Grrr, had a big list and then my laptop crashed, so here goes round 2!

Made scrummy roasted veg and potato wedges for dinner tonight, using up some slightly dodgy looking vegetables. Haven't got round to making the gingerbread for tomorrow, but think it's a little bit late tonight!

DD has a friend over for a sleepover tonight, they were so cute together earlier on

Shawshank Redemption on TV tonight, love that film

Managed to dilute my blackberry vodka to make 3 bottles, 2 for presents, and one for me :)

Had a great time at school cinema club this afternoon, DD was on my lap for cuddles before the opening credits had faded, but we both really enjoyed it, she was less overwhelmed than I anticipated.

DD and I decorated the tree earlier on whilst her friend did a jigsaw, it looks gorgeous and even the 5 year old boy who's not "soppy" thought it looks really pretty. It's very sparkly and I'm sitting here watching the end of my film in the glow of the multicoloured bulbs.

Good evening - my five for Saturday:

    1. My lost knitting has been found!

    2. Sorting out some last bits of Xmas and household shopping and ending up with a free ream of computer paper and a free bamboo chopping board which were freebies just because I bought the things I was going to be buying anyway. The chopping board will make a really good birthday prezzie for someone next year.

    3. Unknown to me my when I was crashed out in an easy chair at tea time (I'm feeling rather sore throaty - hope it's a blip not a new bug), my lovely children cleaned the kitchen and made sausages and chips for supper for everyone.

    4. Making the wreath with DS2 at long last: with fir branches, strands of ivy, holly with berries, pine cones and a long red ribbon rescued from the wrapping for a present I got a couple of years ago that I'd been keeping in my sewing box knowing that it would come in useful some day. We've hung it on the front door and looks fab. :D

    5. Looking forward to settling down with hottie (what's new?) and fleece to watch Victorian Christmas on iplayer. Don't feel sleepy because of earlier snooze and we have a later start tomorrow so this seems like a good solution!

    Sweet dreams

    My five for Saturday

    1. Collected all the wrappings etc I've made over the years, haven't got to buy any paper, tags, ribbons again. I really can't remember the last time I did.
    2. Sorted out the presents into families and started wrapping first carrier bag full.A bag a day [STRIKE]will[/STRIKE] should get it done in a week
    3. The blue badge I was told would arrive in Jan turned up today thanks to a reminder letter from my GP's sec.
    4. I have to go to a funeral on Wednesday a 2 1/2 hour drive away but someone else going phoned to offer me a lift. Thank goodness, I wasn't looking forward to it with the forecast as it is.
    5. My electricity co have offered me a free power down, everyone seems to have them except me so I accepted with thanks!

Night night, God bless, sweet dreams

Evening all  - brrrrr it's cold and frosty out there tonight HSshiver.gif - my wheelie bin lid was stuck solid just now :rotfl:.

sparrer - wd on the freebie moisturiser and :j at finding your lost ring. Wtg on the blue badge :T. I got a 'power down' and electricity monitor last week from B.Gas and I'm not even a customer - some initiative with them and our local authority and now my own supplier has offered me one as well .
Kitchenbunny - wd on your baking session and finishing your cross stitch work :T.
Dazi - Guess Friday is your favourite day of the week :rotfl:! Great that your OH is back home again and all well with s/d :j.
nuttybabe - wd on meeting another 'baking mum' at school and on your sock monkey orders :T.
bella - great day there but sorry to hear about your finger - ouch!
nic1lou2 - wtg on having Christmas all sorted now :T.
Caterina - the museum and eco-house sound like a great day out :).
ACEY - that sounds like a fabulous friday :j - wd on getting the boys so organised helping to tidy ;).
Rummer - congrats on getting your new glasses ordered - doesn't it make a difference  - just don't realise until you put new ones on lol.
alisong - wtg on your bargain Christmas Tree and getting up-to-date with the laundry :T.
Kittikins - wd on the blackberry vodka - hic - and on getting the tree decorated :).
Broomstick - how lovely of your children to cook an meal and clear up in the kitchen while you snoozed - fingers crossed for your throat. Have you got any honey and lemon in?

    Mine for today:

    1. Meeting with a lovely guy at the bank - went through my account and cancelled a couple of Direct Debits - so a little more of my money for ME! Because he asked me to take details of outgoings with me, I discovered that I'm £130+ in credit with my rent without realising. I thought I'd been reducing my credit but it appears not - will apply for a refund of this on Monday - may take a few weeks to come through, but will be very welcome in the New Year :j.

