    Hey everyone,

    Hope you're all doing well.

I called into local supermarket near work yesterday for something for lunch and as I was mooching around the meat counter I realised it compares really well with the local butchers and sells local meat too. So stocked up for the week - FR chicken £5.77, shin beef £1.71, pork belly (rare breed, local) £2.67, mince £2.50 and lamb liver 60p also got other bits n bobs total £18.39. Will need to get some veg, bread and milk but trying to hold off till tomorrow.

Had HM broccolli soup for lunch today - rest of family turned up their noses but I thought it was yummy so have divided the rest into portions to take to work for lunch in the week. Have had a clear out in the fridge and found 2 opened tins of tuna, got some toms need using and some grated cheese so I'm thinking tuna pasta bake for tea:)

Need to get some baking done for lunchboxes, will do that tomorrow methinks.

Anyway off to do some cleaning (exciting weekend for me;))

Hi everyone, just a quick update from me. This week has gone a bit pear shaped as DH had to go back into hospital on Thursday and was kept in overnight. He's home now but a bit fragile and we aren't visiting friends as planned tomorrow as he won't be able to stay awake that long! Never mind, we are eating from the freezer. I did a quick shop in Sainsbury's today for F&V and milk (and a bottle of wine!) and have updated my signature. I have £35 for the last shop of the month which should be next Thursday - but as we have to go back to the hospital for an ultrasound scan then I might try and last out until Saturday. Am feeling fairly tired as he's having to sleep on his back which means lots of snoring which is keeping me awake! I might go for the spare room tonight!

    Hope everyone is doing ok.

    Love Moniker

Moniker Hope that DH is ok soon.

JayneC Can I ask which supermarket you used? Unless its one peculiar to your neck of the woods if you see what I mean ;) I'd love to find one locally that has local butcher compared prices & meat in so well done you :T

Moniker, hope your oh is well again soon

I'm in my new flat, still surrounded by boxes, tired but happy :) I have broadband again thank goodness, I checked in quickly a couple of times on dial up but it was sooooo slow so I didnt try to post.

I've had to shop locally this week (in our very poorly-stocked and over-priced c00p); not keeping a record of spends as it'll be too  but I'm planning an online shop of necessities for next week so that should keep spends down

hope all are safe from floods and having a good weekend :j

    Evening all!

Glad your move went well rosieben

Still struggling in 'damage limitation mode' at the moment:confused:

Had to go Christmas Shopping today (thank goodness this does not come out of my GC as well), but I think I did ok, didn't go on a wild spree, but I would have liked to.:rotfl:

Had to buy the offer from MrA for Baileys (again for Xmas) but this will come out of my sealed pot when I open it.

Also bulk bought loo rolls and kitchen rolls (all good offers) which I've decided will come out of next months GC as that is when most of them will be used and although I try to keep inside the monthly GC amount it will be the annual one that I want to keep closest to (hmmmm, over that one as well:o)

Wonder how many other ways I can find to justify my overspending ......

Pulled two portions of HM Lasagne out of the freezer for dinner tonight, so avoided overspending further on takeaway. Too exhausted to cook properly after all that shopping!

  • Completely over budget, not like me but I think we had used up about everything in the house. Just spent £119.74 in one shop. This did include some Christmas things like selection boxes, advent calendar. Also lots of Weight Watchers stuff for husband who has had a health scare and needs to lose weight. Also we had guests to dinner last night. To be honest I was very tired, not a good time to go shopping.

I made a lovely triffle and cake for pudding, all the cake has gone but I still have most of the triffle and we can't eat it because of dieting. Any suggestions what I can do with it? (It has fresh cream on top)
  • I have been horribly absent so far this month, due to personal stuff going on and not having enough me to go round all the forums I usually frequent. :-(

On the other hand, we're halfway through the month and I have amazingly only spent £89.36 so far!!! This will go up next week as I need to do a stocking-up Tesco order but I'm hopeful that I will come in under £300 for the month. I kind of need to as we are very, very short on spending money again.

At least Christmas is catered for under a separate budget and I have £175 saved up for that so I don't have to worry about that!

  • hi everyone,

apoligies for my absence this month. Have had a pretty awful two weeks health wise but hopefully I am on the road to recovery now. Have tried to catch up on what I missed but don't think I'll ever have time to sit down and read over twenty pages.

Anyway hope everyone is coping with their GC. I have spent about half of my budget so far but cupboards and freezer are bulging. I must learn to balance my buying with my eating. Just can't resist the bargains and then have nowhere to store them. Even under the stairs is full now. My mum however is happy with the food parcels I give her.
Shouldn't need to buy much Christmas fayre next month apart from some little Christmas delights as I have plenty of meat, fish and poultry already in.

Will try to read posts more frequently for the rest of the month.

Have just added up my total, but not sure it's right as haven't been keeping track. I do know I haven't been shopping much, so it can't be that far out!

I have meals planned for next week and i'm then away for the weekend, so should only really need some veg and milk.
