1. Went into the office and work was great, have been told I need to be in the office tomorrow for my birthday, not sure why
2. DD is in a state of frenzy about tomorrow and has decorated the house for me with lots of tinsel
3. I've made loads of cakes for a big tea party after school
4. Managed to get over my pre-birthday grump before lunchtime! Traditionally it lasts all day, so I'm sooooo pleased that I stopped feeling sorry for myself for no reason nice and early this year
5. Lovely romantic chats, texts and emails with OH who is feeling scarily ill today, but he is sure he'll be fine by tomorrow afternoon.....silly man, I've told him I will understand if he can't make it. Bless him for being so adorable when he's feeling deathly xxx
6. DD and I had scrummy dinner tonight and a really good chat.
7. Bought 7 lovely birthday cards for DD and I to use for £1 total. I'd never been into that card shop before and am so pleased I did, as they're perfectly good cards. I hate wasting money on cards that only go into recycling the next day!
8. Once I've tidied up the downstairs a little bit, I WILL be going up to bed for a lovely refreshing sleep before DD wakes me up early to start celebrating
Night all x0 -
Evening all
CCP - Thanks - still not too sure why they think I can't cook - I left home at 15 and haven't starved in the past 25 years
1) Went to Crathes castle today - mum and stepdad used national trust tickets so only had to pay for myself
2) Mum paid for lunch - which was a very nice stuffed egg mayo sarnie
3) Got a lovely fern for a pot in my back garden
4) Got a lovely yellow sticky steaks so we paid £1.30 each for our dinner tonight - my mum approved :rotfl:
5) Wine for dinner was also on offer
6) Another sunny day in Aberdeen
7) Another no smoking day
Considering my mum used to have the equivalent of the Brazilian national debt and got it under control I'm surprised how much she has approved of my money saving ways....:A...she arrived with her own spirits...and mixer....own lemons...and home grown rhubarb....as a matter of fact we haven't spent much since she arrived.....if we did it was all on wine
P.S Neighbours cat popped in for ear scratches and to see who the strange people in my house were
CxAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Amanda well done on a no-spend shopping trip, that takes strength!
MHags I empathise re the gardening which is why most of mine is done in tubs. It does cut down on face-to-face encounters with the creepy crawlies
ampersand sounds like you're having a good, if busy time on your holiday
1. Second bedroom is almost finished, it'll be ready for carpet by Saturday. It's the longest I've ever known a room to take to be redec'd, 7 days so far, but the chap doing it is charging me a pittance so I mustn't complain
2. Finished making the curtains for the above from some fabric I picked up in a Greek market some 5 years ago. I knew it would come in handy one day
3. The new plum tree has got plums on it!!!! They're smaller than petit pois atm but they're definitely there :j. Also some of the strawberry plants are in flower, it's all getting quite exciting out there
4. Visit from DD, DSiL and DGD2 this morning, he adjusted my new television so now I have a much sharper picture, and much better volume
5. Postie brought me some fabric I won on ebay for the princely sum of £2, which will be curtains for the bathroom window
Night night, sweet dreams

Kittikins Happy Birthday! Have a super day :T0 -

Happy birthday, Kittikins! :-)
5 from me for today (Tues)
1) Extra day off school (teacher training).
2) Looked after MrN's sons 2 and 4 for a while (and mine!)
3) Got bigger son some new school shoes (size 4 now)
4) Hired a little boat and spent half an hour on the river - do this at some point most holidays.
5) Popped to Sainsburys for new trainers for smaller son (don't get them from a shoe shop) and bumped into my sister in the car park.
6) Sons very good all evening. I have the start of a nasty cold so cooperation from them was useful.
7) MrN came round and has just gone. :-)0 -
Morning all!
Kittikins - happy birthday, hope you enjoy being spoilt!
Caro - sounds like you're all having a fab time, glad that the cooking myth has been laid to rest lol!
My pleasures for yesterday:
1. ds discussing how much he hates his a levels, so we are going to sort out some changes for Sept, pleasure wasn't that he hates them, but that I think he's realised that it isn't an insoluble problem!
2. More seeds come through and been potted on, got twiggy pea sticks in the raised beds - shame that that a tree has died, but it's been useful and I never much liked it anyway!
3. hm rolls - make these a lot, but never tire of the smell of fresh bread!
4. Got rubbish to the tip with the aid of ds for the heavy lifting, good to clear some more junk!
5. Saw Fast and Furious with best friend, fun as always and a great film, plus Vin Diesel was in it
Hope everyone has a great day xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Kittikins: Have a wonderful 40th birthday! I spent 39 dwelling on being 40, when the day came I embraced the fact I was 40.....and 2 years on, time just keeps ticking along! So enjoy your day & all it's surprises!
