Can I ask, how many syns is in a can of irn-bru? I don't drink alcohol so that's what I usually have when I'm chillaxing.

Jen diet Irn bru is free. Im not sure of full fat Irn bru, id steer well clear of all full sugar fizzy drinks.

EDIT - just checked online, Irn Bru isnt on it but coke and Fanta are all 7-71/2 syns per 330ml can

Wow didn't know you could make gnocchi without flour, might well give it a go tomorrow, think I have most of the ingredients in stock :) thanks for this. Wonder if I chopped my leftover cabbage well would it do instead of spinach :)

Oh I am definitely hungry now!!

I made this recipe a while back and it was very tasty. Its definently not the same as proper gnocchi as it lacks that nice texture. Its more like a potato bake, but very yummy.
Theres a brilliant recipe for spicy bubble and squeak patties in the 40th anniversary book. You have this with spicy beans and spring onions and a poached egg, it is to die for. If you want the recipe ill dig it out and post it here. Its a great way to use left over cabbage.

I think porridge is definitely worth a HEb, I make a bowl of it (28grm) with water then add a mullerlight or other free yoghurt and some chopped fruit and a little sweetener, it's really filling and sooooo yummy!

Oh yes please, that sounds LUSH!!

I had a relatively good day yesterday but the evening turned out rubbish. I had 4 ryvita (heab) with egg mayo (extra light and synned) when I went to bed. I know I synned it all but I was eating at a time of night when I shouldnt, its part of the pattern I am trying to break as I used to go to bed with pockets full of bad things to eat while I was reading my book. All in I had 12.5 syns yesterday, 4 sppent on vegie chilli but the rest on more bread and mayo - need to change my habits.

Bubble and squeak cakes with egg and spiced beans.
    serves 4
    Green free, EE free

    2lb/908g Potatoes, peeled and chopped
    3 1/2 oz /100g Kale or cabbage
    1 large egg yolk
    salt and pepper
    fry light
    4 spring onions, finely chopped
1 red chilli deseeded and finely chopped
    2x400g cans baked beans
    2 tsp curry powder
    4 eggs

    1. Boil the potatoes until just tender, drain and mash. Blanch the kale/cabbage until slightly wilted. Drain and add to the potatoes. Leave to cool before adding the egg yolk. Season and mix. Cover and chill for 3-4 hours.

2.Preheat the oven to 220 c/425 f/Gas 7. Divide the potato mixture into 8 portions and shape into a 'cake'. Place onto a baking try and spray with fry light. Bake for 12-15 mins or until cooked and golden.

3.Meanwhile, place the spring onion, chilli, beans and curry powder in a pan and heat through. Fry or poach the eggs.

    4. Serve the bubble and squeak cakes with the spiced beans and egg.

Note, this has to chill for 3-4 HOURS. I didnt notice the first time and shoved them in the freezer for half and hour, they were fine. I also just used left over already cooked savoy cabbage. I just added this to the potato. I also just halved the mix to give us 2 cakes/patties each. Only had 1 tin of beans, Still had 2 eggs though YUM.

Thanks for that Nic, its sounds lovely. I'm going to do my food shop today so will put some cabbage on the list as normally wouldnt buy one. Am planning on having this tomorrow night for dinner.

I sat and read my SW books cover to cover last night, have learnt more about super foods and really need to work hard on incorporating more of them in my daily meals. I find it hard to eat fruit when its cold, veg isnt a problem as can eat it cooked and its lovely but my teeth cringe (does that even make sense?) when I think about eating cold fruit.

I bought a bag of frozen cabbage for recipes like that asI'd never eat a whole cabbage on my own - thanks nic - sounds brill!

Had marions rice for breakfast with a banana & a satsuma
Lunch; chilli bean soup - with same fruit again that I haven't had yet though it had lots of tomato & onion already in it.
Dinner; roast lamb at Mums (waiting for OH to dig his car out and get here!)
Dessert; while they're all having apple crumble with mincemeat & sugar/breadcrumbs, I've got a yoghurt and an Alpen Light bar! :D
