CCP is that the plant stall on the seafront in Southsea??
Well hello all - I have been away for a while but have found some time to come back and catch up on some lovely OS pleasures....just been sooo busy since moving house at the end of Feb. We have also taken on a rescue spaniel so with 2 doglets I am very busy.
So, pleasures fro Friday to today:
1) We got an Ofsted grade 1 outstanding at work so it was cake and smiles all round.
2) Went out on Friday night to celebrate with work people where I spent hardly any money because managers were buying drinks.
3) A friend came and picked me up and gave me a lift home so I didn't have to pay for a taxi
4) The butcher I have started going to was expecting me and had already cut up a pile of bones for the dogs which was nice of him.
5) Walked 7 miles from home to work to pick my car up from previous evening - went along some footpaths I hadn't used before, some lovely views over the back of Portsdown Hill.
6) Gave the house and car a mammoth spring clean - ached afterwards but felt so good!
7) Early walk with the dogs this morning - went up 2 massive killer hills but didn't have to stop for a breather (I just made myself keep going) - the views were wonderful and met lots of friendly cyclists and walkers.
8) OH is away this weekend but my lovely doglets are keeping me company, looking forward to seeing him later :smileyhea
Have a lovely Sunday all!Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000 -
hello, im new here so only have four pleasures for today/yesterday!
1. meal planned for the whole week using what was in the freezer already
2. went to mums to swap some rhubarb for potatoes (we both had too much of each) and got two shirts and a jumper that didn't fit her as well! thanks mum
3. cooked up the rhubarb today to use in my breakfasts next week mmmm
4. just transformed two ill-fitting band t-shirts into halter neck tops that fit
really enjoying this forum0 -
Hi all,
here's mine:
1. I have lost 4 lbs. No need to buy any new clothes, if I keep this up I'll be able to fit into the ones stuck at the back of my wardrobe!!
2. Leek and tatty soup for lunches next week bubbling away.
3. Butternut squash for dinner, baking in the oven.
4. Feeling happier now that the weight seems to be moving in the right direction and my waistbands aren't quite so tight.
5. A peaceful evening ahead once the kids go back to their mums.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hello, haven't had chance to post yesterday's yet
1. Was really low and depressed yesterday, and was a tad overdramatic about a few things with OH, who patiently held my hand and stroked my hair even when I was being a b1tch to him! Apparently it takes a lot more than that to annoy him, I don't know if I should be relieved or think of it as a challenge(no!!!!!)
2. Managed to get all the washing done and dried
3. Went to see the gorgeous little baby who had all the problems when she was born and had hours of gorgeous cuddles with her, she slept on me most of the afternoon which really chilled me out
4. DD and the baby's big brother had a lovely time playing and then cuddling baby - then deciding that they both wanted to be cuddled like babies with the mummies whilst OH attempted to wind the baby after her feed!
5. Made what looked like the world's worst thai curry for dinner but it tasted reasonably okay and I've got leftover rice for salad yum yum
6. OH and I had a long chat about the things that were upsetting me, and I think he understands and I'm really pleased that I feel I can tell him exactly what ticks me off/makes me sad without fear.
7. Slept like a log after I'd got everything off my chest!
8. Hobbled around all day without my crutch and felt reasonably okay (wait for today's pleasures.....lol).
9. Went to a local school fete and had a lovely time.
Today:
1. DD was very excited about her show rehearsal at lunchtime
2. Lovely "family" breakfast with DD and OH, we all had different food so I was a busy mummy but a happy one
3. Whilst DD was rehearsing, I went shopping and will soon have all over brown hair rather than my greying mop!
3. Read some of my library book
4. Did some shopping and naughtily bought us pizza for tea as I can't be bothered to cook tonight
5. DD came in for silly chats, poems and cuddles this morning
6. Thanks to walking around without a stick yesterday, I'm in a lot of pain today but have forced myself to take it reasonably easy and am planning a very cosy, early night (basically if I didn't have DD here, i'd be in bed already and enjoying a snooze!!)
7. Watching Shrek2 with my sleepy DD, neither of us have seen it before and I forgot someone gave it to me ages ago so a freebie that makes up for the cost of the pizza - or something like that
8. Just picked up a voicemail and have bought 2 fab things at a silent auction at the primary school fete we went to yesterday - a £20 shoe shop voucher for £12 (which I will keep for the next time DD needs school shoes) and, I'm really excited about this one, £27 for a piece of fingerprint jewellery instead of £75, I've wanted to have DD's print on a heart for ages and so this will be my 40th present to myself (I bought myself a piece of jewellery for my 21st as well). So, not particularly moneysaving, but I'm a happy Kittikins.
9. Dropped OH back home, and then 'had' to go back to his for a bit after the rehearsal as DD wanted to do something, so I got to have some more sneaky kisses and handholding
10. Saw 4 lovely ducks at OH's house and DD fed them some seeds
11. Got a new sim only deal at Te$co's today which will work out cheaper than the excess I seem to keep on paying on my current contract, the plan is to get rid of my contract as soon as possible, but in the meantime switch phones each month when I get to my limit on my contract which now I'm being more sociable is happening earlier and earlier in the month
12. Just applied for a 2-month friends and family railcard via this site so hopefully going to have some much-needed girly weekends soon0 -
Evening all.
seehar - welcome to the thread! I'm loving the idea of rhubarb for breakfast - I'll have to get some so I can do the same.
niksyg - yes, it is - the one with the red and white stripes. Please pop in if you and the doglets happen to go for a walk on Southsea beach on a Saturday afternoon - it would be great to meet you.
