Hiya,
My five for Friday:
1. The sound of rain just now. It's funny what you miss when it isn't there and I'm sure we haven't had proper rain for weeks.
2. De-scaled and scrubbed three ancient, beyond-all-hope pans today and got them sparkly and gleaming and usable for cooking again. Very satisfying.
3. Restarted my veggie box order. They have a 'buy three, get your fourth box free' offer on again.
4. Spent half an hour listening to a radio play while knitting some more cardigan (and unpicking and fixing an error that I must have overlooked from a few days ago.)
5. Chopping up two cotton shirts of my son's that he'd grown out of. I've rescued the buttons and know what I want to make with the fabric.
Sweet dreams,

CCP I'm off to a good start (cheating and copying some of the SW menus from their board
), hope it lasts. Perhaps you've plateaued and need a change of eating plan? I don't like the word diet, it conjures up images of boring, tasteless food
villagelife as a newby grower I planted 7 little plastic cups of cut and come again lettuce - now it's all growing profusely it looks like I could stock Mr A for the next 3 weeks
VJsmum you're right, sometimes I get fed up with phoning my DM every evening only to hear her repeat what she said the night before, but then remind myself she's almost 90 and the thought of not having her is horrible. They really are a blessing
1. nsd
2. postie brought me the router DS promised (not modem as I said yesterday. Well I was tired!)
3. A good eating day, felt quite pleased that I didn't give in to temptation, in fact put the slice of bread which I'd taken out to have with my tea back in the pack
4. Cleaned the paint off the socket covers and window (!) which the painter had left there. Looks much neater now. I even bleached the net curtain stretcher ready for the new, white net - when I get round to making it
5. Cancelled the bedroom suite I bought as I forgot to go through Nectar . They're refunding my money so when I get it I'll re-order, and get the £300-worth of points as well. Why do they take the money from my account almost immediately yet take up to 5 working days to refund it?
Night night, sweet dreams

There are not 5 pleasures for today.0

Hugs Frith, I'm so sorry you have had such an awful day; I can't believe your exOH is so spiteful towards his sons and thank goodness that they know they have a wonderful mummy who is doing everything she can to bring them up happy and healthy. MrN - words fail me, I'm so sorry he's said those things to you, you know where I am on here, FB and in RL if you need a shoulder or cocktail (non-alcoholic at the mo!). You are an amazing woman and you deserve to meet someone who is truly worthy of you in time xxx0

Yesterday's pleasures:
1. No petrol day
2. Managed to stagger up to the village drinking establishments to celebrate my birthday; it was hard and took me about half an hour to get there, but phew I managed it and had a lovely time.
3. A low spend evening, all things considered. Spent as much on the lovely babysitter as I did on drinks.
4. Felt ok after a couple of sips of wine but stopped after that, and enjoyed my diet cokes the rest of the night
5. OH made it out and looked after me on the way home, well we were both as slow as each other
6. Some lovely friends (the one with the baby who was very poorly at birth) came out and I felt honoured that they'd spent their first night out with me
7. OH has said he'll take me to the ballet again
8. The rain pattering on the window not long after we got in last night - thank you rain for holding off til we got home, and thank you for coming to give the gardens a good soaking!
9. Quiet day of work
10. Found £1 in the lining of my handbag
11. A friend from these forums gave me the number of a local builder and he came over to have a look at some work for me
12. Remembered last night that a friend of a friend who was out with us is also a builder so have just FB'd him to see if he'd like to quote
Right, back to bed for me, feeling sore, tired but happy, and DD knows that she can watch a DVD when she wakes up this morning so I can have a lie in0 -
Frith - am so sorry to her about your day. hugs to you. You are a great Mum to your boys and keep on doing a fantastic job.
My five for yesterday are
1. A NSD
2. Tidied DS2 bedroom and found stuff to list on ebay today
3. Rain it will do the garden good and will save me having to water.
4. Using LO chicken in a pie and made jam tarts with remaining pastry.
5. Managed to pair up the vast majority of odd socks!! Its something I hate doind and now its done.0 -
Frith: I'd send you a warm hug but there probably warmer in UK! Be true to yourself and your boys x
1. My boys went mountain biking today with their flasks of lentil soup..apparently they were needed as it was very cool up in the mountains!
2. Me & girls went shopping got a few bargains! Got lovely pink, thick cotton placemats with pretty cupcakes on them reduced to 87cents each (56p)...went through till at $15.00......er I don't think so! so got that sorted out ! Also 2 lovely blue & white polka dot tea towels for 68cents (44p).
3. We went for lunch well cakes really! I had scrummy lemon meringue pie & girls had Mars bar cake which was.....a huge slice of cake with bottom layer thick caramel, topped by chocolate mousse, topped by chocolate sponge & all coated with a chocolate fudge frosting! So it looked just like a Mars Bar !They struggled! 1 would have been enough between them.....and accompanied by Hot chocs!
4.Home and got ironing all done! Quite a bit cooler today but dry enough. Still nice & crisp autumnal feel and dry!
5. Girls made spag bol whilst I ironed & boys were on their way home. Most tasty!
internet seems to be behaving itself. I take it for granted so do miss it when we don't have it!
Hope you all have a good weekend!0 -
Mine for yesterday
1. Lunch with friends
2. Bit of a pamper at beauty parlour and hairdressers (not very MSE or OS except for the words "beauty Parlour" :rotfl:)
3. Nice healthy stir fry for tea
4. Did an hours walk and earned myself some weightwatchers points
5. Noticed that my french marigold seeds are starting to sprout.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Frith
Sorry to read of all those :-(((
From what you write about your boys, it is very obvious that you are a very loving, caring mum who only wants the best for her boys.
You can see what upset staying with their dad and his 'fiancee' is causing them and that is why you are concerned about them staying with him - NOT to spite him!
Mr. N Silly man!

Evening all.
Frith - huge hugs to you.
sparrer - sorry, I won't mention the 'd' word again!I'm currently following what I think of as the OS Forum Plan - Weight Loss the Old Style Way! - which (usually
) works well for me.
1) Being woken up at 6.30 by crashing thunder and torrential rain and being very glad it's Saturday and I didn't have to get up and go out in it!
2) Then tucking my head under my wing and going back to sleep.
3) Lots of cuddles with the mog, who doesn't like thundery weather as much as I do. (Although I admit it was also a pleasure when he relaxed enough to go to sleep and stop following me around like a small furry shadow!)
4) Gave the living room a good tidy up and spring clean.
5) Saw the first swifts of the year. :j (Poor things must wish they were back in Africa rather than flying around in an English thunderstorm!)
Have a lovely Saturday evening, all.
Back after a very long break!0
