Morning all, not been on here for a few weeks as I have felt a bit low and struggled to find good things each day and then have been on holiday for just over a week, making the most of the long weekends.
Anyway, must be positive and at least try and find some good things. I do find coming on here makes to think of the little things even though sometimes it is a struggle.
So far for the last couple of days:
1. Enjoyed a lovely holiday with DH in our touring caravan and the traffic was kind to us coming home too.
2. All washing done and most of the ironing too.
3. Looking forward to DS and his GF coming to stay for the weekend.
4. DH not feeling as stressed about work today as he has been recently, so I feel better knowing he feels better IYKWIM.
5. My lettuce and tomato seedlings have survived with very little water whilst I was away, and are ready to go in the garden later.
6. Haven't baked yet since coming home as dad had made us some goodies which we are still using up.
Will try and catch up with some of the posts later as there is a lot to catch up on and I do like to see what you have all been up to.0 -
Afternoon all!
What lovely posts and lots of yummy cooking going on!
My good things so far from yesterday are
1. A lovely delivery man who phoned me at work to ask where he could leave my parcels as he didnt want return them to the depot as that would mean I would have to go and pick them up.
2. OH made great stirfry for tea last night.
3. Going to bed early to watch the truly brilliant John Simms in the last part of Exile on telly.
4. the first mimulus flowers have popped their heads out in the gardens - they look like little bells
5. Getting an early bus to work and having time to read my book in peace.
6 Admiring the beautiful spring flowers in the Gardens from top of said bus. The city parks dept do a wonderful job!
7. Swapping a book for one I really wanted on ReaditSwapIT!
8. Finding a 5p on the floor!
9.Seeing a young guy with his hair dyed like leopard spots - made me smile!
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -
Hugs shopndrop, nice to see you back with us0
-
Mhagster - you have my sympathies re PTA, been there, done that. It is always the same people who put in the effort.
Mine for yesterday.
1. Mother in Law has gone home
2. Other in law's came for nice dinner
3. Taught my last undergraduate lesson till October
4. Went to supermarket and only bought what i needed
5. Mother in law has gone homeI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Afternoon all. Sad news - the blackbird's eggs have gone, and there are little fragments of shell in the nest. As they were there yesterday, and I doubt chicks hatch and fly off the same day, I can only assume the crow I saw yesterday got them
Shame.
Anyway, here's a few pleasures:
1. The sunshine.
2. Watching butterflies.
3. One of the family of swans is striking out on his own. Good luck to him.
That's about it, sadly. Have a nice evening, everyone.

Just going out but read your post Kitchenbunny and want to send my condolences to Mr and Mrs Blackbird. That's terribly sad news
Back later with my five

Hi Everyone,
Carolyntia - glad the new job is making you less stressed and that you have some eye candy to help pass the day. Sadly we have none of that in our office... well there was one director who in my first meeting with I literally did not make any sense when I was talking as I was too busy drooling! But I soon worked out how arrogant he was which put me right off!
Sparrer - which bedroom suite did you decide on? Could you not paint it white like you did the curtain pole? or is that hard work? Anyway you could have at least told the carpet people to deliver it to my place since they were in the area
1) Almost a NSD but I popped to the market and picked up some more material for another skirt.
2) Walked into town with a lovely colleague and had a good chat. She is like my mum away from home.
3) Chatted to my dear friend L on the phone as I drove home through a rare traffic jam. She is just back from 10 days in Thailand so it was god to catch up.
4) Laughing at Mythbusters on TV. It is one of my favourite shows. Basically it is two guys who set out to prove or disprove urban legends and sayings. The one tonight is trying to determine the reality of "sh/t hitting the fan".
5) Finished the last of my roast beef for supper tonight with wilted spinach, english asparagus and jersey royal potatoes... yum!
Nighty night all... an don't forget to vote tomorrow!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening all.
1) NSD - that's two in a row which is unusually organised for me!
2) The daisies and cornflowers in the city centre meadow are starting to come out in flower.
3) More of my HM olive rolls for lunch - unlike most bread they actually seem to be getting better over time.
4) Getting home to my nice warm flat - it's not so warm out there today!