Well back to school/work today...shock when the alarm went off and HAD to get up!
1.Was a nice mummy & ran big 2 halfway to school, then dropped off DD2 as I thought the ragbag had to be in today...but it was next week, however,it's out from under my feet!
2.Went to hairdressers....funny thing happened! Apparently, they had had a burst pipe last Thursday & as it was holiday w'end, they switched water off at mains. My hairdresser didn't know where mains were so would just wet my hair & then phone manager to find out how to put it on! Er......where was the logic in that? Sure enough, scooshed my hair wet ,cut it, then phoned manager, turned mains on & washed my hair! Why she couldn't phone first of all I don't know! Anyway, nice hair do...human again!
3.Went for a scone all by myself in nearby town, as I had something to return to a shop. Had a nice date & walnut scone & a read at the paper and a finish of a crossword someone else had started (and had some wrong spellings!)
4.Went to supermarket.....got numerous bargains. Reduced chicken, which for some reason is very expensive over here. Got a bag of fruit....fill bag for $2 , as long as you could tie it at the top. Mainly got apples, however, I got 3 very, very ripe bananas too. Banana loaf in oven as I type! Bananas are still $14 /kg which is about 9.20 pounds. In comparison to Tesco at 68p/kg.
I read an article in a paper last week that bananas are now seen as a status symbol! if you can afford a banana you're doing well!
5. Home and got tidied up! Nice to have house to myself for a wee while! All washing & Mount ironing tackled & up to date! Bathrooms all cleaned and floors all washed! DD1 has made spiced pumpkin (reduced) soup for tea & has prepped all the veg for a chicken (reduced) stir fry! She's a star!
Enjoy your day!0 -
The trouble is, they know he can't be trusted. Last Tuesday the ex picked her up after picking up smaller son and promising us all she would not be there. He did the same a couple of years ago with heroin addict girlfriend - said in court she would never be present then immediately had her there with sons for the whole weekend!.
I know what you mean, from personal experience.I don't know if they would write a letter. They know about their forthcoming chat with Cafcass and are happy to tell them all about new girlfriend...!.
It is up to them. They could write tot eh CAFCASS person if they want. The big showdown will come next Tuesday when it is his turn to pick them up from school. Presumably I will have to stand on the playground too and they will have to choose who they go home with. :-S Hmmmm.
Actually, I suggest you keep away unless the boys specifically ask you to collect them. In that way you are not seen to be manipulating them or encouraging estrangment. Let school know there may be a problem but keep out the way. If they refuse to go with him and school have to contact you, that sends a much stronger message to him and to the courts, and you also have an independent "witness" to the situation. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Been away for 3 weeks and just caught up with everything (work and holiday)
My holiday OS pleasures are
1. the 4 of us spending 2 weeks together with no internet or computers at all, little TV and no X Box - bliss!
2. The Weather
3. Sitting on a boat and not being able to do anything faster than 4mph
4. Going to an art gallery on my own - and getting in for half price
5. Eating french bread with cheese and pate - like the french do. without the need for fancy restaurants.
And for today
1. "Working from home today" and getting house tidy! The work will have to be done before next week but i can do it at the weekend (when the MIL is here! :rotfl:)
2. Catching up with a friend over coffee
3. Making perfect flapjacks for the first time ever (thanks to a recipe on here)
4. Going out for a curry with OH tonight (20th wedding anniversary)
5. OH getting the all clear from tests for suspected testicular cancer (this should have been no. 1)I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Evening all.
Kittikins - happy birthday!I hope your OH is feeling better enough to celebrate with you and your DD.
VJsmum - that's great news about your OH. :j Your holiday sounds quite idyllic, not that I'm jealous at all...
I'm feeling a bit  tonight - I had a nurse appointment earlier and their scales show my weight is 2kg less than my own scales saybut my blood pressure is verging on high enough to require investigation.
Nothing needs doing about it straight away, so it can't be that worrying, right?
1) NSD.
2) Egg salad sarnie for lunch, as the office is so empty I thought there was less chance than normal of someone complaining about the smell.
3) Got home early after my nurse appointment and gave the kitchen draining board a really good scrub. It looks positively sparkly now (or as sparkly as cheap plastic ever looks).
4) There's still half a glass of wine left in the bottle from the weekend.
5) My flower seeds are starting to show through the compost already, and I only planted them at the weekend. :j
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0
