Back again
Thanks to everyone again today for your support. I really appreciate you acting as my 'cheering section!'
dundeedoll - feeling a lot better - thanks for the link that helped....I've now lined up jobs to do if the urge strikes again - they're not urgent things but there if I need to be distracted
mummysaver - I hope you didn't go into labour by keeping everything crossed for me and that Spud stayed off the sciatic nerve
sparrer - thanks - glad to hear that carpet is finally down and keeping your tootsies warm- yeah I was positive about them talking about other positions elsewhere too
Frith - you were bang on with the time - they had to keep it strictly to schedule due to the amount of people they had to see...unfortunately I had to go straight back to work so couldn't update straight away
CCP - I appreciate you popping in on a no computer evening to see how I got on- I vote by post - might be something worth considering - saves having to actually travel to the polling station and can be done from the comfort of your own home
Otto9 - I think we might of missed each other....I had a break from posting when I moved from Norwich to Aberdeen - I think you should be proud that you got an interview - they seem to be few and far between these daysand that you came so close to getting the job - I know what you meant
Kittikins - yes it does sound promising - I do tend to defer toward the pessimistic when it comes to interviews....I'm now of the opinion of 'if I get through I get through...if not then fine'....they seemed quite keen on keeping people interested for other posts later - and like I said earlier it's made me feel a lot more confident in my abilities
VJsmum - congratulations to your daughter - she must of worked really hard
newlywed - haven't seen you for ages.....hope you're ok
savingqueen - sorry to hear about your problems - whereabouts are you going in Norfolk? - I might be able to recommend some cheap or free places to visit - being an original 'flatlander' and coming from Norwich:o
Ladyhawk - lay down some really ridiculous conditions and put in some huge demands - it's amazing what you can get if they're desperate - but the grass isn't always greener on they other side - look before you leap :rotfl:
1) My interview - yes there were some tough questions but it was good just to be invited considering huge amounts of people applied
2) The support from you guys - you're amazing
3) Went to my first meeting in my new job and all was good....still very relaxing - just waiting for everything to really get going
4) Still really good banter in my new job - everyone is really helpful
5) IT people are still being really good and pointing me in the direction of the permissions I need for software
6) Still relaxed
7) Had a former 3rd party vendor ring me today and complain about my replacement - said he was missing me - just needed some information that I'd given him - I pointed him in the direction of someone to complain to - I only finished on Monday and already someone wants to complain- sorry - I felt smug :rotfl:
8) Big glass of wine
ETA: Chatting to my mum and auntie on the phone
Hope you all had a great day.
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
5 for today...
1) Had my hair cut at local college - £4!
2) Had to have my car cleaned out by the valetting men (little accident with a Chinese takeaway....) Not MS at all but it looks lovely now!
3) Popped to see mum and dad and they made me some lunch.
4) Got mum's laptop back right for her. She had made all the toolbars disappear!
5) Quite a tasty tea, just jacket potatoes.
6) Changed my sheets and have had a bit of a tidy and lit the fire.
Must go, cat miaowing to come in.0 -
My five for Thursday:
1. Had a long day to myself because both DSs were away being busy elsewhere so it was much easier to focus on what needed to be done for work and housework.
2. Silly conversation with the people staffing our polling station about how my first name is pronounced.
3. Got lots of household jobs done including a load of washing washed, dried and ironed (the weather stayed fine for us today), our storage cupboard for extra cleaning materials/stuff for power cuts etc all sorted and re-filed, and the kitchen sides and hob gleamingly clean etc. etc. :j
4. Walked into town and did some little bits of shopping like haberdashery from specialist shops. It was lovely because nothing I was buying had plastic wrapping and all the shops popped purchases into little paper bags. It reminded me of shopping when I was little.
5. Catching up on the day with my sons when I collected each of them this evening.
Sweet dreams,
B x0 -
Gosh, lots of lovely posts to catch up on, thanks! I do love this thread!
Yesterday was a bit of a challenging day, but I got there in the end!
1. My hairdresser cancelled at the last minute so that was my hairdo up in the air! I usually get it done at her house (cheaper) BUT I managed to get an appt for Saturday with the girl I used to go to. She's really good and I was lucky to get in on a Sat at such short notice. OH said he would pay the difference, so I'm looking forward to the whole "salon experience" tomorrow!
2.Bumped into M&D in A$da and they treated me to a cuppa and a bun!
3. Making a shepherds pie out of leftovers, so that's my dinner sorted for tonight!
4. Getting a lovely email from a fellow swapper on my book swap werbsite.
5. My pansies are finally starting to show signs of life - they were in a sorry state when I got them from BNQ. They've taken a lot of coaxing and TLC!
6. Winning £10 on Weds lottery!:j.
7. Visiting M&D and seeing their new kitchen. Its just been fitted this week. They are both so excited and it was lovely to see them so happy. They are both 80 this year and this is their first fitted, modern kitchen!
However-
I was enjoying a lovely walk with my dog and met fellow dog walker. BUT - his daft dog jumped up on me, got his paw tangled in the cord of my ipod headphones and ripped them out of my ears and broke them. He didnt even offer to pay for the damage! I wasnt chuffed I can tell you!
Carolyntia - well done on getting through the interview. It sounded pretty in depth, I think that glass of wine was well deserved! GL for getting through to the next stages.
Have a lovely day everyone!
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -
Carolyntia - never underestimate the value of chatting to your mum on the phone. I would give anything to be able to do that again
On a cheerier note - for yesterday
1. After a chat with colleagues at work, i've realised how laid back about it I am. They get so stressed and i just keep my head down and get on with it.
