    Five from today:
    1. Wrapping some presents and thinking what nice gifts we're giving this year, even though we're spending less than normal. Being out of work I have plenty of time to browse and bite the bargain threads!

    2. My one-time boss calling in unexpectedly and stopping for a chat. I was looking super-skanky but didn't worry.

    3. I realised that if I left the house 15 minutes later I could pay for an hours less parking whilst shopping before meeting my boys from their school trip. So I put a boeuf bourgignon in the oven, stewing beef half price because the date was up on Saturday and a sachet of mix from an Asda bargain. I haven't used dried packet sauces for years and this was a godsend - leaving a really thick and tasty dish for us. (Half price spuds too ... date about 10 days ago!).

    4. I didn't dare wash my hair without colour-care shampoo but discovered that I could disguise the greasy look by using straighteners. (I guess they fried it!) I managed to buy some huge 'Tres....' shampoo and conditioner for only £1.99 in Savers. I hope it will suit my hair as it should last me forever!

    5. Got my half price kitchen organiser from M&S. I usually leave it too late to find the style I want at a reasonable price, because I always hope that DH knows me well enough to choose a lovely one for me by now!

    1. Have arranged a night out when DD is away with a good friend I've not seen in ages, we need to work out location but the date is set, hoorah!

    2. Chatted to an old friend in the US on messenger tonight - haven't 'spoken' to him for ages.

    3. DD and I were a great team this evening putting together her leg0 airplane from today's advent calendar

    4. Another DVD has sold on Amaz*n :)

    5. £4 LV arrived from P1necone survey, hopefully I have another £8 worth coming soon as I've done 3 very l-o-n-g surveys recently

ooops crossed posts with ACEY, Patchwork, scotrae and Kittikins :)

ACEY - how very unwelcoming/ignorant of your local councillor. I assume that, as an elected member of the local authority, she is a reasonably well-educated woman and as such she should be aware that the majority of Romanians are Christians (Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic etc) with a minority of Muslims - though Muslims may not necessarily be offended by Carol Singing. Such a shame that an opportunity to extend an welcoming hand of friendship was missed. Did the Vicar hear her comment at the time? - I sincerely hope he didn't. Wouldn't like to think that he heard but just didn't have the guts to stand up to such a strongly opinionated woman.
Patchwork - What a wonderful evening you all had and lol at your DS. Wtg on your 'gluten-free' baking. I have a cousin who is a coeliac but has now been diagnosed diabetic as well - poor girl.
scotrae - well done on your bargain pressie shopping and on your 'parking tip' - evening meal sounds very mse ;).
Kittikins - wtg on catching up with old friends and hope you enjoy your evening out .

Broomstick your link was particularly poignant for me just now as my dear Aussie friend, recently diagnosed, and I used to sing together on the phone and skype. We had funny little competitions to see who could remember the words of songs from a particular era, or film, or singer..I've a lump in my throat thinking of it but I'm going to resurrect those little contests - we still talk every day - and hope he can respond even if in only a small way. Thank you so much for the link.

    My 5
    1. Broomsticks link should really take all 5
    2. A nsd
    3. An ebayer was offering some unusual gold candles which I wanted for a centrepiece...he was just 5 miles away and said I could collect, gave me scant details of how to get to his house and to call him if I got lost. It was a terrible place to find so I phoned from about 1/2 a mile away. He was so rude! Told me I should have followed his directions, which I had. He went on about how he couldn't have explained any better...I've never had anyone speak like that to me before so I said thank you, turned off the phone and came home, saving £13 and a little dignity.
    4. A fun evening at my fellowship, a friend and I are looking to arrange a retreat for a weekend in the new year. She mentioned a silent one but I had to decline, couldn't keep my bouche shut that long! Some of the other members agreed - they know me so well..
    5. It didn't snow, and the sun shone

Night night n God bless, stay safe

Gosh, time's slipped by and it's much later than I thought. Here's my five pleasures for Monday:

    1. Reading posts on this thread again. (And Ollie, your thoughtfulness about everyone here is so lovely.)

    2. Catching up with some mending (now that I can find things in the tidy sewing box again). There's something really peaceful about sitting quietly and hand-sewing.

