5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Hi
I didn't post yesterday as ran out of time so this is a couple of days worth
1. Met a friend and had a good day out catching up while looking at roof tiles on houses.
2. Found more asparagus.
3. Helped out a neighbour with her dog who is recovering well.
4. DS2 being very grown up over some disappointment.
5. Lovely warm weather.
6. Used up change in a supermarket selfservice. My bill came to £3.53 and didn't pay with anything larger than a 20p. It was very quiet.0 -
I am going to post early & step away from computer for the evening!
1.Got my great niece/nephew's latest photos sent by email.....it looks like she/he was sucking their thumb! Was told in email not to cry but I did cry anyway!
2.Dropped kids off at school.....their pleasure! I had PTA meeting at school, went on for ages. It is quite different in some ways to back home but I did ask for things to be more organised for future events......even managed to put it nicely (I think!) and explained about my inner control freak which I have to keep on top off but which gets edgy when things are left to late!!
3. Went into next town & had a quick wander round mall, got 2 fabulously gorgeous cushions ( I do love cushions!) which were in a bargain bin reduced to $2.30, which is about 1pound 40p. They are all appliqued & be-ribboned & have buttons & are just so pretty! I had a good rake in very deep cage they were in, incase there were more! I had visions of me ending up with feet sticking out of top! However, only 2 so they must have been end of ranges!
4.Popped into supermarket & very naughtily got an iced apple cake (that's what I went in for!)
however, it is a pleasure eating it but I do need to cut back down on the sugar again!
5.Have not done much this afternoon, sat huddled near small electric heater trying to absorb all the heat! Ghastly outside, very windy & rainy. We have gum trees across from our house & they swish & swoosh in the wind making a lovely swishy-swooshy noise!
6. Picked kids up and DD2 was at her first music contest, her choir came 3rd which I think is just fine for her first attempt!
Not sure what we are having for tea tonight......my always hungry, 6 foot, skinny malinky son's first question every day when he gets in for school is always "What's for dinner?" so he doesn't like it when his mum says "oh don't know!" Will rustle something up!
Enjoy your Friday x0 -
Evening all.
I've spent most of my day off shopping, which isn't a very OS thing to do even if I did get some good bargains: I was particularly pleased to find the new doormat I was planning on ordering online reduced from £20 to £12 simply because it had lost its plastic wrapping. I think I'll feel more enthusiastic about the green and MS benefits of my bargain when my arms have stopped aching from dragging the damn thing home on the train, though!
A few of the more OS good things about my day:
1) A nice lie-in this morning as I didn't have to get up for work.
2) Found £2 in the ticket machine at the station.
3) Got stopped on the street and asked to do a survey about home baking, for which I was paid £3, and I got to go inside a historic building which isn't usually open to the public. Double win!
4) After a rather grey, chilly morning, it turned into a lovely sunny day - I didn't need my coat and barely needed my shirt, either. (Which I was wearing over a vest top, I hasten to add - I wasn't planning on walking around in my bra!)
5) Dinner from the freezer tonight: just take out, defrost and warm through. I love meals like that when I've been out all day.
Broomstick - I hope you're feeling better today. Thanks for reminding me of stuffed courgettes: I haven't had those in ages and will have to slot them into my mealplan again soon.
Frith - I watched that documentary, too - wasn't it interesting? I really want to read the saga they were talking about now: I'll have to see if there's an English translation in one of my local second-hand bookshops (unlikely, but you never know!).
sparrer - a neighbour two doors down from me has a white lilac and it had so many flowers this year it even perfumed my garden, which made me very happy!
Ladyhawk - very well done with your interview. I'm sure your boss will be able to see the benefits of keeping you rather than letting you slip away - good luck with that discussion.
Have a lovely Friday evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
hi all, don't seem to have time to keep up with the thread these days - and when I do have time I can't get on the laptop as someone else is on it.
Anyway, here's mine for today:
1. Peace and quiet as OH and the boys have gone out.
2. Been able to dust and tidy the front room without any bodies laying about on the sofas.
3. Had the last remaining salmon fillet from the freezer with corn on the cob and jersey royals (yellow stickered)
4. Got to Sainsbug at lunchtime just as the guy was yellow stickying the fish - got some nice smoked haddock now safely in my freezer
5. Our heating has now been fixed - it was turning on every time the water heated up and belting out the heat with no regard to the thermostat or timer - so that should save some money
6. OH put his tax return in early and as he pre-pays tax they have repaid him (he didn't earn much) so that means he has money to cover direct debits this month.
