3. car was mended so my "shame" is now gone
4. did an online shop and used the £20 off ocado voucher - was surprised at how low some of the prices were
5/ managing to knit some of my chunky winter jacket.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
village life: take care of yourself! That sounds so awful x
Frith: be kind to yourself!
CCP: nice to see you back! We are having dodgy internet connection at the moment again & it is very frustrating!
Sparrer: well done on your weight loss......every little helps and slowly ,slowly is the best way to do it.....she says as someone who loses weight veeeeeeery sloooowwwly!
Kittikins: be kinder to yourself also!
Okay! It is Friday morning, another quick week has gone by in a flash.
Thursday's pleasures as internet was being a pain & wouldn't work last night! GRRRRRR!
1.good day at work, saved myself a few minutes by driving to carpark & not having to walk to meter & back to car as I have my permit!
2.teaching my colleagues 'Scottish!', this is very funny as introducing them to 'word of the day' which is often a silly word!
3.Home on time again! My time management skills are obviously improving.
4.All dressed up with somewhere to go......swapped my usual jeans for a silky dress that I bought in a carboot sale before we moved for 1pound. It has never quite fitted but was lovely last night. More make up than I normally wear, hair sitting nicely and off I went on a hot date with my husband! We went into city on the train & met friends for dinner and they treated us.....lots of 'no, no, we'll pay,no we'll pay....so they paid (probably on their expenses!) it was just so nice to be dressed up & out.
5.Took my high heels in a big handbag......was a classy bird & changed into them outside the restaurant and then back into cinderella before going back to train station! I can't wear heels for too long!
6.My wee car was waiting for us at the train station, so quick trip home!
7. I was telling friends about teaching Scottish words to colleagues & he phoned a colleague of his (who is Scottish) to say the word ,(very silly word!) to see if she knew it...she was on a call ,so he has left this phrase on her voicemail! OH & I were laughing so hard!
Right had better get on the go & motivate myself for last day at work for this week.
Big squeeeezy hugs to everyone who needs one xx0 -
Ooooh don't like not having the 'thanks' button
They are saying it's temporarily unavailable. The thanks button is very OS and free to use.:D
(((Hugs))) to all that need them.
Heigh ho. My five for Thursday:
1. Having some long and supportive phone calls this morning (but they were free up to an hour so that was OK).
2. Remembering I had a jar of emergency chocolate spread in the cupboard so did lots of comfort eating after a problematic thing that happened this morning. I'm having trouble of thinking how this could be OS or MSE or weight reducing:eek: Oh well, shows I'm not perfect.
3. Finishing off washing, outdoor drying and airing the sports kit.
4. Listening to the next episode of the radio series I've been enjoying ('Above Suspicion' - WW2 espionage 5x30 minute episodes and easy to listen to while doing other things - today it was sorting yet more paperwork).
5. Making some easy, tasty salmon fish cakes with the left over mash from last night.
Sweet dreams

Thank you all for all your kind postings. I am feeling much better and doing more every day.
Sparrer - I am so pleased that you were all ok after your RTA and I think its the shock that takes time to recover from and to stop thinking what might have been.
Mhagster - I smiled at the thought of you changing shoes outside the restaurant.
Broomstick - That jar of chocolate spread is looking after yourself and there are times when only chocolate will do.
Tealady - I am glad your Mum is alright and can laugh about the incident now.
1. This thread.
2. Walking to the station and then catching train to local town to pay in cheque (for my car) at bank and then came home and didn't look round the shops or spend any money. The trip took me a couple of hours.
3. Met a friend in the village on the way back from the station and stopped for a chat.
4. Once home I was feeling tired and so sorted out piles of paperwork and shredded loads of stuff. I had been meaning to do this for ages and ages so am feeling far more organized.
5. Tea of stirfry chicken and 2 small chicken breasts fed 4 of us easily with lots of veg and noodles.0 -
Well yesterday was definitely better both physically and mentally.
My 5 for the day:
1 - DH was off work for the day so we spent some lovely time together.