5) Finding that there was a bit more left than I thought in the bottle of wine from the weekend, so I had enough to make dinner and to have a glass to drink too.
Have a pleasant evening, all. (Sorry this is a bit of a brief post - that glass of wine has left me.)
Back after a very long break!0 -
1. A neighbour bought us some fresh food bits and pieces when she went out shopping so only spent £2 today
2. Although the day started and is ending in moderate pain, the middle bit was good and I walked around for a while without crutches, yippee!! I'm definitely on the mend
3. Nice chat with OH this morning and he's sent me loads of silly cartoons to keep me chirpy throughout the day! Hopefully coming over to see me tomorrow
4. New car tax disc arrived in the post this morning, I'm sure I only applied for it on Saturday afternoon! Very good service.
5. No Petrol Day again, my bank balance is grateful for me not being able to drive
6. Working from home was very busy but fine.
7. DD and I were ladies wot dined at our friends this evening, very yummy
8. Lovely phone call with a friend who is going to take DD to school for me in the morning. Am heartened by the way my chums are offering and following through with help for me, it's very much appreciated
9. DD and I have cut each other a deal - if she goes to bed in her own bed tonight, as she keeps on coming downstairs saying she can't sleep (subtext: I want to sleep with you Mummy), then as soon as my leg is all better, we will have an early night with a DVD and maybe some midnight feast treats (that's ricecakes and bananas, lol). Hopefully it will do the trick!
10. I had a sneaky couple of sips of wine this evening and they tasted soooo good! Very naughty as am not supposed to mix painkillers and alcohol but I'm holding out on the painkillers til as late as possible so that I'll have processed the wine......tsk, tsk!!
11. My tomato seedlings given to me by a freecycler have perked up after nearly dying due to lack of water the other day! Yippee! Must move them into their own pots tomorrow.0 -
Evening all
Tomorrow is interview day between 1pm and 2pm! Can you all keep your fingers crossed for me please.....I'd like to try and get into the second interview :j
Mummysaver - I know that you and Spud are particularly good with the luck for me so if Spud manages a special wriggly for me that would be very much appreciated
Ladyhawk - In my industry we are extremely short on office eye candy - unfortunately we have some arrogant ones too. I love Mythbusters...mainly for the sciency bits though - god I'm such a nerd some days. As I gazed down the office today all I saw was obesity, baldness, grey hair or all three
Kitchenbunny - sorry to hear about the blackbirds....we had the same with some oystercatcher eggs here last year that a fox got ...short of sitting on the eggs myself there wasn't anything I could do
Jinty - don't you just love delivery people like that....Tesco's direct are very good at that too....they rang me ten mins before they arrived so I could nip home from work instead of hanging around all day
mhagster - hope your internet connection gets sorted soon
Kittikins - I'm glad to hear you're on the mend...I'm also glad to hear that your friends are rallying round to help with your DD
1) My new computer and phone have arrived - IT delivered especially because I didn't hassle them :rotfl:and then came back to sort out an internet problem because I just let them know and told them to drop by when they had time - why would I hassle....I was in no rush
2)Asda on a Wednesday night - I've never seen so many good looking blokes - I must of looked completely stupid with my mouth open  - I will be changing my shopping day to wednesdays - in the interests of science of course to make sure it wasn't a one off - where did they all come from?
3) Another nice chilled out day
4) 12 tiger rolls for 15p! :money:- that's six lunches with peanut butter or eggs I already have - and certainly a damn sight cheaper than the expensive/tasteless ones being sold at work
5) Everything ready for the interview tomorrow
6) Chat on MSN with someone I don't see very often...he also said I 'sounded' I lot more relaxed.
7) Having a laugh and joke with my new colleagues
8) Another beautiful day
9) Been timing my trips to and fro work and so far it hasn't gone over 30 mins.....just trialing the best times to leave home/work on each day....traffic is weird in Aberdeen!....So far I should leave home before 7.15am and leave my desk at 4pm....new boss reckons roads are clear by 6pm if I miss my slot....can't see the point in sitting in traffic if I can get paid over time
Hope you all have a great day.
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0
