5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1. Work xmas lunch was deeeeeelish, ate far too much, but I only seem to eat Chinese food once a year so why not
2. Met up with a few girls from my diet group last night for dinner and it was lovely to have a natter about common interests!
3. Bought a fabulously saucy (and half price) bra and knickers set, thinking well, the bra *might* fit and the knickers probably won't yet, but on trying them on at home, they both fit me beautifully
4. Resisting the temptation to buy a VERY expensive coat, even though I do need a waterproof warm jacket, I will wait until DD is away and have a look around the charity shops etc. As lovely as this coat is, I don't need to spend £150 (reduced price!) on it.......
5. DD had not one, but 2 parties yesterday - the school one where she won a bookmark in the musical statues game, and one with all the village childminders and their charges, where she saw Father Christmas and was given a lovely sticker book
I was thinking of taking her to see him elsewhere, but think that maybe I shouldn't spoil the magic as she's only 4, and to see a different one might confuse.0 -
I have twice lost my post this morning  - and it's dawned me on what causes it to happen. It's when I click on an emoticon to put the little boxes around it to highlight it, and then try to 'delete' by pressing the backspace key instead of using the 'delete' key. It's a habit that I need to break as it's sooooooooo infuriating.
Will now have to keep this very brief
- wd to all those who've been busy baking for freezer stocks, staff parties, school treats etc.
- wd to eveybody who's been busy crafting and making all kinds of stuff for Christmas.
- all sympathies to those who are experiencing problems on the job-front and good luck to those with interviews.
- to those who've been involved with kids in nativity plays - you lucky people - missing that kind of thing so much :T.
- for all who are going on special nights out etc - hope you enjoy your time with friends.
-for all who aren't well or have family not well.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Surprise, but very brief, visit from DD with dgd2 today - lovely to see them both.
2. Had to visit my other scheme (28 properties) to distribute notes for tenants and laminated notices for windows to warn uninvited visitors to please make an appointment before knocking on doors - hope these work! Also took the opportunity to deliver some Christmas cards at the same time. Was given some presents from tenants - large box of Celebrations; large tin of Quality Street; box of Lily O'Brien's Chocolates - need to list them as per instructions from Line Manager last week. Need to do the same on this scheme today (41 properties here).
3. Home-made 'Lentil, Carrot and Coriander Soup' with whoopsied Carrot and Pumpkin bread rolls for evening meal.
4. Another veggie prepping session - this time it was 2 heads of Broccoli (2 for £1 in Asda) - florets blanched and frozen and stalks chopped and frozen for soups; and chunks of carrots also blanched and frozen. Got some leeks to do later this evening.
5. While writing out some Christmas Cards, came across a spare envelope - investigated it and found a £10 gift card for Argos which much have been mislaid last Christmas - still 'in date' :j!
6. Have taken some Belly Pork out of the freezer for tonight's meal - will serve with [STRIKE]creamy mash[/STRIKE] champ (remembered some spring onions in fridge drawer) and cabbage.
7. Just rang DD to ask her a question and heard screams at the other end of the phone - I had woken them up  - massive panic on now as she gets them ready for school!
Hope everybody has a great mse/os day and will check in again later to see how everybody is doing - love Ollie xxx0 -
Morning Everyone
Mine are going to be a bit soppy it was just one of those days yesterday but still nice:
1. Went to see MIL and she gave us all a cheque each which was money that was from her mum's estate. Sad to think she is no longer with us but we talked about some of the nice memories we had of her.
2. MIL saying I was the same as one of her own children which was really nice to hear.
3. Whilst looking for the bank books found a photo of me with my brothers taken 2 weeks before the eldest one died. I found it difficult to look at this photo before but OH had put it somewhere safe for when I was ready. Guess that was today cause it made me smile and not cry to remember what a great night the 4 of us had.
4. Getting 2 bottles of very nice wine from my old boss to say thank you for all the work I'd done for him during the year and for the help I was still giving him. Such a nice man it would be hard not to help him.
Lastly not a soppy one...
5. As out late yesterday had a takeaway not very OS but I made it stretch to cover the lunches for today.
Hugs to all who need them.0 -
Hi all,
Hugs to all that need them.
