Im giving EE another try, as everyone seems to be doing it. i tried it when it came out and I didnt lose much and i gave up. But my OH likes his meat and the kids like stews and stuff, so going to go for it to keep dinner times easier. I will miss that extra bread though. I dont fancy wasting 6 syns on 2 slices of bread.
Oh made a lovely syn free (EE) chilli last nigh, so we had that with a baked tattie. Theres loads left for lunch time today.
so on my 3rd EE day in a row im having -
brekkie - 2 x Bowyers sausages (2 syns), turkey rashers, eggs and beans
lunch - chilli and rice, salad (free)
dinner - Teriaki beef stir fry, noodles (free)
snacks, loads of fatsumas (thats what my 2 year old ds calls them) bananas and ive got a lovely cantaloupe melon ill chop up and graze on through the day.
supper - toast and a kit kat with a cuppa (heb, 5 1/2 syns):santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Hi Nic2075
Where do you get the Boyers sausages? I've heard of them but have checked our Morrisons and Somerfield and they don't seem to have them.
Thanks
Lola
I get mine in Tesco - they also do their own brand of low fat sausages which I find quite nice and cheaper than the Bowyers!

You will need:
1 butternut squash, peeled, cored and cut into chunks
1 large onion, chopped
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon curry powder (or more if you lke things very spicy)
2 vegetable stock cubes in 2 pints boiling water
Put everything in a large pan and bring to the boil. Lower the heat and simmer for ½ hour. Blend and serve.

I can confirm that this soup is fantastic and so creamy and filling! I don't bother peeling the squash though - give it a good wash and the skin will soften when cooked and once blended you won't even notice. It once took me over 15 minutes to peel a squash! Life is too short:rotfl::rotfl::D!

I do agree with you Marion and have used it unpeeled on occasion as I think it probably adds to the fibre content of the soup. The skin on this one was a bit scabby looking though and that's why it had to come off. I only used a potato peeler though, one thin skin taken off is plenty and it only took me a minute or two.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Well a good start to the day as I have just had melon for breakfast which was gorgeous. Now the big decision is whether to make a batch carrot or potato and leek soup. We're off out to friends for a curry tomnorrow night so decided that a day of damage limitation is needed and gonna try my best to stick to 5 syns.
PS Decided not to have that choc biccie last night after all and opted for a Muller Light - one is just never enough!0 -

For a quick, tasty drink when it's bitterly cold out (like now) I have a beef Oxo crumbled into a mug of hot water. It just seems to hit the spot and they're syn-free now.
my grandma used to give is to me before school when it was cold weather!0 -
please could someone tell me the syns in a (big!) teaspoon of syrup?0

Hi all you 'oldies' and welcome to the January joiners :hello:
Well I managed to get out of the house yesterday & over to my parents where I stayed the night - nice not to be trapped in the house anymore! Will be going back this afternoon before making a decision as to whether to brave picking OH up from the airport. His other option is to get a taxi & put it on expenses but I'm a bit worried they'll tell him to move if he starts costing them more money
Managed to get my fruit yesterday so am trying to get stuck into EE but it's really hard to think of veggies first and free food 2nd. In this weather I just want to eat pasta with baked beans & not worry about the 1/3 veg (or fruit!)
Just had egg, beans & leftover mash for brunch (will have some grapes, banana & a satsuma in a min), lunch (if I want it) is chilli bean soup (will have some fruit with that too), then dinner is mash (hmm didn't think this one out did I!), green beans, carrots & chicken. My syns & HEx's always get used even if I don't plan for them0 -