2 - National Geographic magazine came, it's my geeky pleasure and it's free because it was gifted.
3 - Cleared up as I went along yesterday so house still in same decent state.
4 - Planning a little trip to my parents with offer train tickets so we can have a wee break while still saving.
5 - Stayed up late with DH (VERY LATE) and watched the NBA draft pick, not nec OS but was definitely a pleasure.0 -
Villagelife: glad you are feeling a bit bettter.
Friday's pleasures.
1.Good day at work! I am really enjoying it now & the company & laughter it brings to my daily life! I was thinking today about how lonely I was before I started (had a very tidy house though!). In my life back home I had so much human contact everyday & that was missing when we moved here.
2.It was a nice enough day, felt quite mild first thing this morning instead of chilly. And was nice when I came out of work .
3.Got caught up on washing & ironing.
4.Had a very in depth & emotional chat with DD2 who was feeling a bit fed up with some stuff going on at school & missing family & friends back home. Had a nice cuddle & I have given her a beautiful notebook & asked her to write in 2 pleasures from her day. They don't have to be OS!
5.DD1 was going out with her youth club & were to meet at somewhere we didn't have a clue where it was! With the wonder of googlemaps on my phone we finally found it, give or take going round a few roundabouts and I was looking for 245 street number & it was 254......thanks to a very kind shop assistant who googled it again for me! I hate not knowing where I am going! Anyway because I don't 'do' lateness, I had left in plenty time so we were punctual!
Hope you have a good day xx
eta : I am using the internet through my phone! I am amazed at technology!0 -
Evening all!
Broomstick - eating the chocolate spread is OS because it was already in your cupboard and you didn't have to go and buy something else to get your chocolate fix. Using up the storecupboard contents sounds pretty OS to me!
Mine for today:
1) Giving in to the inevitable and phoning in sick to work this morning. I then spent most of the morning asleep, which was very lazy but apparently what I needed as I feel much better this evening.
2) Took advantage of being at home and hung some washing out on the line. Amazingly, despite the grey sky and serious chilliness, most of it felt noticeably drier when I bought it back inside.
3) Signed up to do a new product trial, the first one I've done for a while.
4) Spent the afternoon watching tennis with a lap full of mog.
5) Made macaroni cheese for dinner and enjoyed scraping out the cheese sauce pan with a spoon afterwards.
Have a pleasant Friday evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all
1) Free roll at work
2) Free fruit from work - enough to last the weekend
3) Going out tonight  A treat from one of my friends cos they feel guilty - they're forever telling me that I need to get out more - until I pointed out that when they come to visit that we never go out
4) Car picked up from garage - seems to be running ok now although they deny that there was anything wrong with it
5) Quick pizza dinner
6) Wine on offer in Mr A
Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Friday's pleasures:-
1. Two washed out black tee shirts which I dyed 'black' yesterday have come up lovely.
2. Hand washing a cardigan and dragging the spin dryer out to spin it. Very OS and possibly the way to go to beat leccy price hikes.
3. Buying two more packs of Allinson Wholemeal Flour @ 2 for £2 in Mr. S. I now have 11 x 1.5 KG bags of bread flour - to beat the wheat price hikes.
4. An impromptu invitation to tea with DD so that we could babysit, but then their engagement was cancelled so we are back home having had a free tea.
5. Half price box of chocs and bogof biscuits from Mr. M to take to DD.

Evening all,
I haven't be on for a couple of days due to the extremem yuckiness of my cold and cough. Bleugh.
So my pleasures from my past few days:
1: Dinner with a lovely new friend who I met a few months ago on Wednesday night. I was feeling rotten but we still had a really nice evening.
2: Dinner with a lovely old friend on Thursday night. Despite my feeling very yuck I felt I had to go sincehe was only in London for one night. I still managed to be in bed by 9pm!
3) Left work an hour early tonight as I was exhausted after a rough night when I was coughin' instead of sleepin'!
4) Am on the (slow) mend...
5) watching the first bit of tennis this Wimbledon (Murray v Ljubicic)
Night all - have a lovely weekend
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