    2. Also discovered that I'd not received my refund via Medicash from getting my new glasses a few months ago. Need to chase that up asap - they owe me around £50 :j.

    3. Spotted a 'Clearance Shop' in our local shopping centre. Got 2 beautiful Pashmina-style wraps for my sister and brother's girlfriend for Christmas pressies - £4 each and really beautiful . Also got OH some really thick hiking socks for when he's climbing - also £4 for 3prs.

    4. Visited my favourite charity shop, but it was so packed that there was no room inside - great to see. They were having a visit from the local Mayor, Santa was on a 'throne' to speak to kiddies and there were all kinds of things going on - joined the carol singing outside for a while. It's run by local churches (all denominations) and raises money for well-digging, seed supplies etc in Mali, Burundi and Rwanda as well as helping local charities nominated by the volunteer staff.

    5. Trip to Asda for a scout around. Some whoopsies 'with my name on them' - Extra Special Dauphinoise Potatoes, ES Coleslaw, 2 packs Indian Snacks (frozen for the Christmas Buffets), rollback broccoli and cabbages (2 for £1). Also bought some shiny red shoes for dgd1 for her Christmas Party outfit - will look fabulous with her black dress and red jacket :T.

    6. DS1 and g/f were here when we got back home - wanting to stash her ds's pressies in our back bedroom. Hope my dgk's don't get in there in the next 2wks !

    7. Speaking to my USA cousin's DD on Yahoo earlier - lovely to chat with her. Haven't seen them for about 8 yrs though we keep in touch with regular phone calls.

    8. Within seconds of closing the conversation with cousin's DD, cousin phoned me and she hadn't spoken to her daughter either - spooky or what! Cousin says that after 50yrs of friendship, we're probably telepathic by now :rotfl: - could be something in that!

    9. Started to put the Xmas Tree up but came to a full stop :(. One of the 'connecting bits' that hold the bottom and middle bits together seems to have disappeared . OH has been back up into the loft but no signs of it - very strange. It went up and came back down again OK last year and should have all been there in the box, so a bit stumped at the moment. The base is sitting there now with one set of lights wrapped around the lower branches but can't get any further with it . Think this is going to call for some ingenuity...........

    10. Have just prepped all the veggies for a SC of Scouse for tomorrow's evening meal - so should be easy to assemble in the morning :j.

    11. Sitting her listening to some Clannad on my comp as I'm typing away :).

Going to make myself some hot choccie and head for bed now - my book awaits me. Hope everybody has a good night's sleep - and HSsending1_28738.gif to anybody who needs them - love Ollie xxx

Just calling in briefly, so I'll have to come back and catch up on posts this evening. Hello to everyone meanwhile!

    1. Buying marked-down 'bready' muffins on my early trip to Tesco and making DH and DS1 sausage (and egg) muffins for 'brunch' because nobody had eaten bvreakfast in my absence!

    2. Treating myself to a 'proper' jar of coffee - Alta Rica, only £2 for 100g from Tesco instead of over £6 for the 200g jar. I usually have the cheapest own-brand decaf dust but this will be nice to have in for guests over Christmas. Strong but rather nice!

    3. DS1 having a friend round, whose lovely Mum stopped for a cuppa when he arrived. These two boys are quite similar ('equally idiosyncratic' I think one teacher observed!) and it was interesting to listen in on the dynamics. I think they had fun, in their own way!

    4. F-i-L's first words when he walked into our house being 'You've had the carpet cleaned!' (with amazed expression). In fairness, it had been pretty bad - perhaps what m-i-l had in mind when she insisted everyone goes to her not here for the big day!

    5. Giving in to DS1 and agreeing I'd cook pancakes if he's make the batter. He wanted to experiment by adding cocoa powder, which he thought worked. It's nice to see him follow a recipe - even though I did miss some of the Strictly dances!

    6. Staying up late (12.50am) to make a chocolate orange souffle from Delia's original book, which I made once 11 years ago, accompanied by Sinatra singing Christmas songs (my festive Poundland bargain). Our neighbour is away and my boys were fast asleep so I didn't need to worry about using the electric whisk.

