helen how do you work this out is it the original price minus the discount prise which gives you the saving (sorry to proberbly ask stupid q's) well my excuse is I have just supervised 11 kids at a party and rather tired......but on the upside I had dinner made for me and little one so no dinner needed lol. If I have it right I might start doing the whoopies value as I always make a beeline for the clearance section in Mr t's and grab stuff like a crazy woman lol.
Hi - not a stupid question at all, trouble is, my brain is in menopause mode so forgive me if explanation is rubbish!!
Whoopsie spend = what I actually paid Example £1
Real Value = The original price Example £10
Whoopsie saving = is the diff between the 2 Example £9
I'm having such probs with brain at the mo - I've been bugging Tesco's staff about a DVD that I thought was out [would of staked the kiddies lives on it!!!] only to find out on a thread here that its not due out till 27.11 and that it was printed in big letters on the statement that I had 2 days ago but I didn't see it:o:o Also struggling to remember ANYTHING - I keep having to write everything down that I need to do. DH, bless him, thinks its all very funny - at least he does at the mo but if this continues I'm gonna be a very annoying person to live with, serves him right for marrying me at our time of life :rotfl:

Also bread... usually one loaf from the supermarket with the other shopping & that's it, till next time. When we run out, we run out. We'll just have leftovers, pasta or a jacket spud for lunch. Is this odd?
The same with veg. I'm not sure if we're odd or not! There are only 2 adults to feed here, but still
We go through at least a pint a day, as we have a 4 year old and a 5 year old.
There's no way we could use other stuff for lunch, hubby and 5 year old take pack up.
I'm doing terrible with my budget. I can do cheap evening meals, its everything else that seems to cost a fortune. If we ate crap it would be sooo much cheaper, but proper healthy food costs so much more, especially fresh fruit and veg. I'm getting really fed up.

Our second weekend on our 'controlled' food budget and our first major shop:
Coop - £84
Butchers - £25
Chicken feed - £10
We have a meal plan which I stuck to when shopping - then came home and cooked liver & bacon for us tonight, DD had sausages in onion gravy, Brisket tomorrow, jacket potatoes with chilli Mon, HM chicken & vegetable pie Tue, Prawn Curry Weds, Cottage pie thurs. All dishes cooling ready for the freezer. Piece of Gammon to have an alternative for DD when we have curry, and to provide cooked meat for sandwiches.0 -
hi everyone, hope all is going well for you all. weekly shop again slightly over by £1. 35p. so that means nearly £4 over in two weeks, i will catch it up lol heres to another week of menu planning and no spending till next saturday . good luck all0

Since the beginning of the month big shop over two weeks ago I have only spent a further £13. My total spend at this point in the month (ie half way through) has never been this low, even when I have been running a much lower budget.
Partly this is because I don’t really need anything & there isn’t actually space in the larder or freezers to put much:o, but also because the last week I have had a ghastly cold with a total loss of appetite, so the last thing I wanted to think about was food.
I am now working on the list for a moderate top up shop to do on Monday, which should take us through the last two weeks to the end of the month, other than milk. It is currently coming in at less than £40 on mysupermarket, so there would be about a further £30 for the rest of the month, which would more than cover any good whoopsies I might see.
BTW MrT currently has the four pack of Heinz baked beans on offer at £1, but only until tomorrow! We don’t get through enough baked beans & we are not hung up on Heinz, so it is not worth a special trip. But someone might find this useful. We had the ‘discount brand’ at 29p a can on toast for brunch today & they are fine.
Also the four pack of Napolina canned tomatoes are still on offer at £2 until Monday, but the individual cans are now on offer at 49p each until 24 November. And the John West fruit cocktail is 43p a can regular price against the ‘discount brand’ fruit cocktail at 47p a can.0 -
Hi all,
Just a quick sig update, been to Mr M today, £46.87 shop, which should last for the next 10 days of meals. My best bargains were a chicken whoopsied to £1.49, and a large whole rainbow trout for £1. Only problem is that I had to take the kiddies and they were badgering me about everything - I managed to get away with just spending £1 on sweets though, rather good considering! I just didn't realise how much I probably spent on junkie extras that they ask for on previous trips!
Anyway, all in all a good trip, so hopefully I am on course to stay within my budget!:DLBM 1.1.16 = £27096.59 - now £17,020.38
Paydbx 2017 - £3588.90/£7000 = 51.27% - number 74
Paydbx 2016 - £6487.31/£7000 = 92.67% - number 740 -
I have fallen off the grocery challenge wagon completely and have fallen back into lots of bad habits..... so hope to try and organise myself better and get back on track.
Ive spent lots of money already. on food this month and it is only the 8th November!!!! Im well stock on tinned items though, pasta, rice etc so I know I wont go hungry!!! Its all well and good doing a meal plan, its sticking to it thats the problem!!!!
I had a home delivery shop yesterday and sadly the kind people at pat your back pocket supermarket delivered pot roast brisket instead of the beef roasting joint I had chosen. It wasnt that it was substituted - I would have sent it back if I had known, simply they picked up the wrong thing in the supermarket. Anyway, Im not a confident cook and have no idea how to cook brisket..... can anyone offer me any suggestions? It says pot roast so I guess I could stick it in a large pot but have no idea where to start? A project for next weekend I think....0 -

Do you have a slow cooker? Cooked this way will help to keep the meat moist and tender.
If not, place a choice of vegetables in the bottom of roasting tin and some stock in too. Cover with foil and steam roast in oven.
Small spend today for £7.12, just essentials ie milk and bread.
