5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Here's mine for today:
1) Sitting down after a really busy day! I'm sorry there aren't more, but sometimes it's difficult to find the blessings to count.
2) Working out I won't have to bake for the office (someone else wanted to do what I was doing but will probably buy them. It means I get away with buying crisps and dip, and with Morries having some nice crisps on a buy one get two free...)
3) Kind of half-planning a Secret Santa at work with an MSE twist - find the best sweetie or food related Christmas present for £1! Let's see how many people can do that one
In spite of the smileys, I could do with a hug as I'm exhausted and a bit empty. I have a blog I'm trying to revamp and it's getting nowhere, so I think I'm going to work on that for a little while. Take care, everyone

Thanks for all the good wishes and to Scotrae for the pm! (I didn't go shopping in the end because I got out of court at 2 and was in time to pick the boys up instead).
Well, 5 for today!
1) Went to court. The ex had said he and his girlfriend had split up. After the barristers had talked about this new development for over an hour, my solicitor SAW his fiancee outside and he admitted they had not split up after all! Cue some VERY cross legal people... He is also on trial for fraud next week. Contact has stayed identical (few hours here and there) and new fiancee is STILL allowed no contact with my sons. Lots and lots of reports have been ordered and we are going to be in court again in March. If things are the same (i.e no new revelations) I can then ask for the piecemeal 3 hours here and there contact to be condensed into some longer periods of contact less often (if that makes sense).
2) Got to school in time to pick the boys up. Bigger son (key stage 2) had Christmas dinner today and little son (KS1) had his Christmas play. Luckily, his play is over 2 days so I shall catch it tomorrow.
3) Went to mum and dad's for mum's 65th birthday. It was all very jolly and mum played the piano accordian and big son danced about (he's a bit like that!)
4) Did all my Christmas cards.
Oh dear, can't think of 5 but I am very tired!

Acey - what a relief for you, shame your ex is so nasty and such a liar, and really pleased that things haven't gone his way. Phew.
Kitchenbunny - here's a big hug (((()))), hope a good sleep helps you tonight.
Have a few today:
FINALLY found our tree decorations, DD was so pleased that her salt dough creations were safeWe're going to put them on the tree on Saturday afternoon.
Popped round to drop something back to a friend with DD, she played with the children and we ended up staying for dinner, yummo.
Another book and CD were sold overnight - I think I might make my target by the end of the year at this rate.
Worked from home today and wasn't too busy, tomorrow will be really quiet, as 3 out of 4 bosses are off. Yippee!
DD invited a friend for lunch and a play, they were so cute together, making up lots of games, dressing up etc. It gave me more time to get lunch ready without having persistent demands for snacks whilst the beans on toast were made, and more importantly, meant DD got to play girly stuff with someone who doesn't constantly ask how to spell certain words, or does she know why, where, what etc etc. Me, pushy? Just keen....lol
Took DD to the doctor's to check on her sinuses and he said that she looks much better so we can stop the nose drops. Hooray!
Posted my Amaz*n sales and the postage came to less than I'd anticpated, and I did a good deed for the day by letting someone go in front of me in the queue
YS hot cross buns in Mr T's.
Have written most of our christmas cards, just need to get DD to write her name in certain ones, only 12 of them for her to contribute to...
Decanted a bottle's worth of home-made blackberry vodka for bro and his girlfriend, and I've realised I might have enough to do another bottle and a bit, or dilute with more vodka and make 2 bottles, one for some friends and maybe a little bit for me.....0 -
Goof to hear from you Acey. I don't understand these courts at all. A friend has had a right run about with hers lately. At least you caught the school run though (and parking after 3 was a nightmare judging by my experience today - 3 circuits of the car park, calling through the window at 3 lots of people to say they didn't need to pay this afternoon as I went around!).
Just two for me this evening because I put so many down this morning:
Finally using a box of hair dye which I'd got with Boots Points some months ago. Tonight I am brunette, not grey.
Going to a lovely carol service in the cathedral. Those cloisters are cold, mind you!
Attending a gorgeous carol service in the cathedral0 -
Evening everyone.
Acey, very well done for getting through today.
My five for Thursday:
1. My new hottie was still hot when I woke up this morning - seventh heaven!
2. Beautiful drive to home ed group as usual. We located a place on the way there which breaks old cars and reconditions parts that are no longer available so we are going to visit so that DS2 can get some necessary bits and pieces very cheap for one of his 'making' projects.
3. Collecting our food order delivery from my sister's. Can start to stock up the cupboards now. My young neice was on fine form.
4. Listening to DS1 talk on the way back from the sports club this evening about all the good feedback he's had about the coaching he's been doing with their beginners.
4. Driving back home in the thick fog late tonight. It felt really wintery and magical.
Sweet dreams

A quiet 'at home' day, or so I thought...
1. After a 5 year wait the HA sent a man to redesign my kitchen Won't be done til spring but he's followed my design so I get just what I want.
2. Visit from local PCSO re a break-in 4 doors along. She was quite happy with my security and having a dog helps - she gave me a list of contents ins co's (mine is due for renewal on 27th) which give a discount if non smokers/dogs live on the property.
3. Went on line with above list and have saved £39 a year
4. Also on line, bought bags and filters for my vacuum cleaner and saved £7 by not buying locally. Apologies to the village shop but I have to draw the line somewhere
5. Again on line, bought 3 bottles of perfume for pressies from a discount perfume site, saving £37.
Not exactly a nsd, but I've saved over £80 today thanks to the internet.
Night night n God bless, sweet dreams