2. Last teaching till the autumn - love the students but that is one stress gone for a while.
3. Night in front of telly - I never do that.
4. A walk with hubby after dinner - only to the polling station but every little counts!
5. Chat with dad on the phoneHe seems quite chirpy
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Haven't posted for a while. I had a lovely time on holiday - it was very relaxing with DS1 &2 and DH revising and writing uni assisgnments.
Since I've been back I have been catching up.
Here are my five
1. A gret pilates class again.
2. Washing done and dried on the line.
3. Planted some more salad leaves. I am trying to sew them at intervals this year and am succeeding so far.
4. Voted. I had decided that I would choose who I voted for on the literature I was sent. Only one party bothered to send me anything and as its the party already in who have helped on a few queries I didn't have much of a decision to make.
5. Lovely walk with my dog and found some wild asparagus so had it for tea. I so love asparagus especially for free.
6. I posted some ebay parcels so less clutter in the house and a bit of money.0 -
Hello from my cosy kitchen! Heatings on, listening to radio 2 live, lentil soup on made with reduced veggies & reduced sausages a-sizzling! For a soup & sandwich tea!
1. Walked to school...felt very unfit walking back , especially those darned hills! Back home & got my washing out! Managed to get one bed stripped....those days of getting 4 beds stripped, washed, dried ,ironed & back on bed in a couple of hours are well gone!
2.Went to supermarkets & managed to come in under budget! Got some good bargains. Managed to get chicken breasts reduced to a reasonable price. I do not understand why chicken is so expensive but it is. I've managed to split it into 5 meals for 5 peoples worth! Got reduced sausages, reduced pears, a reduce pumpkin & 2 stew pack of veggies that were half price. I'll get a few meals worth from that.
3.Came home & did my exercise.....running up & down my drive way (very steep!) with heavy bags of shopping! Was jiggered!
4.Enjoyed the pleasure of an apple cake with icing on top.....sat & enjoyed it!
5.Enjoyed a walk to post a letter (to my letter writing friend!) , got DD2 on way home from school, we enjoyed looking at the autumn colours and stood under a tree which was full of beautiful birds.
6.Whilst coming home from supermarket shopping, I was stopped at traffic lights. There were hundreds of cockatoos. They are very nosiy. squawky things but I still get a thrill seeing them...they are as common as starlings here but I love them!
7.Have had our soup & roll & sausage! Enjoying a cosy evening with my family! Perfect.
Have a good day! x0 -
never underestimate the value of chatting to your mum on the phone.
1. Chatting to mum and dad on the phone - I suppose I do take this for granted but after reading what VJsmum said, will make sure I do appreciate this and not take it for granted. Thank you.
2. Looking forward to seeing DS and his GF this evening, they will be here until Sunday late afternoon.
3. Meals all ready for the weekend so can spend quality time with them.
4. DS birthday next week and he has finally given me some suggestions for presents. Ordered 1 online yesterday, fingers crossed it arrives by tomorrow, otherwise I will need to pop it back in the post to his home address. I really wanted to have a little something gift wrapped to give him.
5. Managed to track down the other item he wants and shop will hold it until tomorrow. Also get a discount (which he told me about and I was not aware) as I am employed by local council. Need to find out from him, where he found out I can get discounts by showing a payslip.
6. Got some more tomato and lettuce plants in the garden and put some bizzy lizzies in pots so that we have some colour.
7. Appreciated the rain last night as the garden was so dry. Not enough rain but at least the water butt now has some water in it.
Hugs to all who need them.0 -
<sneaks in sheepishly>
I've had a very un-OS day today - not only have I bought two new pairs of earrings (both in a sale and heavily reduced, but still), but I've also arranged to have my oven professionally cleaned rather than doing it myself (as my OS attempts have been noticeably unsuccessful). I'll see if there's anything remotely OS to report, though
:
1) The safety chain on my favourite bracelet had broken, and a local, independent jewellery shop repaired it within 30 seconds and didn't charge me. :T
2) Got a pot of crab RTC in the supermarket, and it's still got a couple of days for me to use it (I think the shop assistant must have misread the BB date when doing the yellow stickies!).
3) I now have shoots in every row of my veggie seed pots, so I should soon be able to work out which plants are which.
4) Gave my car a wash when I got home - I've been parking it under a tree at work so it's got all sticky, then next door's dog has rubbed against so I got up this morning to find I had a fur-covered car. :rotfl:
5) 'Free' red pesto for dinner (I got it on a 3 for 2 offer).
mhagster - mmm, sausage sarnies!:drool::drool:
villagelife - I'm glad you had a nice holiday. Very WD on your wild asparagus - what a find!
Carolyntia - that's great news about your interview - it must be wonderful to have a company so keen to employ you.
sparrer - welcome to the diet club! I hope yours goes better than mine is - I haven't lost so much as an ounce this week.
savingqueen - I know it's a few weeks away yet, but enjoy your holiday!
ott09 - congrats on your new arrival - have fun!
Have a very pleasant Friday evening, all.
<sneaks out sheepishly again>Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi Everyone,
Yippee! It's the weekend!
1) Paid in a couple of cheques that I got from surveys
2) Salad for supper...yum
3) My interview has been confirmed for next Thursday. One of my colleagues made a joke about me smiling - and asked if I had got a new job!
4) had a chat with my nice neighbour
5) Having my colleague back who is undergoing chemo for breast cancer. We are the only female senior managers within the department and understand the frustrations that this can bring.
Sooo sleepy... going to be another early night for me.
Night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
