Today's 5...
1. Wrapped all the presents in one afternoon, all done and everything cleared away (until I decide I'll 'just buy this' for someone, or 'so-and-so would like that'..)
2. Took the covers off the sofas, first lot in the wash. A real wrestling job and even worse to put back on, it takes me a good day but they look lovely when they're done
3. Redecorated the tree, the new lights have black flex and looked awful so put the old ones with white flex on...looks much better now
4. Did an extra phone duty for my fellowship and enabled somebody get themselves some help, a duty I took on grudgingly but then was thankful that I did
5. Very cold and frosty but still no snow, thank goodness. I don't do cold!
Night night God bless, sweet dreams

 evening everybody - getting very
outside tonight.
sparrer - sorry to hear about your Aussie friend - wonder if there's anything like 'Singing for the Brain' down-under? Maybe that's something that his family could look into on his behalf, if he's no longer up to doing things like that for himself. Shame about the candle-seller - his attitude lost him a sale there. Hope you leave him some 'very honest' feedback! Wd you on 'womanning the phone line' - that person will be so grateful for the help you gave today :A. Well done on all the pressie wrapping that you've done!
Broomstick - Good for you on the 'tidy sewing box' - love it when mines just been done and I can put my hand on absolutely ANYTHING I need - unfortunately it doesn't stay like that for very long. Hope the show goes well
.
Tealady - well done on a couple of really busy days there - don't forget to update us on mil's good news - please God that she's won the lottery. Hope the remainder of the audit went well.
Nomoneymummy - your evening of party-hat making sounds brilliant - and taking the opportunity of a shared meal too :T. Hope your Gramps is doing well and on the way to full recovery.
redsquirrel - wd on keeping up your running even in the rather chilly evenings :j.
ampersand - I couldn't get the link that you gave to work, but I googled and came up with this one - not sure if it's the same video though: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3eol3_stanislas-le-manege_music my 'schoolgirl french' is no longer up to translating the song, but it's a beautiful piece of filming/music.
MoneyMission - wd on your bargain pressie hunting AND on your waste reducing. Also wd to your children on their nativity play :T.
billy858 - how very unfair of your firm/organisation to only provide for part of the staff to celebrate Christmas- but congrats on one of the customers appreciating your service. Enjoy your break from work :j!
nuttybabe - wd to your ds in his nativity play and hope your dd enjoyed her party. wtg on the bailey's fudge .
newlywed - lovely to see you post againfor you. Wtg to your family on the say they've all rallied around to support you while you've been recovering. Make sure that you don't try to rush things too much - don't want a set-back at this stage of things
.
bella - wd on your shopping session with your DD - love the way you two are so organised about your lunch/coffee :T.
kiwiblue - welcome back kiwi - great to see you again. Sorry to hear that your tenant gave you such trouble but good that you managed to pluck up the courage to be rid of her :j. If she hasn't gone yet, make sure you keep a watch on her. Good Luck to you and OH on your new venture together.
scotrae - wd on your ds's making the pots of gold for their teachers. I'm sure they'll be well appreciated for the effort that's gone into them. Enjoy your trip to London - I'm sure that your ds will love it when he gets there - though not sure that your pocket will . Fingers crossed that your OH keeps his 'bugs' to himself.
ACEY - sorry to hear that your ex and his g/f are still breaking the 'no contact' rule where she's concerned - surely to goodness she can keep her distance for the couple of hours that the boys are at his place! Hope the boys enjoy their panto and party and wd you on finally getting the grate for your log-burner :T.
Dazi - wtg on keeping your stress-levels down while shopping with your DSD. Your Christmas is soooooo organised - wd you :j.
69chick -and welcome to you. Hope your girls enjoyed their 'first school party' - and wd to you on your moneysaving/waste reducing efforts :T.
Broomstick - good for you getting an exchange on your Lush present - and on such great effort to get what you could use. Hope all goes well for the full production of the show.
Mine for today:
1. Toast and Porridge with honey on for brekkie .
2. Visit from DS1 this morning for his usual cuppa and chat. He has to go to Hull tomorrow for work and has asked my OH to go with him for company on the journey- OH is pleased to be asked.
3. Quiet day in work again - but loads of cards from the tenants.
4. Phone call from DS2 to ask could be have dgs3 for a couple of hours this evening - my gorgeous 'Billy-blue-eyes aka Bouncing Billy'.
5. Met up with dgd1 in the shopping centre and took her shopping for pressies for a couple of friends and her half-brother and half-sister that she only met a couple of weeks ago (long story). OH, dgd1 and myself had our tea in Asda before getting some shopping. Under £10 for the three meals and no cooking for me :T. A few more presents bought and some whoopsied veggies including French Beans and Sprouts. All now prepped, blanched and frozen for over Christmas. Also got a whoopsied Galia Melon (16p), large mushrooms for stuffing tomorrow (35p), Organic Plum Tomatoes (59p), Yellow plum tomatoes (65p), Plums (50p), Kiwifruit (59p for a punnet) and a seeded-batch loaf (75p).
6. DS2 collected us from the shop :T - Salvation Army Band were in the entrance so they got the 'taxi fare' instead.
7. Billy-blue-eyes eventually settled down without any crying and was fast asleep when DS2 called to take him home.
8. Dgd1 asked me to read to her - she's 11 . She closed her eyes and dozed off to me reading 'From a Railway Carriage'.
9. Lots of lovely comments on my Christmas Tree.
10. DS2 asked OH to accompany him on a Winter Walking Trip to the Lake District around Christmas/New Year. He's so delighted about this - they both love mountains/the great outdoors and have had some great mini-expeditions together over the years. DS2 has previously organised a couple of 3-Peaks Challenges.
I'm about done for this evening. Hope everybody has a great night's sleep.to all who need them - love Ollie xxx