7. Getting to catch up on superscrimpers and makedoandmend that I recorded - whilst the TV is all mine!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Evening all
1) Quick chat with mum this morning to let her know I've booked a flight home for the end of May
2) Free bacon and egg roll at work
3) Brought home lots of free fruit from work....should last me the weekend
4) Found £1 on my fleece pocket
5) Dropped off some more books at the library and they were having a free fruit taster - I tried some Dragon fruit (bit bland) and a Sharon fruit (quite tasty)
6) Lots of reduced bits in Asda - lovely roasted chicken reduced to £2 and the meat was falling off the bone :shhh:
7) Got my washing dried out on the line this afternoon
8) Finally got around to sewing the buttons back on my winter coat now it's summer
9) Surfing the Waterstones website to find books I might want to reserve on the library website. I've also found that if the library hasn't got it I can request they buy it - might do that soon
10) Not turning the tv on for the last two nights and it's not on now - I've really enjoyed the silence and just reading my books :rotfl:
Hope you all had a good day
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
1. Saw the doctor about my leg and am going for an x-ray on Monday, but in good news I might have the right combination of painkillers in stock at home, as the dr suggested painkillers that I think I have already, so saved myself £7.20.
2. Spent most of the day asleep as the walk to/from the doctor took nearly an hour each way (should take about 15 minutes maximum), but my bed is lovely and comfy
3. Nice texts from OH, but *sigh* yet another night when he's not well enough to come and see meFingers crossed he'll be better by tomorrow...
4. Car was serviced and MOT'd so I'm legal to driveThey even cleaned the jalopy for me - so a "saving" of about £15 on getting it valeted
5. DD has gone for tea at a friend's and should be back for cuddles and an early night soon
6. Went to A$da and bought some bargains, and will be "saving" some money as I bought a couple of items of clothing for me that look gruesome so they'll be going back as soon as I can muster up the energy to drive there again....
7. Planning yet another quiet night in on my own but here's hoping that every minute I rest is a minute closer to being painfree.
8. Planning a picnic with friends and children tomorrowLet's hope the sun plays ball
9. DD was awarded mathematician of the week in her class todayClever little chicken, I'm very pleased for her

MHags your 'step away from the computer' reminded me of where we used to store our tourer, there was a huge campervan. Every time someone went with in 10 feet of it, the sensor clicked in and would say 'Step away from the van'. We thought it funny but the people who owned the storage, and lived a few feet away, would get driven mad being woken in the night if a stray fox or other wildlife went near it!
CCP well done on the £2, that was quite a Reverbe!
Broomstick hoping you're feel better now
newlywed congrats on getting the dd's covered. And how sensible of your OH to get his return in early, very OS
1. went to coffee with a friend who'd had a baking session yesterday, so we had a tasting session today
2. Friend gave me some eggs her chooks laid earlier this morning
3. A mutual friend has just let us know she's coming to UK to stay with above friend in October so we had a good time between taste tests organising where we're going to take her
4. It was raining when I left my friend but dry at home so my washing had dried on the line.
5. The weather. Not complaining but it'll be 6 weeks tomorrow since we've had rain
Night night sleep tight. Hugs

5 for today (Friday).
1) Feeling less highly strung and weird. Been really stressed and down for the best part of a week so an improvement today. Just left feeling very tired.
2) Graze box came in the post.
3) Bigger son only dropped 2 marks in his maths SATs paper.
4) Popped down to see mum and dad and went for a walk with my brother and his dog.
5) Went out for lunch with OH........ :grinheart
6) Went swimming with brother and sons. Too tired to enjoy it much and the water was freezing but at least we all went.
7) Boys realised just how tired I am and bigger son lit the fire and did half the washing up and smaller son hoovered the living room and finished the washing up!
8) Played the piano a bit and that went well in the strange way it does sometimes when you're tired and not concentrating.
9) Cafcass Officer phoned so boys will be talking to her later this month. A scary thought but means things will be progressing.
10) Got the stove lit now and am going to lie on the sofa and listen to the News Quiz on iplayer.
Hope everyone has a good evening.0 -
My five for Friday...
Been a bit of a struggle today after a dreadful night's sleep, mild stomach upset (you didn't want to know that) and waking up with what felt like arthritis in my hands and feet  (I don't have arthritis) but
1. Am now feeling a bit better and my extremities are back to normalso goodness knows what all that was about but I'm glad it's gone.
2. Got some more tidying done.
3. Pitta with humous and loads of salad and a pear for lunch on the go.
4. More planning for a pre-Christmas stall, internet searches, costing out ideas, making lists.
5. Have just made myself a hot chocolate and am going to snuggle up in bed with it and my local writers' newsletter.
Sweet dreams
