Good afternoon all. Been really busy lately so trying to catch up. My recent blessings,
1. A positive few days.
2. Watching a squirrel hanging upside down from the bird feeder getting peanuts.
3. Going Carol singing with a local group.
4. A weekend walk in the woods and lunch out.
5. All ready for christmas (and feeling a little smug until a card arrived from someone I hadn't sent one to!)
6. Feeding the christmas cake by injecting it with brandy - smells fab!
7. A token christmas gift from a client. It means so much to be appreciated especially since only the office staff had a christmas meal this year - to which we weren't invited.
8. After tomorrow I won't be working until after boxing day.
9. Loving how my christmas tree looks lit up in the window when I walk past the front of my house.
10. DD2 putting a funny festive screensaver on the computer.
I'm feeling like a cloud has lifted at the moment.

Hi all, been missing for a while - been feeling too glum to even read this thread most days.
Feeling a bit better now but still got a while till I'm back at work so need to focus the mind a bit....
1. After 5 weeks of twice weekly visits to the nurse - finally not needing to go again as the wound has now closed up!
2. Being more able to cook now as have a little more strength.
3. Having the supermarket deliver so I don't have to go get it/carry it.
4. Spending extra time with my mum while I'm off work.
5. Getting my money's worth out of a daily bus ticket yesterday (coz I get really tired if I walk anywhere so used loads more buses than I would have done).
Last but definitely not least - all the cups of tea made by OH and stepson while I've been poorly, and the lunches and meals my mum has made for me and all the running about, bits from the chemist, lifts to the dr's etc, that everyone has done for me.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Ah newlywed good to see you back. Hope this means your feet are now planted on the road to recovery.
1. Feeling more serene and less rushed off my feet than I have recently. Hope it lasts because I have been like a Whirling Dervish.
2. Shopping trip with DD preceeded by the usual scone and coffee at home.
3. Lunch in the car again to save pennies and queues. Hm soup in a flask for me. Yum and warming on this cold day.
4. A lie down and a nap when I got home.
5. After buying a large half price beef joint and a full price rolled shoulder of lamb (DS's favourite) I made tuna rissotto for tea tonight. Got to save the pennies where I can.

Hi everyone
Back after a long absence, having decided to sort out issues in my life, and I now intend to face the New Year with positivity, and to get rid of the negatives that tie me down. To that end I take great pleasure in providing the five following pleasures.
1. Attitude transplant, I will not allow so many people to take advantage of me. Which leads me to no 2.
2. Giving notice to one of my tenants, tired of her not paying rent and telling me its because I don't need her rent! Which leads me to no3.
3. Listing above house with a land agent, because:
4. Purchased a small farm and
5. Having fun with DH, going over the house plans and working out where everything is to go - and as we are moving from a 2500sq foot house into a 1500 sq foot house, it will be a bit of a squeeze.
Blessings be to all, its great to be back

DSx2 made some really sweet festive models with colourful modelling clay when they got home.
DSx2 asked to make some 'pots of gold' when they saw I'd got some more gold-wrapped sweets and chocs. They did one each, which they can take in for their teachers tomorrow. At their school, I'm pretty sure that nobody else will have done anything like that! Hopefully the teachers will appreciate it when they are more used to expensive wines!
I bought a pack of marked-down pork mince and dry-fried it with leeks, apricot and herbs to make wraps for tea. DSs were both very pleasantly surprised, having initially refused the concept. One requested seconds and one had thirds.
Reading through some more replies to my post about things to do on our budget trip to London. I'm very excited. Hopefully this will rub off on DS1, who's had another young pal telling him all about the wonderful foreign holiday that they are going on over the next few weeks.
I'm going to substitute something from the other day for my No.5 ... I found a ten pound note among some receipts in a drawer! Long gone now but what a surprise!
DH wasn't in a good way when he went to work this morning and actually brought himself back to bed at 2ish. He's already cancelled his place at his club Christmas lunch/afternoon/evening tomorrow, even though he's been looking forward to that for months. I'm hoping it was the Saver paste sandwich he made himself yesterday after it had been open since Friday, rather than a bug which we're all going to come down with before Christmas.0 -
Well, I'm feeling a bit out of sorts. Still annoyed about the silly councillor's racist comment yesterday. I don't know whether to email the vicar about it. Considering I'm a non-Christian single mother, I'm surprised she stopped to sing here either!!
The ex also let everyone down yesterday. It is straightforward enough and reinforced by SIX court sessions and a social services report - his fiancee is NOT to have contact with my sons. Believe me, they don't make rulings like that on a whim! So yesterday, the first time after court when the boys went for tea with the ex, whom should pull up in her car outside, get out, wave to the boys and have a long conversation with the ex? Yes, she did! So that's yet another fierce solicitor's letter sent to him.
Anyway, 5 for today!
1) Worked at school all day doing Christmassy things.
2) Got to watch my older son (year 4) doing his Christmas play for the younger years. I didn't get at all emotional until the very last number... They have a backing CD and it jumped then stopped. One teacher was doing the lighting, the other was trying to fix the CD. The children looked a bit worried then, as one, started singing again where they had had to stop, twice as loud as before!
3) An Amaz0n parcel arrived so I can send that off to my Uni friend's little daughter tomorrow. I also had some cards and a plant off the teacher I work with!
4) Had to phone the solicitor about the ex's silliness yesterday. I always worry I am bothering her over nothing but today she was especially helpful and supportive. She wants me to go to court on Thursday to watch my ex's trial for fraud. (!) Its tempting but what if his mum or his horrid fiancee are in the public gallery?? Not that his mum's horrid but that would be a bit strange!
5) Did 30 minutes of the step aerobics on the Wii whilst watching Robson Green go swimming.
6) Cooked 30 fairy cakes and iced them for bigger son's class party tomorrow.
7) Did a massive Tesco online shop, coming tomorrow between 9 and 11!
8) Brought in as many logs as I could stack either side of the stove so I shan't have to go out in the wind and weather to do that for a week or so.
Quite looking forward to tomorrow. Its plain clothes day for the boys, pantomime and party at school. I've got college first thing. One of my classmates' husband works for a local carpet manufacturer and he's picked up the cast iron part I need for the stove on a run to Yorkshire!!

