    Hi everyone,

Have updated my sig to include school dinners for the 3 children for the whole of November, plus a couple of spends this week in MrT. Will have to be very inventive with the money I have left as I need to stretch this to 8 evening meals for 5 of us, plus f&v and breakfast cereal should we need any.

Got some bakery whoopsies today which included some naan breads, so one meal will just involve buying a curry sauce as have prawns and rice already.

Have a day at home tomorrow so will try to make carrot and lentil soup for the first time, plus some twinks (a firm fave of ours).

I have had a NSD today. Spent £5 on two ham shanks yesterday. I have frozen one and with the other I have made a huge broth that will do about three meals. I plan to bag it up and store it in the freezer.

Hi synonymous. Welcome. Can I suggest you ask for a freezer on Freegle/Freecycle. That would be a saving straight away.

  • I notice that many of you talk of whoopsies.... does any yellow label count as a whoopsie or is it just a really cheap (10p etc) that counts?

For me it means anything I buy at a reduced price due to sell-by date. It can be a saving of as little as 10% or as much as 90% depending on the time of day and store.

  • Cool. So I bought a leg of lamb off the meat counter last night that was worth £24 and I bought it for £7 :D that would be my whoopsie :D

Today I picked up my free range brisket (feeds 8) from the butcher for £12.26. Then went to Tesco Express and bought 18 KitKats (for pack lunch and park) and plums - £3.
Also spent 23p on penny sweets. So that's a total spend of £15.49. That leaves £269.38 in the budget.

    Evening

Spent 11.72 today after saying yesterday that I would limit my daily shops to £5. Not today!

In my defence nothing was an impulse buy and everything will get eaten. Not many whoopsies though - I think I'm going to the shop too early.

The relations are coming down over the weekend so I will spend a bit but I have decided to have a storecupboard week starting on Monday to try and slow things down a bit.
