Tesco shop today, had to walk so just had DGS buggy to put shopping on which meant I couldn't get too much. Did manage to spend £17.75 on not very much at all tho. This did include paracetamol, ibuprofen and cough mixture cos I'm feeling poorly (and ever so slightly sorry for myself:(). Still don't have any cooked meat for sandwiches - tho having chicken today so can use leftovers, plus have tuna, cheese and eggs so that will have to do. Have baked Twinks hobnobs and rock buns for lunchboxes too. Don't have any yoghurts but have fruit so we can live without - at least until later in the week.
Well off to make dinner - roast chicken with roast spuds, carrots and veg. and making apple crumble for afters (with custard).

Thanks everyone for your good wishes - DH is on the mend I think. I have to go back to work tomorrow and as he doesn't cook (!) I have made a huge batch of soup in the SC to see him through the next day or so. I also made marmelade today (down to our last half jar!) and a roast chicken lunch (also with apple crumble Jayne C!)
Yesterday I made a tray bake cake and use a new non-stick tin to which, of course, the bottom of the cake got stuck! The cake was delicious - made with butter as I had no marg, and I am loathe to throw away the crumbs which I scrapped off the bottom of the tin. Anyone got any ideas how to use these? I thought I could sprinkle them over ice-cream, but any other suggestions would be welcome.
Glad your move went well Rosieben.
Love to all

It appears that in spite of planning and shopping around, I'm still going over budget. It's very frustrating!
I could have managed another week on what was already in the house, and just bought milk and bread, but I wanted some vegetables and fruit. It feels like we've been eating less of these since I've tried to be more strict with budget, and I was concerned that we need more variety. I've also decided to have a salad kick for a few weeks as I've been eating a lot of cheap packet things for lunches and I'm starting to put on weight, which is bad as I still have about 2 1/2 stone to lose.
Anyway, I will master this all eventually. I keep having to remind myself that four months ago we were spending up to £800 on groceries and takeaways, so we have made a BIG improvement. :j

Hi
I've slightly improved upon last week and spent £43.92 this week. Shall aim to bring it down just a tad more next week and so on. Am not including the Christmas snacks I'm picking up as this comes from a separate pot. Still more work to do but baby steps needed:D

Back from hols and have managed to sleep off the jet lag - 10 hours solid kip, couldn't move when I woke up:eek:
Spent £3 on sausage and chips from the chippy last night - no food in the house as DS has been dog sitting for the last 7 days. So today I have been to Morrisons and bought a few bits, plus some chocs for Christmas. I have not declared a GC target for this month but will go for £100 for the last two weeks as I have to stock up again with all the food that DS ate.
I have also just realised that I haven't planned Christmas at all so will have to get going on that.
Back to work tomorrow (really not looking forward to that) so will have to get pack up sorted out.
Glad the move went well rosieben.0 -