Hi Olliebeak
Thanks for your words of warning. Unfortunately the law here means that I must give a minimum of 90 days notice, even though she doesn't pay her rent. Yes it will be a difficult time, but I feel so much better that I have taken positive action instead of just continuing to hope that she would pay. The latest excuse was the "last straw", she wanted to go on holiday and didn't have enough spending money, so she stopped the rent for a few weeks.
Enough mithering on, its over and done with
Cheers

Can be difficult to get rid of an awkward tenant here too - sometimes you need a Court Order which isn't always given - depends on the judge. I work for a Housing Association and we sometimes have problems getting an order against a tenant - though things are getting better.
While she's serving her notice, make sure that you exercise whatever Landlord's Rights you have with regard to checking condition of the property etc before she leaves.
Good Luck!0 -

Hi everyone, brrrr it's chilly down here, I'm going to get my walking boots out to go to work today as I'm petrified of falling over on ice, grrr. Come back summer, I miss you!
Anyway.....
Made another batch of gingerbread biscuits for DD's school party today, the last batch for our friend's do went down a storm on Sunday, this is definitely a tried and tested recipe now
Am getting my head together to get back on the diet, and also making plans for things to do whilst on my own for a couple of days. The best parts will be, that as my back is much better, I'll aim to go swimming every day, and have a wonderful massage lined up very close to home which will be half the price of going to a salon. I can't wait to be pampered......
Paid £13.42 in to the mortgage this morning, love all this cash rolling in from Amaz8n sales
DD brought home her first "special things" book from school, full of examples of her writing, drawing, photos of her with 2 or 3-d things (note to self - I really need to start reading those primary school books I bought recently, maths and science-type stuff whooshes over my head!). It is such a lovely record and it's amazing to see how much they've done in one term - not least because DD is only part-time! A very happy mummy here
Going out for lunch with work today, yum yum chinese food and my purse can stay in my bag
Am supposed to be going out for dinner tonight - paying for myself but it'll be nice to see these girls.
The other day I bought some lovely 100-piece Di$ney jigsaws from Mr M supermarket for only 78p! That's 5 girls' birthday party presents sorted then(I'm glad I have a lot of storage in my house, the amount of goodies I stash during the year is amazing)
Bought some theatre tickets for me and DD to enjoy next year. We haven't been to see a play in ages and so we now have 2 trips to a theatre with lovely gardens outside to enjoy next spring, hopefully we can have our traditional picnics
Right, I'd better get DD's uniform on the radiators to warm and wake the little cherub up. Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Morning all.
Mine for yesterday are:
1. The view out of the office I was working in yesterday. It overlooks the docks at Portsmouth, quite an inductrious view but I loved it all the same
2. A succesfull audit, this is my first one in new job so really pleased and had some really positive feedback plus a collegue gave me a box of chocs as a thank you:beer:
3. Getting home at a reasonable time, no lift today but managed to make all my connections on the trains.
4. YS bread in little Mr.T for sandwiches today for everyone
5. Finding out we don't need to have very expensive repair work done on the car next week as originally thought. The money can stay in the going to New York for 40th birthday fund.:T
Ollie - Going to see MIL on Sunday so will update then.....0 -
Morning everyone. I have not been posting for a few days as I've been feeling very down about DH's job situation and the children have been driving me mental!! I took myself up to lie on the bed after tea last night and read until it was sleeping time so I feel somewhat re-charged this morning.
I came to the conclusion that there are people in a much worse state than us and to pull my socks up and get on with it
I've missed loads of posts and don't know if I'll manage to read back so I'll say ((big hugs)) for those who need them and I hope that everyone is well?
My pleasures:
1. Reading in the bedroom with the door shut to the noise, arguing and hooning around knowing that DH would deal with it :T
2. Paid another £10 to next years Christmas savings :money: By the end of October I should have £450 ready to go
3. Saw my best friend on Monday so we had a good natter/moan/laugh about DH's, kids, dogs, Mothers ....... all the usual things!
4. The fridge is almost empty (I'm due to go shopping shortly) but I already have tonights meal sorted out. HM pasta sauce with ham stirred into it served with penne pasta with grated cheese on top
5. Coming back on this thread to read everyone's uplifting posts.
I am missing going to a nativity play/school concert as my youngest started high school this year and they don't do things like that really. It's the first year since 1995 that I haven't sat with tears in my eyes watching little ones be Mary & Joseph etc. I shall live through all the lovely posts on here about nativities and enjoy them that way.
With much love to you all & I hope that you all have a good OS day

Hi everyone, and big hugs to those who need/want them
My five are:
1. went to the beach with OH last night, the godwits are back, the Royal Spoonbills had increased to 6 (the population here has been static at 5 for the last few years, so its great to see another one) and we were the only people for miles. I am sooooo going to miss the isolation here, but the new property is only a few minutes drive from the beach, and there always have to be compromises in everything. Plus the new property is at the other end of the beach (about 20 miles) so we can easily drive back here.
2. Beautiful sunny day, plan to spend it gardening.
3. Going to the lake house for a mini break with OH
4. Planning to go fishing on the lake tomorrow, so maybe trout for dinner!
5. Just feeling at peace now the life changing decisions have been made
Blessings be

69chick Welcome, and well done on your first post, it's easy once you start isn't it and certainly makes you focus on the good things in life.
My pleasures today:-
1. Making white bread rolls in the Remoska, I forgot them and they are somewhat overdone, but hey, haven't you seen bread with almost black crusts in the best of bakers?
2. Made blueberry muffins and managed to cook these just to perfection.
3. Made leek and potato soup for lunch, sooo scrummy.
4. A walk to the shops with DH.
5. :j:j:j P*&ndland.
