Hi all
Lurking in quickly while doing work - only a quick one to say:
Well done Acey on court result!
and (((HUGS))) to Sunnygirl for the trouble with her older children - just put your foot down and do not let them have any alternative food if they turn up late - it worked with mine! After a few times of turning up late and not finding anything saved for him he soon learnt to let me know if he was out and wanted me to save him some food. Good luck, it is hard to fight it out with teens, start as you mean to go on!!!
Edited to say thank you Muppet, I don't know how I missed your post with your useful information! Good to know that I won't have to wait forever in case there is something the matter with me!Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Morning all
Mine for today are
1. Going out for a christmas lunch with the department I used to work for, will be nice to catch up with all the guys that I haven't seen for a while. Plus its a free lunch for me.
2. Someone at work was given a hamper off a supplier and he has asked me to raffle it for a charity of my choice. :A
3. Handing out some gingerbread biscuits at work that are from Lidl but yummy and then asking if they want to buy a raffle ticket.:rotfl:
4. Finally finished gathering information for a big audit we have at work on Monday. Big sigh of relief as has been quite hard going.:T
5. Plastic pot suprise out of the freezer or OH and DD tonight, I won't need dinner as eating at lunch time:D
Hugs to all that need them.0 -
Thanks for all the good wishes!
Isn't it cold?! Its been foggy all day as well.
5 for today:
1) Went to watch my little son in his school play. He has selective mutism and he certainly selected it this morning, standing stock still in all the musical numbers (when all the others were swaying and doing the actions) and not singing! Still, he looked dapper in his shirt and my dad's bow tie (he was supposed to be a party goer). Mum and dad went too so that was nice.
2) Got home from that and had a good tidy up, especially my room, and changed my bed.
3) Had yesterday's pasta for lunch, very pleasant with some cheese melted on the top.
4) Got my college homework done.
5) Went to the library, printed my homework out and swapped magazines (free).
6) Got the boys from school and little son had been given a certificate in assembly. Apparently they choose someone from each class when they give out these certificates and his is "greatest improvement in literacy". I'm guessing its because he's gone from knowing 2 words to reading since September! I'm going to frame it in a mo.
7) Got all my Christmas cards sent.
8) Had our favourite comfort food tea. Its better than it sounds: Slice and boil potatoes. (About one per person). Chop up some sausages, I grilled those this evening but sometimes I use a jar of frankfurters. Get a pyrex bowl and mix sliced sausages with tins of baked beans (2 tins for we 3 people). Put sliced potatoes on top, then herbs, then grated cheese. Oven at 180 for about 35 mins.
Little son is begging for a go on Club Penguin so must go! Rather overdid the quota of 5 anyway!

Hi all
Here are my pleasures for today, and a very good day it was!
1 - Woke up feeling much more energetic (cough still here but not so violent anymore), what a relief!
2 - Managed to do a fair amount of work and emailed my boss to say that I was intending to take 2 weeks holidays from 15th December YIPPEE! only a few days away!
3 - Invited DD for a Lunch Special curry in Blackheath. I was a bit worried in case it was going to be one of these frozen veg mishmash things but we had poppadom with pickle and a lovely curry of fresh vegetables (no cubed carrots in sight, only the freshest stuff!) and beautifully cooked Basmati rice - plenty of it! The waiter brought us a large jug of tap water and we enjoyed a lovely meal together. I really wanted to thank her for all she has done while I was ill and she was delighted.
4 - All the above followed up by a nice cup of tea in the Reminiscence Centre.
5 - Back home I had enough energy to sort out some of the laundry, put another lot in and iron DH's shirts. On his return he commented about it and was very pleased.
6 - I also fancied making some craft so I made a cushion cover for a friend as a Christmas present.
7 - DH is doing the cooking (because by now I am really knackered).
Feeling I have achieved a fair amount today, hoping to get fully back into the swing of things soon!
Have a lovely evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Sorry, RainyWednesday, missed your post yesterday, best of luck from me too!

