut it into 6 and eaten 2 slices already

umm I made it with 50g rice and my DD had a little with me but it was a full bowl same quantity as I'd normallly have of oat so simple. maybe I'll add some banana next time to see if that helps me stay fuller for longer.ollyredcat wrote: »This time of year makes me really restless, i want things i cant have, i'm hungry but when i eat i dont really want it,i want to stay home and read, but when i do i ling to be out, its like i have a deep life itch that i just cant scratch i'm the same in spring when the season changes again too( probably makes no sense to anyone else lol i am rambling again).
Mummydumpling i think your right its probably the pregnancy and the weather making you more hungry.
Have not seen fernliebee post for a while hope she is ok.
It makes sense to me Olly as I feel similar.
I was only thinking about fernliebee this morning too, I think I've seen her posting over on the pregnancy thread so maybe she's just having a break from SW
I've had a lovely tea of braising steak (done in the slow cooker with thick gravy as I blitzed the veggies I cooked with the steak which thickened up lovely so I didn't need to use any granules) with mash and green beans - was yummy and filling and just what I've been craving
then I made the scan bran cake I posted above and have polished off 2 slices with a cuppaMum of 7 (aged 14y to 1y)

I do have Alpen Lite bars at my work just now (and I would quite like one! lol) and was wondering if I'll lose weight by sticking by the plan but just not eating any syns?
S x
But then you wouldn't be sticking to the plan! The syns are there for a purpose not as a reward for being good so you don't have to take them away if you've been 'bad'. Making plans to cut down on syns over the next few days after a 'blow-out' is taking you further and further from the whole ethos of Food Optimising and sometimes it can be hard to get back.
If you go off plan, the best way to deal with it is to forget it and move on. Make sure you plan better in the future so that you're not caught out without SW-friendly food in the cupboards.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
might give this a go for tomorrow
fruit breakfast recipe:
Get a tupperware box, put some scan bran in the bottom, fill with some frozen fruits and then a mullerlight yoghurt. Put it in the fridge overnight and in the morning stir it all up together. It looks like a right mess but tastes delicious!
I just need to count the syns for the scan bran right?
if it doesn't work I might give a bigger portion of breakfast rice a shotMum of 7 (aged 14y to 1y)
