Hey miemie, just read your first post and have to say that you sound like a fab Mum!!! Kids don't need fancy gifts and gadgets. They need time, patience, understanding, fun and love! All of which you have been giving them :)

    Hi

Love this forum everyone is so supportive, thankyou :D.

Have done meal plan for rest of week, so don't need to enter a supermarket.

    Wed-beef casserole,mash & veg.
Thurs- Jkt spuds, beans & cheese
Fri- kiddies at Grandmas for the night- might treat hubby to meal out its payday.
    Sat- fish chips and peas
    sun- pasta bake.

will also do some baking so that there is some nice treats to eat, have a crumble made in freezer so will have that one night as well:D.

Going out tonight to a Body shop party, really don't want to go, but its a friend who is having it and she has asked me 3 times this week if i'm going and i have just had a text from her so think she wants the support, its just some of the yummy mummys will be there, will hold my head up high and not get into silly competitive conversations, also only taking £20 cash with me do need a xmas present for younger sister but that is it and i'm not spending for the sake of it.

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Hi miemie,

Just wanted to second what everyone else has been saying - you sound like a great mum. Kids definitely prefer time and love and fun from thier parents, they really aren't as materialistic as you think.

Those other people are either earning a shedload of money, in which case it is not realistic to keep up, or more likely are up to thier eyeballs in debt. Good for you for not being like them, staying away will get easier given time. Have you given any thought to either making some new more-MSE friends or looking up old ones?

    Good luck xx

    Hi katy and thanks,
My best friend is very like me more so even, she is very enviromental, grows her own veggies etc, but she is away at the moment visiting rellies so missing her like mad and don't have her to have a good moan to and put the world to rights, will be glad when she is back next week.

I try to spend lots of time with my children and i am lucky that i only work during term time, so spend all the holidays with them:eek::D, I work with children and often see the effects of selfish parents.

I think you sound like an incredibly sorted person that your children will be proud of as they grow up :)

Enjoy the cinema & if there's ever spare food going at dinnertime can I come round too? :D
