    5 for today (Fri).

    1) Went to my friend's house as she has become overwhelmed with housework. Did 3 hours of ironing for her but got a lovely sandwich, slice of HM cake and lots of cups of tea.

    2) Boys mainly jolly, smaller son has spent hours writing a story.

    3) Baked potatoes, beans and cheese for tea.

    4) Have booked us on to a family canoeing day in August. You have to be 8+ and it's the day after smaller son's 8th birthday!

    5) My birthday tomorrow - some cards in the post today. :-)

    6) Bigger son got a level 5c in his maths test which is pretty good as he is 10. :-)

Texted MrN last night to ask him what is going on/what he wants etc. Guess what - no reply!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRITH!!!:j:T:beer::bdaycake:_party_:hello::dance:
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening

Ladyhawk & CCP - Get better NOW
    Frith -_party_ Happy birthday _party_

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Big pile of ironing done this morning before work
    2. Hour in the garden tonight, bit more cleared. It was raining lightly but decided to just get on with it
    3. DD met me from work so we could buy her a sketch book for art. Remembered a small gallery near us that sells art supplies so went there and got a £1 off as the man didn't hear us in the shop until we shouted. Discount for honesty.
    4. Went to Waitrose and bought strawberries to take with us to Wimbledon tomorrow.£2 for a large punnet rather than £2.50 for a small bowl there :money:
    5. Fake away RTC pizza with DD washed down with a glass of wine.

Hugs to all who need them

Strange day, so please can I start with a couple of OS not pleasures of the day?

Row at school, over polo shirts!! Do sometimes think that life is too short but hey ho. Couldn't get them to see that letting children wear white polo shirts, which are 3 for a fiver in most supermarkets, was fairer than now insisting on coloured ones with logo, which are £9.99 each!

Missed out on the whole Ocado/ crowdity voucher, but as they both now have my details spent the day getting e-mails from them about other things:mad:

And the balancing all important pleasures of my day

    1. Despite the news saying it had frozen, managed to get onto site and put in for olympic tickets with no problems. Not spent anything yet so still OS for a couple of days:o
    2. Worked at home, so no petrol costs
    3. It's Friday
    4. Come dine with me (guilty pleasure, but I love it)
    5. It's raining, and I can almost see my veg plants growing:)

Hope the weekend brings lovely things for all. x

    Evening everyone!
I seem to have been having some fraught times recently! My hall carpet's ruined after a water leak - no end of hassle with the insurance company trying to get them to pay up, and lots of irate phone calls to them  They finally paid up as per policy to send out a plumber to trace and fix the leak, but then discovered there's a ... wait for it.... £250 excess for water damage to carpets!!! As it's a tiny hall, I told them where to stick it (politely) and am now trying to find a new insurer. Then my friend fell and broke her arm and wrist
Still, there have been some pleasures :-
    1) 2 lovely days cardmaking - one day on a course, another day with a group of friends, where we all demo'd 2 cards each and provided materials for the others to make them.
    2) Phoned Apple about the dodgy battery on my Iphone - as it's still under warranty they are going to replace the phone and upgrade it to the latest model :j
    3) Got my garden sorted out - can't do any gardening myself due to shoulder problems
    4) Sleeping a lot better. I came off antidepressants a while ago and my sleep suffered - it finally seems to be settling down again
    5) Prospect of a sunny weekend - fingers crossed!

Hope everyone is well, or recovering from ill health, accidents etc - still trying to catch up on posts here.

Hi, A fairly productive day. Frith you had my favourite meal which i must have more often

    1. Washing on my line staying dry in the rain due to my Rotaire line cover.
    2. Went fruit picking and ate my fill of strawberries and raspberries.
    3. Came home and made 12 pots of jam with proceeds, plus some fruit in freezer and some still in fridge.
    4. Left over curry for tea - yum
    5. Watching U2 at Glastonbury - so wanted to be there but that rain  and i guess it's a good £500 - £600 I haven't spent in taking me and DS.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Thank you for the ideas as to why chocolate spread is OS/MSE :D

    Happy Birthday Frith!

Are you pleased with your Rotaire, VJsmum? Does it really work as well as the website says? My weekly washing routine of club sports kit is going to increase over this year and I need to find a workable solution before the winter weather sets in.

    My five pleasures for Friday:

    1. Hearing that my car is now mended. I couldn't collect it today so I'll pick it up tomorrow.

    2. The DSs sorting out their disagreements about the last two days of washing up  and working it out so that each of them only washed up the bits that they should have done on their 'rota' days.:rotfl: Between the two of them it's done and we are back on track and I have a clean-ish kitchen again. What a palaver.

    3. Loads of really enjoyable reading for work.

    4. More knitting of my winter cardie while listening to the last episode of that radio drama.

    5. Finding my decent dressmaking scissors which had gone awol. I'd been feeling lost without them.

    Sweet dreams

Mhagster - your no.5 reminds me of a friend who also doesn't do late

CCP - glad you're feeling better. Sleep is a great healer.

    Ladyhawk - get well now.

    Frith - happy birthday.

    1. Lovely walk and meeting a couple of friends and also a couple of people with puppies.

    2. A NSD.

    3. Batch cooked and put 4 meals in freezer. I am increasing my hours at work in July and trying to be organised for it.

    4. Watching U2 at Glastonbury and remembering seeing them at Milton Keynes and Wembley in the long and distant past.

5.All ironing done while watching the tennis.
