    Evening

Sorry been MIA as been too tired to post for a couple of days.

    Pleasures have been

1 Last day at work today till New Years Eve - such a relief after a hectic month so far.

2 Had Christmas "Fuddle" at lunchtime - is this just a Yorkshire expression or do you know what I am on about. Was lovely to just chat and catch up with all colleagues with bonus of a lovely lunch provided.

3 My Secret Santa at work brought me a lovely bottle of Port - I feel Stilton coming on!!!!!

4 Although it has been extremely hard work, managed to get my work up to date so that I could be off with an easy mind - I do tend to "bring my work home with me in my mind" and worry so it was a big relief!

5 All hugs and good wishes from friends at work who I will not see until after I go into hospital for my op on Monday. It is not a major procedure and I hopefully will only be in a few days, but even so it was lovely to feel so loved!!

Have a good evening all. I will read back on the thread to catch up with your news now!

Hi everyone, thought I would pop back and get a warm glow from all your posts :p Thanks for the welcome and hope to get to know you all better as you seem like a lovely bunch x

Don't know if I can do 5 today but here goes...

    1. After a bad night with a cough and a bit of a temperature, ds woke up full of the joys of christmas and happy to go to school because it was his party today  had it not been he would have been quite pathetic this morning in an attempt to stay at home...so that was lovely to see!

    2. Spoke to an old contact through work and now got a job interview tomorrow for a part time accounts job to start in the new year yay!

    3. Got a lovely pic of my niece sent to my phone by my sis (I live away from them so don't see her much)

    4. dd's in their wellys picking up ds from school and jumping in 'muddy puddles' (peppa pig has a lot to answer for) was a lovely sight!

    5. Sorted out the kitchen cupboard to put away the goodies that I won in a hamper....then eating a meal using some of those bits and a pud too....very mse!!

On the finance front though, bit of a wake up call today as I dared to look at the credit card balances  although I have been pretty good with presents this year using cashback and stuff, too many 'random shops' for christmassy stufff and lots of bills coming in means things are looking bad...so off now to get inspiration from other threads and if I get the job that should help too!!!

    Hi all

two busy days and no chance of popping it - enough to find loads of posts full of interesting things!

Kiwiblue, how lovely to see you back here, and as always describing your little corner of paradise (even if spoiled by the bad tenant, sorry about that!).

Acey, racism is unfortunately very widespread. I hope you will find a way to speak with your vicar, or perhaps even to face your councillor and tell her how dismayed you were to hear her unpleasant words - councillors are VERY sensitive to their constituents' opinions and it might make her think twice next time!

    Here are mine for yesterday:

1 - Feeling completely well now, hardly coughing at all, feeling grateful for my health.

2 - Outing with DH to Portsmouth outlet village, a nice train journey.

3 - There, a lovely lunch, the pub where we went complied perfectly to my request of a vegan platter, got a plateful of lovely freshly cooked vegetables, salad, chips and mushy peas with a delicious balsamic dressing. DH had fish and chips. We loved the food and the service was great too. We made sure that the management knew how satisfied we were.

4 - Found some reasonably priced small token gifts for friends.

5 - Stir fry veg and tofu for dinner, yummy!

    Today:

1 - Woke up well rested, cup of tea in bed courtesy of DH.

2 - Snow! In London! Great to see, even if it did not settle.

3 - Remembered to wash some laundry items that I had meant to wash for a while.

4 - Colleague/friend came over and I baked soda scones for breakfast - midmorning snack more like!

5 - Work outing this afternoon with said colleague, but afterwards she treated me to a Chinese meal.

    Good night everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Aaaand after a few busy busy days, I'm here with a few pleasures to share:

    1) Starting to watch Lost from LoveFilm
    2) Making a delish pasta bake
    3) Making tortilla parcels (spicy chicken) which DH loved and actually asked for the leftovers for his lunch :D
    4) A bit more sewing and showing off the completed one
    5) My Nectar Vouchers arrived

That's it - not that many for a few days, but there were some and that's the main thing. I think what I really need is just a holiday with a few days off work. Mum hasn't been well, and I have been fretting quite a bit about it, and what with the early starts I just feel like a bit of a shell lately. It'll change when I'm rested, I'm sure. In the meantime, thanks for bearing with me.

  • Hi everyone.
Sorry not been posting much - by the time I've done the Daily thread I the kids are bouncing off the walls!

Mine for the last few days are:

    1. Am loving the Christmas lights that people have put round the outside of their homes. I wish they could leave them up until the nights draw out as I think it makes everything look soooooo cheery :D

    2. Christmas is coming and I have that excited feeling growing :o

    3. Managed to wrap most of the Christmas presents the other night so I feel a bit more organised.

    4. Just made a Chocolate and Marzipan loaf - can't wait to eat some!

    5. A friend made us some chocolate brownies as a Christmas present - boy are they more-ish!

    6. My 7 year old mindee made me and the family a Christmas card this morning.

    7. Looking forward to seeing some snow - please let it arrive soon!

    8. Had some lovely cuddles and kisses from the kids over the last week or so. Am really please that they are both on the mend after being so poorly recently.

I am sure there are more but mind has gone blank. I really should write them down :0

    Five for today:

    1) Boys had a plain clothes day at school this morning and a pantomime. I took 30 fairy cakes too for bigger son's class party.

    2) Went to college for my counselling course which was interesting and I've just finished my homework so I've only got a bit of reading to do through the holidays.

    3) Had an appointment at the JobCentre this afternoon and the lone parent advisor was as helpful and supportive as always. She asked if I had thought of getting carer's allowance for my younger son. He is off to see the paediatrician again soon but I don't think he's needs are serious enough.

    4) My brother came here after the school run and played on the Wii with the boys.

    5) Went swimming afterwards and little son swam his first width! He then walked back and immediately swam another one :-O

    6) Had fish and chips for tea.

    7) my friend at college picked up the new grate for my woodburner and I fitted it tonight (wearing oven gloves) so no more logs falling out onto the mat.

  • Hi all, here are my 5-

1.Wearing a warm 'pully' and really feeling the difference in this cold weather.
2.I picked up a really nice teddy hot water bottle for my daughter today (£6.99 in Aldi, lots of different animals!). I was going to keep it for Christmas but she's been so chilly in bed recently I gave it to her today. When I tucked her in she was cuddling the teddy and saying thank you to me..aahhh.
3.Nice walk with dogs round the park today, the rain held off.
4.This is last night really but still worth noting, SNOW!! So pretty in the street lights.
5.Easy tea of chicken and salad sandwhiches made with l/o chicken and chips on the side. Quick but tasty and filling.

Hope all your days have been good, sleep well, Ali x.

Oh, I quite forgot! Dad watchers, this is advanced warning for Mum watch!

My mum *may* be on (West) Midlands Today tomorrow, playing the piano! She's providing the music for the opening (I think) of an old people's centre outside Worcester.

Strange but true, 3 members of my family on TV this month!
