  • hello all,
well, I planned to go shopping today and have my list and meals planned for the week - but I'm feeling really ropey with the first cold of the season, so this will be a nsd! As I've only just joined the challenge I've had a think back and realised that I have very few nsd's so need to try and address that - that must be the black hole where I thought my cash went!
    LBM 1.1.16 = £27096.59 - now £17,020.38

    Paydbx 2017 - £3588.90/£7000 = 51.27% - number 74

    Paydbx 2016 - £6487.31/£7000 = 92.67% - number 74

Haven't been on here for a few days, so have quite an updates to give.

Hada a big Mr T on-line shop delivered on Tuesday night, it came to £152.95, but got a refund of £10.84 for the salmon they didn't have. It is big spend, but I made over £50 savings with reductions and BOGOFF deals. Got enough wine to do us over the Christmas period and give some as pressies. Also went to local greengrocers for some F&V and eggs (£1.99 for a dozen F-R!). Popped into Mr M for my first solo supermarket shop in 2009, it took ages, but I managed to get loads of whoopsied stuff, including a very large happy chicken for £3! I spent £40.55 there including the spaghetti I went there for.

So I have spent a large amount of the monthly budget already, but the freezer, fridge and cupboards are groaning with all the food we have. I am really pleased with lots of meal plans in my head, I just have to get them down on paper!

Made 4 bacon & egg quiches yesterday as well as four loaves of wholemeal bread. It was quite a feat of packing to get them 3 of each of them into the freezer. DS2 helped by taking out some buns and a fruit loaf to be munched over the weekend. I have a pack of mince that didn't get frozen to make some burgers (4 already in freezer) and some meatballs, having these tonight, but freezing the burgers.

Now really must go and get some crab-apples prepared and cooked for straining overnight to make jelly tomorrow...more Xmas pressies!

I was going to write my first meal plan today, but I'm ill with a cold and as I also feel queasy planning food is the last thing I want to be doing! I've had two NSDs (only due to being ill and being stuck at home) and I really don't think I can face the supermarket tomorrow so maybe I'll even have a third :) Spent nearly £18 so far this month on food and drink which is more then I was hoping for, so staying on target for £100 may be more difficult then I first thought! MrA have sent me a free delivery code so I might go with MrA for my online shop this month instead of mrT.....although I have to spend £50 to get free delivery

  • Hi all

I went a bit over in october but gonna be on budget this month by cooking from freezer and storecupboards as much as possible. In the past few weeks, have been using up frozen veg in stir frys, had a couple of pizza nites, fed a few visitors - so getting there! Still got load of stuff in to use. Gonna do roast veg and pasta in a pesto sauce tomorrow, having asda 20p baked potatoes today!

Going for £300 in November - spent £20 in asda, £12 in home bargains, and £3 on bread and milk, £5 on chicken breast, DH spent £10 in lidl on fruit so £50 this week already! Will try to have NSDs over the weekend if I can!

On Monday I will make a 5 day storecupboard mealplan and try to stem the flow a bit!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

Just a quick HEADS UP. MrT is selling Marmite in such a way that it is cheaper to buy 2x125g jars than a1x250g.
    Will update totals later. HTH.

When I was in Aldi I noticed they had the squeezy marmite 200g for £1.50ish (it might have been less, but no more than £1.60), which works out cheaper I think.
Anyway, spent £6.33 in Aldi for parmigiano, peppers and other veg. Running total is now £36.38, and another week begins...
My hopeful target of £200 looks possible from here :D.

    It's only a game