mine for the last few days
1) sunday...going shopping in near big town and not finding it as stressful as I thought I would (i hate shopping, think the internet was made for me)
2) finding a dress that isnt too dressy and one that I will wear again after xmas day, and better still finding that BHS had 20% off
3) not getting annoyed that DSD got her stuff in half hour and retreated to the car in a sulk (I hadan't finished my shopping so she had to waitusually I get stressed and think if she isnt happy I have to go along with it, this time I did what I wanted to and OH told her to sit in car and wait!
4) Not cooking after said day out on Sunday, and OH treated me to a takaway, is it bad to think I had a cheeseburger for Sunday tea......I will enjoy xmas dinnner all the more for not eating loads of roasts lol
5) getting loads of stuff wrapped up, and making 'adult' goody bag style pressies for our early xmas buffet for OHs kids (grown up) next weekend, have done socks in cupcaike mugs for the females and 'guiness' glasses for the males, all ideas from the occasions board on here
extra one for me are that I only worked half hour extra yesterday and today when it is our wages week, usually it is hour and a half :jwhoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

Have only just come accross this thread and thought I would try to see if I can think of 5 pleasures from today...
1. Got ds and twin dd's to school on time and without too much stress and it was the girls nursery party and it was lovely to see them so excited...
2. Had a good friend over for lunch and had a really lovely chat also dh had made us both scrumptious sandwiches...
3. Made 'snowman soup' with ds and they actually look ok!! am really pleased with them..
4. seeing ds all showered, with geled hair and his best clothes on ready to go to his beaver scouts christmas party.
5. Used up the rest of a pasta sauce for me and dh for tea which I may well have thrown away before..
That was easier than I thought!!...its been lovely reading all your posts....I will make a point of popping back here from time to time as it just makes you stop and think fo a bit...Thanks :TStarting with Avon C6 target sales £150.000 -
Hiya - my five pleasures for Tuesday:
1. Lunch with my parents.
2. Going into town and taking a present back to Lush to see if they would exchange it. It had been given to me and I was unable to use it but still really wanted a Lush 'treat' - the idea was lovely. The sales assistant was super and helped me choose four other treatsy things that I can use. It's felt as if I've been given the present three times: once when I unwrapped the first one and then again today when I've enjoyed selecting the replacement for free and now that I've started to use it (the smell of the lemony nail cream I've just used is yummy).
3. Sorting out some problems with my mobile phone in an almost empty phone shop so I was helped straight away - no queues or waiting which was unusual.
4. Renewing an academic library ticket that I thought was going to need an extra reference in order to get it active again, but I didn't need it and I now can get my library-based research going again. It was really easy to sort out. Infact, all my dealings with people I've needed to help me with things today have been easy and pleasant.
5. Attending another rehearsal - this time a run-through of the second half of the show - all went very well and the children seemed happy.
It's flipping freezing here tonight so I'm off to bed to get some more work done before crashing out. Today's been a bit of a stop-start one as far as work is concerned. My hottie kettle is singing to me...
Sweet dreams
