  • thanks briggers!

    i'm a bit worried about xmas, our work meal is on the 23rd and the boss wants us to stick around for drinks after and then xmas just being two days later is going to be hard to be hard going! i think i'm just going to try and be as good as i can on the days before and on xmas eve and back onto it on boxing day!
  • Hi all,
    I know, Laura. I've been starting to think about Christmas too. Like how i'm actually pretty impressed with my willpower re chocolates and food generally. I mean, I've recently been eating sad little SW quiches and such for tea whilst the rest of my family dig in to takeaways and so on.......:confused:But I'm proud I've been discilplined anough to do so and i think food-wise I am confident I can resist the naughty stuff this christmas and gorge instead on healthy soups, turkey. vegetables, melons, ham, gammon........no probs!

    Now drink:beer: on the other hand.....well, I just can't see myself being able to pass up on mulled wine! That will be my downfall, I'm sure of it!
  • oh no, i forgot about the possibility of being offered cheeses and port too this Xams.........
    Scrumdiddlyumptious or what

    Well, i think I will keep SWing one day at a time for now and see how I feel about Christmas when the time comes. Of course I might be totally uncorruptible by then, spurred on by losing 7lbs between now and then (fingers crossed!) and will actually WANT to eat scan bran cake when others are having mince pies and cream..(dream on!)

    My target is to get to Club ten by Xmas.(7lbs to lose I think)...I can't wait as I'm hoping my weight loss will actually be noticeable by then. So far not many people have noticed and I think positive comments from otherd will spur me on.

    Anyone else remember how much they lost before it became really obvious to others and for clothes etc.?

    Just found the this from last Christmas - hope you enjoy it (and it's syn-free):

    Christmas Cake

    Ingredients:

    1 cup of water
    1 tsp baking soda
    1 cup of sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1 cup of brown sugar
    lemon juice
    4 large eggs
    Nuts
    1 large bottle rum
    2 cups of dried fruit

    Method:

    Sample the rum to check quality;
    Take a large bowl, check the rum again;
    To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink;
    Repeat;
    Turn on the electric mixer;
    Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl;
    Add one teaspoon of sugar;
    Beat again;
    At this point it's best to make sure the rum is still OK;
    Try another cup .... just in case. Turn off the mixerer;
    Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit;
    Pick fruit off floor;
    Mix on the turner;
    If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers pry it loose with a drewscriver;
    Sample the rum to check for tonsisticity;
    Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Who gives a stuff;
    Check the rum;
    Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts;
    Add one table;
    Add a spoon of sugar, or whatever you can find;
    Greash the oven;
    Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over;
    Don't forget to beat off the turner;
    Finally, throw the bowl through the window and finish the rum.

    CHERRY MISTMAS!

    I currently weigh 10 stone 8, far too heavy for my tiny frame (I'm only 4ft 11!)

    I'd love to be 10 stone by my birthday in 5 weeks time, is that doable? providing of course I stick to plan and don't lose the plot like I did this weekend?

    Liz bar an extra half inch in height, I am exactly the same as you. It is not very comfortable is it? I got down to 9 stone 8 about a year ago and felt really good. To my great shame I thought I should be about 9 stone and could not achieve that so gave up. This is the last time I am doing this, putting on and taking off a stone. It is my firm resolve.

    Perhaps we should encourage each other?