Good morning. I was feeling a bit down yesterday & didn't go out but I found a few pleasures anyway. The elder 3 kids are getting to me a bit at the moment with not coming home for meals and not letting me know in time. I have so many portions of food in the freezer due to this over the last week that nothing else will fit in there  It just gets to me when I'm making food for 6 and only 3 are in to eat it. Definitely not money saving! It's just life with teens I think so I try very hard not to get too annoyed but it doesn't always work
Acey Glad it went ok at court :T Sounds like you're well shot of him!
1. I enjoyed the fruity chicken curry that I'd made yesterday & there's 3 portions left for the freezer (see above)
2. I got to read my current book for a while in the afternoon.
3. The dogs enjoyed their walk and were running around like mad chasing each other :rotfl:
That's it really. I shall endeavor to have a better day today!0 -
Good morning everybody  - still dark outside at the moment and very quiet so, once again, I'm assuming there's no wind or rain around here right now. dgd1 has just informed me that a forecast of 6deg here today.
scotrae - good luck with the job application and wd on selling a few more books :j. Wd on getting your colour done - mine was done at the weekend - now 'morello cherry' instead of streaky grey.
Primrose - good for you and OH on sorting out your Wills and 'arrangements' - I'm know that your family will bless you for that. I've seen so many cases where people haven't 'made it official' to know what kind of problems that causes.
Tealady - lol at your DD on the phone - they soon learn when spending their own money :rotfl:.
redsquirrel - sorry to hear you didn't get the job that you interviewed for- but I'm sure you'll find something else soon. wd on still having stuff growing in the garden at this time of year.
Muppet - good to hear that 'your girls' are walking on dry ground for a change. Hope you and your ex-neighbour enjoyed your evening.
bella - wd on your bargain jumper :j and hope you enjoy the company fo your 'little visitor'.
Caterina - great to hear that the cough is improving without the anti's - I only spluttered once yesterday - so hoping for better than that today. Wd on your M&S bargains :rotfl:.
nuttybabe - great 'crafty stuff' with toddlers group and your own kids - my DD's house is full of all kinds that her kids have made - none of it ever gets as far as here!
Dazi - good to hear that not all teens are 'mickey takers' - some of the more individual college kids have a great sense of style - so well done on impressing one of them. Trying very hard to open my dgd1's eyes to something other than 'pink-and-fluffy'.
Kitchenbunny - well done you on being able to 'do' crisps/dips - economy of effortand not adding to your gas/electric bill :rotfl:. Good Luck with your Secret Santa plan - have you got a B&M Bargains near you?
for you.
ACEY - Oh dear - your OH wasn't as clever as he thought he was. That fiancee sounds very dim - fancy being so stupid as to lurk outside the Court when they're supposed to have split up :rotfl: - and all in your favour :j. Seriously though, hope everything eventually works itself out. Hope your son and you enjoy his play in school today.
Kittikins - how lovely to be able to stay at your friend's house for tea and your DD to be able to play with the children.
Broomstick - good on your ds1 on the gymnastics coaching.
sparrer - great news that the HA are making a move to sorting out your kitchen :j. Great internet savings too :T.
SunnyGirl - hmmm sounds like your teens are running true to form then - don't turn up for meals - BUT when they do, it's a case of FOOD NOW ! Good Luck with them. Amazing how they can live off cereal and toast for a few years :rotfl:.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Managed to get the minutes for a meeting done and sent for Boss-lady's approval before circulating.
2. Found the wool that I'd been looking for - 2x100gms of purple DK.
3. OH has now decided that we MUST have a new tree this year- personally I can think of better things to spend our money on - but if he wants to pay for it ................. who am I to argue !
4. OH looked after dgd2 while DD went to the dentist. Not good news - lots of fillings needed and also one to come out near the front - will need some kind of 'falsie' to fill the gap.
5. OH returned with dgd1 at teatime - she wanted to stay the night and what's for tea. She got a shock when nothing special planned. Spotted my ruffle scarf pattern (off the knitting thread) and asked could I make her one as she loves them. Made a start (with the purple wool) after tea and only have half of the final row to finish off now.
to all who need them!
That's about all for this morning - and now need to get my asre into gear for the day - hope you all have a good MSE/OS day - love Ollie xxxx
ps - going to try to get my bay windows cleaned and the nets washed and re-hung today.0 -
Good morning all :A
My thoughts are with Kitchenbunny and Acey .. stay strong ladies :A
Caterina - after my x-rays, I received a letter within 4 days asking me to go for 2nd stage screening. They are very quick at recalling anyone with anything suspicious.
1) it is a gorgeous crisp, white days here on my Yorkshire hillside ... a Christmas card day
2) planning a nice day at home to catch up on little jobs I have been putting off and to finish off the last of the cards
3) planning an hour with my nose in a book once I have lit the fire and the lounge is cosy
4) listening to Wogan and a Janet and John story ... only 1 week to go before he finishes so enjoying each moment he is on air. I giggle for ages after hearing a J & John story
5) tonights meal is coming out of the freezer so nice and easy ... morroccan beef casserole plus a veggie version for moi. Will serve with rice and veggies.
Just having a seethe about a message I have received from Mr Muppet who went into work very early today. One of the members of staff had brought in a beautiful and vary intricate home made tart. She had lovingly made it for her son to take into school for the Christmas party as every child had been asked to contribute food. He was told that it could not be used as any food used had to be commecially bought, wrapped and with a sell by date. Poor love had to bring it home again. His Mum has taken it into work and is selling it at £1 a slice for charity. Is it me or has the world gone mad
Have a good day all
xxThank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0
