5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening
Pleasures for today;
1. Great day out with DD at Wimbledon, we are so lucky that my SIL works there and gave us free ground passes.
2. Took picnic lunch with us which included strawberries, raspberries and cherries yum. Plus a very naughty can of pimms
3. Resisting the urge to buy overpriced tat at Wimbledon
4. Easy journey home without too any delays
5. Just enjoying a small glass of wine before going to bed
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Thanks for the info about the Rotaire, VJsmum. I think I might start saving for one now. I've decided that any spare money (what's that?!) that is spent on non-food stuff now has to go on things that will make living a low-cost/low-energy-use lifestyle cheaper.
My five for Saturday:
1. Taking the bus to go and collect my car - beautiful sunny journey through windey country lanes. Took ages and that was a treat!
2. Having the car back. Despite the cost of fuel, it's still the cheapest way to get us out and about to places we need to go/work. Bus fares are stupidly expensive round here and the car is very economical.
3. Having my lovely mandarin and lemon candle lit in the kitchen.
4. Getting on with more sorting out of kitchen cupboards.
5. Finishing my trial square of quilting (otherwise known as a pot holder) so that I can wash it and see how much the batting shrinks and what it looks like before I use the same batting for a bigger project.
Off to do more kitchen tidying.
Sweet dreams

1. Carpets cleaned for a very reasonable price, and they look like new
2. Postie brought me a perfume sample, a decent sized vial rather than a postcard
3. Got a quote for putting some flat pack furniture together, in true OS style I'm sure I can do better so just said I'd think about it
4. Went to tea with friends, came home with home grown cucumber, asparagus and sweet peas
5. Lovely neighbour had watered my tubs and baskets for me
Sweet dreams

ccp: it's Sunday here so it's your birthday already! have a great day x
Tealady: wow! Wimbledon! I am missing out this year as the coverage doesn't start until 11.30pm ....way too late for me, so seems strange not watching it but Andy boy is still doing okay!
I have to drive to other side of Melbourne this morning to take DD2 to a choir rehearsal. I am very stressed at thought as I hate going where I don't know where I am going. The driving over here leaves a lot to be desired & I have just read a comment on another forum 'they drive like they have just stolen the car!' I laughed as it has a ring of truth to it. I will be back later & you can see if it makes it to my 5 pleasures!
Night to you all.....I'm just off to have a bath...see if it relaxes me!0 -
Thank you so much for the birthday messages - I'm 36 now!
5 or more for today.
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Cards and presents.
3) Sister popped round after breakfast.
4) Went to the forest for lunch with a friend from college and her children.
5) Quiet afternoon playing on the Wii with sons.
6) 2 men from the village hall committee came round to talk to us about the graffiti on the village hall (in case my sons had done it). They handled it REALLY well, such polite chaps. I said my sons had not done it and I think they believed us. They knew they are too short to have done some of the stuff and I said some of the language is so "adult" they had asked me what the words meant. The one polite bloke said one of the terms (unrepeatable) he had not known what it meant himself and had had to ask the other chap!
I also told him 2 of the bits of graffiti were against my smaller son (who has a very unusual name, not to be confused with any other boy around) and I said that writing was very offensive and they agreed. I said they could have temporary CCTV on a laptop and they thought they might try that. They asked if we DID know who had done it and my sons mentioned the 2 boys that it could be but we said we had not seen anyone actually doing the graffiti.
7) Went to mum and dad's for tea - big takeaway.
8) School friend met me at mum and dad's then came back here with us afterwards and has just this minute gone home. :-)
9) Feel really quite positive this evening....
..... which brings me on to....
MrN. It is, after all, my birthday. I have not seen him since Weds night and not heard from him since Thursday. I sent a long text Thursday night (not rude or grumpy) asking him what is going on and what he wants as this is not really a relationship any more.... no reply...
So I have kept an eye out for him today - nothing. No text, no phone call, no visit.
I was out at mum and dad's for a few hours having the takeaway and got back and he had left a card on the mat for me. No message in it, not even a kind word.
Now - really - what sort of boyfriend doesn't do a single thing for his girlfriend's birthday? Am I being oversensitive?? He lives 2 metres away!
So MrN has had his chips. :-)0 -
Must be quick today as have to take DS2 to school for a trip soon.
Happy birthday - CCP
1. Finding wild raspbrrries and picking them.
2. Making raspberry jam.
3. Making banana loaf.
4. DS2 happily making his own way to barbers he likes to have his hair cut - 4 trains and 1 1/2hour walk. He has free train pass so MS too.
5. LO cauliflower cheese for lunch0 -
hello......survived my journey! Was not a pleasure but an accomplishment. Missed the final turning & did a wee tour of Melbourne. I knew I was not in the right place so turned back & found it with minutes to spare!
1.Woke up early & got some bits & pieces done before going out.
2.A very sunny day, bitter cold But very pretty.
3.Took DD1 for lunch whilst DD2 & her friend were at the choir rehearsal. Had a very nice lunch & conversation with my girl, she was an excellent co-pilot!
4.Got home, now that was a pleasure to be in familiar territory! Had an hour down at library. Flicked through a couple of glossy mags & glad I wasn't paying full price for them. Borrowed a pile of scrapbooking mags for some inspiration.
5.I had asked my son to hang out the washing as it would have had a good blow on the line......however, oops he forgot but did hang it (after a fashion) on the clothes horses.
6.Going to have an easy-peasy snacky tea.....as in your mammy cannae be bothered cooking after her BIG lunch & her stressful drive! Plenty there to choose from.
7. I am now going to iron & watch Casualty on iplayer.....that's multi-tasking!
Hope you all have a nice Sunday....may it be a relaxing one!0 -

Happy Birthday CCP! Hope you are having a lovely day.
Nearly forgot to come on and share my pleasures for yesterday and it was a great day.
1 - Got a lovely card and gift from a friend. A pretty little scarf and a scrumptious Joules body lotion. I have some truely wonderful friends.
2 - Our sweet postie who always apologises when he has to knock. We really don't mind, especially if it is mail like that.
3 - Thanks to this website I got some fab bargains on Superdrug. 5 x colgate toothpaste, 4 x colgate toothbrushes, 2 x listerine mouthwash, 1 x dove body wash and 1 x palmolive hand wash all for £4.34.
4 - Went to the art gallery as they have a wildlife photographer of the year exhibition. It was wonderful, thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a picture I had just been reading about in National Geographic magazine. Definitely my kind of thing and think I'll probably go again.
5 - Came home and watched the F1 qualifying I had recorded earlier. Love it!
6 - DH and I treated ourselves to a chip shop dinner, haven't had one in aaaages.
7 - Chilled night just chatting to DH and then we watched a documentary on a basketball rivalry.0