Broomstick - it might have been a moorhen you saw - was it one of these? If so, you were lucky to see the babies as they're quite shy birds.
It's been a grey, chilly sort of a day in Portsmouth, one of those days where it's hard to find the energy to do anything much - so I haven't.
1) Long lie-in this morning - the time was in double figures by the time I woke up.
2) NSD.
3) Lots of cuddles with the mog, who seems to be trying to make up for his attack of grumpiness last night when he suddenly raked his claws down my arm for no reason.(Except that he's a cat, which is all the reason he really needs!
)
4) Nice chat with my DM: we've arranged that she and my DF will come over for dinner one night this week. :j
5) Washed and chopped a load of salad leaves so they're all ready for lunches this week and I have no excuse for buying something unhealthy instead of taking a salad with me.
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hello Ladies,
I didn't manage pot yesterday so this will be my pleasures from the weekend.
1) Volunteered at the Moonwalk - it wa really good fun with a great atmosphere. Most people were really lovely.
2) Went to the library and picked up a few books. Read Jodi Picoult - Handle with Care. I find her books a little "samey" but it was interesting nonetheless. I am reading it for a book club that I am hoping to join on Friday.
3) Took the mog to the vet and though he is a tad over weight 7.3kg!!!!) - he has a little heart murmur but the vet wasn't too bothered by that. He was happy to come home.
4) Chatted with my mum on skype... why is it when I had to pay for the calls she wanted to chat for half an hour and now they are free she only wants quick calls?!?
5)Swapped some tomato plants with someone from badminton. I felt a little bad as the ones I gave him were tiny and the ones he gave me were more... mature!
6) Chatted with my friend in Australia on facebook. You may recall she has mental health issues and was becoming paranoid. Well she seems to be feeling a lot better which is great to hear.
7) Naps
Night all...
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Oh no Frith, '
' won't do, we need more than that!
Welcome Seehar, four is a great start. How do you turn tee shirts into halters? Sounds interesting
Kittikins how lovely to hear about the baby, so pleased she's improving
Ladyhawk well done on helping at the moonwalk. Some friends took part, two of whom were diagnosed and are fortunately well today
newlywed congratulations on your loss
1. Went for fuel but the petrol station I wanted (gives Nectar points) was closed awaiting a delivery, so drove to the next one which was a Mr S and also gave points - and was a penny cheaper
2. Good run down to Henley, no stop/starting on the Mways so quite economical
3. Lunch out, wasn't the best we've ever had but quite reasonably priced which was its one saving grace
4. DM has hurt one of her feet so I did her shopping while she sat by the check-outs. Got everything on her list, she was very surprised that it cost £'s less than when she does it herself without compromising on quality. She isn't comp lit, so no MSE advice. Poor DM
5. Got home to find neighbours DD had watered my hanging baskets
Night night, sleep tight

Evening everyone.
CCP, I think you may be right, it may have been a moorhen - there isn't anything else remotely similar that it matches on the RSPB website although my adult definitely looked black all over and I couldn't really identify a yellow tip to her beak either, although the babies' red beaks looked a bit lighter at the tip so could have been yellow. Her nest was under a bushy tree growing down over a very old stone wall into an un-navigable backwater off the canal in the city centre - she'd chosen a really good spot. I think I will try to get to spend a bit more time there next week to see if they are 'in residence'.
Which leads on to my five pleasures for today:
1. Discovering the RSPB website and going through every picture of the native birds listed. Thanks CCP! I'll be using that site a lot.
2. Got DS1 back from his weekend away. He'd had a lovely time from the sounds of it.
3. Did lots of cooking including a big pot of organic watercress soup ready to freeze (for 'soup and pudding' suppers) and organic orange water ice to die for. We had some tonight but there's a portion each left for tomorrow night when we get home late.
4. More knitting and radio.
5. We have lots of food in stock to make packed lunches early next week - I'm starting to get back to being as organised as I was earlier in the year which is very encouraging.
Sweet dreams

5 for today.
1) Very long lie in. Boys brought the laptop into bed and they watched Dr Who and I fell back to sleep until gone 11am!! Missed one phone call and my early rising sister knocking on the door while I was asleep.
2) Bigger son had 2 friends round and all the boys were really well behaved and got on famously together.
3) Pizza and baked potatoes for tea, enjoyed by all.
4) My school friend came round at 4ish and helped out with sons and friends then stayed on for a good chat.
5) Took one of son's friends home and I recognised his mum and it turns out she worked for the same district council as me years ago, albeit a different section.
6) OH seems on top form today although I have only seen him for 5 minutes here and there during the day.0 -
Morning
Ladyhawk - Well done on volunteering at the Moonwalk, the volunteers did a fantastic job and kept all the walkers going through the night.
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
1. Fun day at work on Friday, not that much work got done. Friday lunch time was spent making finishing touches to moonwalk accessories.
2. Free lunch at work on Friday as pizza was ordered in for the work Moonwalk team (9 of us)
3. Completed the 26.2 miles of the moonwalk. Was a fantastic night with a great atmosphere and London looked beautiful in the dawn light. Plus are team have raised about £3,000 so far for a fantastic cause.
4. No blisters, feet are sore but feel ok
5. DD making me a lovely cup of tea when I got home yesterday
Hugs to all who need them and I hope all the poorlies are feeling better NOW0
