Still managed to spend my £8 quota today - just on basics - bread, milk, eggs, bananas, oats and a cucumber.

I did make a cake this evening instead of buying one and I wouldn't buy any leeks for my veg stew as Tesco only had the expensive packs left. This thread is doing it's work!

One tactic I have now is not to take my purse when I go to pick up DD2 from school. And I think I will try and put a £5 limit on my morning top-up shop. NSD's are unheard of here I'm afraid!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

£15 added to my total, some meat and dishwasher tablets.
I'm trying hard not to do any shopping until after the weekend. I find it very difficult having a nearly empty fridge, even though I have meal planned, and can def get us through to Sunday, with just a few pounds at the farm shop for veg.

I did do a more detailed post twice and the computer crashed twice so third time lucky. I have £284.87 left in my budget and I have spent £165.13 to date. A sizeable amount of this sum was spent on sweets, cakes, ice cream and coke. None of which is good for our health or our pocket. Plan to do better from now on.
  • 2nd NSD in a row, but its stops here as Mr T is coming this morning with my weekly shop. I miss having a freezer so much, but am on the move soon so I am going to wait until I have moved to get one.

On the plus side my shop should come under budget

Hi everyone - it's Thursday so it must be Moniker! Have done my weekly shop in Sainsbury's and spent a bit more than my weekly target of £40 as we have visitors this Sunday. However I have about £70 left for two more shops and that should be do-able!

Next week is a bit odd for us as DH is going into hospital for an angiogram/angioplasty (they may insert a stent to open up a blocked artery) and so food plans are uncertain for Weds/ Thurs as I don't know what he'll feel like - probably survive on soup! The following weekend we are visiting friends on Sunday so that saves a meal too.

Anyway, I have to go to work earlier than usual today for a meeting, so I'd better get off and get on. Catch up with you all later.

    Love Moniker

rosieben - good luck with the move, remember bend your knees when lifting those boxes.;)

Just been to Tesco, not been for ages but fancied a change of scenery and after checking out what I wanted on mysupermarket I thought I 'd be cheaper there. They have British Pork shoulder on offer at £2.22 a KG, British Pork Mince 750g packs at 2 for £5, 1.2kg bags of Carrots BOGOF and 2.5kg bags of Potatoes at BOGOF, most of these I needed anyway so was pleased.

In a hurry at the moment so will update total later but just wanted to quickly log on and let you know of these offers - see you later.:D

  • Hi all,
I wonder if I could join in the November challenge, if its not too late?

This will be my first time, so I am looking forward to giving it a go! I have only spent on my organic veg/fruit box delivery so far this month, and have a few bits and bobs in the freezer and cupboards, so am aiming for £275 this month, which I'm hoping will feed my, dh, dd (9) and ds(7), plus a few small pets. Previously the best I have managed it £350, but I'm hoping to cut it down with the help of those fantastic recipes on page 1!