1. The sun shining through the window. I love cold sunny days.
2. Managing to walk to lidl for a few bits (dishwashing tablets etc) and getting the bus back (it's only a 5-10 minute walk but seemed like a million miles away when I couldn't manage to walk that far).
3. Toasted teacake and a cuppa. Surprising how much you appreciate the little things after you've been ill.
4. MIL offering to get shopping for me - only needed milk for OH (it was too heavy to carry with the rest yesterday) so now I don't have to go out again and can carry on with my feet up
5. Having heat - the housing association boiler repair team have been about lots this week - thankfully ours is all ok this year so far.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
1. Enjoyed yesterday's snow - but thankfully it was short and sweet.
2. Attending local concert.
3. Catching up with news from old friends when their Christmas cards arrive.
4. Can hardly believe it but just spotted first daffodil shoots peeping through
in the garden.
5. Nice new fluffy scarf bought in charity shop for a song.
6. Putting up 'old faithful' artificial Christmas tree for the umpteenth year
(save a tree !) and finding that the Christmas tree lights still worked.0 -
Hi All
Mine for today
1 Christmas party in toddler group. It was brilliant, the kids loved it, and the santa was really good (and I got to eat loads of party food so no need for lunch)
2 Spent the afternoon making chocolate truffles, baileys and white choc fudge and rocky road - and they all taste lovely
3 Finished another sock monkey for an xmas present and only got the scarf to do to finish the other one.
4 SNOWING!!!
5 Not spent any money today so another day of using up food in fridge
Hope you all have a good evening0 -
Evening all
Hope you are all keeping warm and safe in this weather
Pleasures for today
1 Day off today was lovely to be able to sleep a little later - am usually up at 4.45 a.m - slept in till 7.15, not late to a lot of people I know but was much appreciated by me today.
2 Nice slow start with a cup of tea and buttered toast (a treat in itself as I rarely eat butter as I am usually trying to diet!)
3 £25 voucher from Morrisons!!
4 Got most of my Christmas shop finished and with the above voucher and the stamps I have been saving over the year, got a massive shop and only had £16 to pay toward it! Result!!!!
5 Back aching really badly (probably due to above shop LOL) - so DD made tea! This is a very, very rare event in this house but was all the nicer for that!!!
and a cheeky 6th pleasure - being inside in the warm looking out at the snow. I do love it -until I have to go out in it!!!:rotfl:
Keep warm
x"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D
Weight loss since January 2011 - 5st 5 lbs!!!!!0 -
Good Evening!
I am another one who has been MIA over the last few days! Hope you are all well and cheery! Mine for today:
1. Laughing, singing and dancing to celebrate xmas at work
2. Coming home and going straight for a nap
3. Rummaging through a huge box of newly inherited xmas decorations
4. Eating the last of a huge bar of chocolate
5. Being called the best mummy ever by my DD and being smothered in hugs and kisses (for no reason)
I am also waiting patiently for my OH who is going to bring in a delicious bargain dinner!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
mine for today and yesterday
1) getting on from work yesterday and making a sock monkey needed for the weekend (well, its nearly done, was meant to finish it tonight but its not happened !)
2) managing to walk home from work tonight without slipping over, we had a sprinkling of snow which was mainly ice at 6 o/c
3) talking to my mum and DD on the phone
4) realising that I am way behind all the xmas plans...realising that the reason I am behind is cos of talking to family on the phone and that is worth far more than a perfect xmas
5) its Friday tomorrow yeahhhhhhhh. Have our early xmas buffet on Sunday, looking forward to the cooking for itwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine
Stopped smoking 20:30 28/09/110 -
Hope everyone is well and not too frazzled.
1. DD sorted out 'that' cupboard in the kitchen and its all organised now!
2. Did very cheap roast dinner, including the roast potatoes i froze last week and they were fab.
3.Mum and I watch tv together even tho she is 15 miles away and this last couple of weeks has been good with all the Christmas shows. We ring each other at the end of each show and chat about it, she loves it. Tonight was Jamie's family Christmas.
4. Think I finished all my knitting, at last.
5. Found a cake tin I lost 2 years ago, thought DD had left it at a friends - it was hidden on top of a cupboard, really happy because it was a fortune to replace.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0