    3. Getting to the dress rehearsal of the first half of the show tonight. The cast is huge and the little ones are buzzing with excitement. I hope they have some adrenelin left for the opening night!

    4. Engaging in the new game of Xmas wreath counting! Every time we come back home after an evening out, one more of the front doors in our close seems to have acquired a wreath. It's turned into a sort of real-life advent calendar since there are about ten more houses to go. Very silly.:D

    5. Listening to episodes of a couple of drama series I've been following on the radio. How ever did I cope before iplayer?

    Sweet dreams everyone.

    B xxx

Sparrer - just read your post and am sending you and your friend (((hugs))) and the hope that you continue to share many happy songs together.

    Morning all,

Bellaquidsin - I'm so glad you had heard of fish patties as well whenever I mention nobody has heard of them
Ollie - Glad you got your tree sorted, I did laugh as I have done the same thing a couple of years ago.

Yesterday was really busy so didn't get time to post so mine for the last couple of days are:

    Sunday
    1. DD bringing me a cup of tea in bed again
    2. Lovely breakfast of bacon and egg muffins
    3. YS cakes from Waitrose which we sneakily ate with a cup of tea in the BHS cafe
    4. Letting DD spend the free £5 voucher for the body shop that was in the Sunday paper plus the extra one we had from FIL
    5. Sitting with DD watching the X Factor all cuddled up under a fleecy blanket

    Monday
    1. Getting a lift home, this was really good as journey would have involved getting 3 trains.
    2. OH had prepared dinner when I got in so only had to light the gases.
    3. As OH had got dinner ready it meant I had time to do some breakfast muffins, box has been empty for a couple of days
    4. More presents wrapped, they seem to be going on forever.
    5. MIL wants us to go round at the weekend as she has some good news for us!!

Just one more - got through first day of audit just today to go.

Hugs to all who need them and have a great day
  • Today is most definatly an OS da, as was yesterday, after a very well needed childfree break with the OH over the weekend!!! So here are my combined ones:

    2. Dinner for last night was already and slowly cooking in the oven for all kids and parents, HM potato hash with HM bread!

    3. Visiting my Gramps today as he's out of hospital and on the mend (close as we didn't think he'd make it this time!)
Kids seeing him for the first time in over 2 months as he's just strong enough now!

    4. Have a chicken soup on the go for Gramps, Nan and all the kids, will suprise Nan with that later!

    5. Went to the farm and found some Rubarb and Ginger Jam, Nans fave, so will give her an early present tonight (may pick Gramps up a bottle of whiskey on the way!)

    6. House STILL ready for xmas!!!!

    7. Most of the Xmas prep done for Fridays, "Break up from school Xmas party!"
8 kids and 3 Mummy's,::Jean is making her famous Victoria Sponge Cake, I'm doing the home made Pizzas, biscuits and fudge, And Oriel in charge of picky bits (cheese straws etc) and pop!!! My Xmas playlist well on the way!
    Yeay!!!!

Has gone to play on her own little world for a bit..... but its ok the voices in her head came too so she's not alone ;)
  • Hi all, hope you're having a good week.

    4. Lots of cakes and Christmas dinner at work yesterday.. mmmm gravy :D
    5. Having a great run last night, coming home cold and tired and writing my Christmas cards then having an early night and a good sleep.

Afternoon all. Off to get DD in a mo from her final part time day of school. What will I do with my afternoons in the New Year when she goes full time? :D :rotfl:

Here are my five OS's for the day:

    1. Just eaten last nights left over stuffed pepper for my lunch.
    2. Pudding was a re-heated HM banana and choc chunk muffin with a dollop of creme fraiche.
    3. Wrapped up teachers presents for school. Small box of chocs that was on offer in Mr S's a while ago.
    4. Used last years christmas cards as gift tags.
    And last but not least
    5. Spent the first part of the morning watching both my children in their nativity play. The only year they will ever do one together. I didn't know which way to look first!!!!

    Have a good day.