At last:-
1. The house is more or less clean and tidy after our 'holiday'.
2. The freezer is looking fuller with all the baking I've done. Today's contribution:- 3 larges loaves, date wholemeal scones and chocolate cup cakes.
3. DH washed the paintwork for me :T
4. Had a looooong afternoon sleep.
5. It's cold outside and we are warm, fed and clothed :T

Hiya
My five for Friday:
1. I had an afternoon sleep too!
2. Counted the 1 & 2 pences from the piggy bank (which we use to save coppers) and we have just over a fiver's worth.
3. Popped out to visit the second-hand car parts man and DS2 got the parts he needed for his project.
4. We then stopped off at a gorgeous little market town near us which has lots of small shops and medieval houses and it was lovely just walking down the main street looking at things in the windows and smelling the smell of woodsmoke from everyone's wood burning fires. I adore that smell.
5. Got some freebie greenery for the soon-to-be-assembled wreath but couldn't find holly with berries anywhere - I really wanted berries  - so ended up buying a bunch (and getting some pinecones thrown in for free). Had a fun time looking found the garden centre with both children and managed to resist buying anything other than the holly. Next year we won't even buy that!
Sleep well everyone.

1. Finally decorating the tree - and getting the seal of approval from DH. It's the tree I've always dreamed of having in my home. I might try to get a suitably shiny star for the top but the rest are all recycled decorations.
2. Excavating my desk and that half of the conservatory-!!!-dining room. A work in progress but I'm confident it will be ready for visitors tomorrow afternoon and on Sunday.
3. A lady posted on our local Freecycle cafe recently asking for online ideas to entertain her tots. I found some craft books and emailed her. By the time she called round for them I'd got a jigsaw and a set of unused baby books she could take out of my way too.
4. Meeting my boys from school and both were in good spirits - not tired, not hungry, not grumpy. :T We called at 'little Tesco' and I got some whoopsied bread, muffins and their favourite sandwich chicken - teatime sarnies sorted!
5. Spotting a very local, very apt and very interesting job advertised on a national website. It would be a good move and I think I could put a really strong application in --- there again I've thought that one a couple of others lately and not even had acknowledgement. There's another nice local one closing next week too. So I'm trying to tell myself that I SHALL get an interview for at least one of these in the new year.
A busy weekend ahead but right now there's an interesting film on which is stopping me going to bed. A little disturbing but starring Ewan McGregor.
Sleep tight everyone!0 -
Good evening everybody  - the day stayed dry BUT oh so cold and foggy for quite a while. Just been outside to put rubbish out and it's gone foggy again now.
Muppet - I suppose that schools are so afraid of 'come-backs' from parents these days. Sounds gorgeous up there where you live.
Tealady - Hope you enjoyed your Christmas Lunch. Well done on getting the audit prep work done for monday :T and good luck with it. We've just been informed that we must make a note of any christmas presents from tenants that appear to have cost more than £5. Anything over £7 is to be donated to charity or raffled.
ACEY - wd to your youngest son on his school play AND his certificate :T and wd you on framing it for him - I'm sure that will help to boost his confidence.
RainyWednesday - thinking about you- and hope you've got a support network especially for over Christmas/New Year.
Caterina - good to know you're feeling so much better now, though do please go easy on yourself - these coughs can still can come back and get you when you least expect them to. Hope you enjoy your two weeks of freedom from work.
bella - well done on your marathon baking session :T - and your No.5 is something we should all be grateful for :j.
Broomstick - what a lovely afternoon with your ds. Enjoy your wreath making.
scotrae - good luck with the job applications - you go girl!
Mine for today:
1. Freebie Oil of Olay eyepod in the post this morning with a £5 voucher towards some more :j - may give those to my sister as she uses them.
2. Also from postie, a Christmas Card and Calendar from the place where we go on holiday - they never miss- obviously a 'remember the great time you had on holiday' ploy from them BUT we go back there every year regardless
.
3. Whoopsied (49p) Cornish Plait with mash and carrots for evening meal .
4. Finished the Ruffle Scarf - can't believe how quick and simple it was to make. Christmas money-making scheme missed out on there .
5. Baked some Mince Pies this evening - not sure it was a good idea to use Puff Pastry (ready-bought) though - they didn't half swell up in the baking trays. OH's nose is twitching though.
6. Managed to wash my nets, clean the bay windows and re-hang nets this morning - so now all sparkling clean.
7. OH didn't find a Christmas Tree after all - phew - he was on about spending £80 on one . I've got far better ideas on how to spend that amount of money :rotfl:. So tomorrow our normal one will go up and get decorated - I've spent around £10 on some new baubles for it and that is QUITE enough extra.
8. Planning a trip to our shopping centre tomorrow but don't actually need a lot of shopping - MUST remember cornflour though - had none for a couple of months lol.
Going to get ready for bed now - been a long day. speak again in the morning - nitey nite all - love Ollie xxx0