    7. DH stayed away for the night but I got a text from him while I was making the souffle, so rang him for a nice chat.

    8. Snuggling up in the bed ... DH's side ... but all to myself!

We have friends coming today with a toddler and a baby, so I need to think about some child-proofing! As they'll be here in daylight so I need to do something about tidying the garden and patio junkyard! I still have so many boxes around the house to tidy away ... best get on with it then!

Have a blissful Sunday all, whatever you're doing!
  • Morning all,

Hope everyone is ok and keeping warm.

    1. Having a healthy breakfast with wholegrain, nuts and seeds n stuff.
    2. Getting over the shock of what I paid for an M&S turkey (all prepared in a tray). Ah it's an early xmas meal.
    3. Fussing the cats even though I was part of their feed me now routine.
    4. Eating home made chilli and knowing there is now a batch of it in the freezer.
    5. Watching Christmas films on one of the film channels.

I've not caught up on here (my you're a busy lot), but hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday.:A
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.

Good morning, I need to post a very lovely pleasure, others will follow in due course for the day:

1 - Woke up after a full night sleep, this is the first night I go all the way through without waking up coughing at all! I am coughing a bit now but nothing like I have been doing in the last couple of weeks - I feel really to be on the mend and am seriously GRATEFUL!!!

Have a good day everybody - I prob. won't post until tomorrow because I am going to see friends this evening, so see you all tomorrow! xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Morning all :hello: - what a beautiful crisp morning :j.

scotrae - Hope you enjoy your 'treat coffee' - something I always feel a necessity, especially at Christmas. I've got a gorgeous fair-trade one in my 'stash' along with an extravagant pack of cafetiere coffee. OH has his Organic Assam Teabags as well . Post-Christmas it will be back to Asda own-label decaff and one-cups :rotfl:.
mineallmine - lol at your cats - they can make us feel so wanted/needed when they want to ;). wd on the chilli in the freezer :T.
Caterina - congrats on your first good night's sleep in so long :j - sometimes I sleep sitting upright on the sofa with feet/legs elevated when I'm having 'coughing fits' - often the only way to keep the 'yukky stuff' down long enough to doze off.

    Mine for this morning -

    1. Christmas Tree saga Part 2 - have now discovered that the top bit is too loose when inserted into the middle bit - so TWO connecting pieces are missing - now wondering if there's a conspiracy afoot (especially considering OH's midweek determination to get a new tree ). He's now gone to a car boot sale with the intention of checking the shops in St.Helens to see if anything there. Can see us finishing up with a real one this year - omg the bliddy needles grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

    2. The Scouse is now coming up to temperature and beginning to smell delish .

    3. Bargain from HomeBargains - Dorset Cereal Light Flakes for brekkie - not as heavy as their mueslis and with delicious flakes of passionfruit/fig/apple.

    4. Second load of laundry in machine and first lot on the airers/rad rails. Don't think anything is going to dry outdoors today - still frost around.

    5. Am going to treat myself to some Christmas music while The Grinch is out tree-hunting  - will have to 'rock-around-a-non-existant-christmas-tree' :rotfl:.

Hope everybody has a great mse/os day and I'll speak again later - love Ollie xxx.
  • Hi to all you OS lovelies :hello:

    Recent pleasures for me include:

    1. The lovely barman in Wetherspoons; he was just so funny and put a smile on my face.

    2. Meeting my friend in London yesterday for eat as much as you like curry, all for a bargainaceous £6.95 per head! Yummy!

    3. Making a provisional booking for my big 2010 trip (see signature). Should be confirmed within the next week or so.

    4. Making more progress with my current short story - this one is proving difficult, but hey, it's all a learning curve.

    5. Delicious curry with four old schoolfriends on Tuesday.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, everyone! xxx
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

    Morning all,

Glad to hear lots of people feeling better than they have been.

    Mine for Yesterday are:

    1. Lovely long lie in and DD bringing me a cup of tea in bed (with just a little bit of prompting)
    2. Really lazy day pottering around at home
    3. Making HM fish patties (fish sandwiched in slices of potato battered and then deep fried) and chips for dinner. I used to love this as a kid but never see it anywhere now. Turned out yummy and everyone enjoyed it, not very healthy but a nice treat.
    4. Getting more Christmas presents wrapped, getting there
    5. Reading all the lovely posts on here.

    Have a good day everyone
