    Hi Folks
Haven't been on here for ages, still old-style though, even more important as I'm now seperated and responsible for my own mortgage, bills and just about everything else!

    My 5 from yesterday are:
    1. continuing to chop my lelandyi down!

    2. chatting to my neighbour

    3. my 9 year-old having his friend for a sleep over and my Son cooked tea (only hotdogs but it's a start, have been teaching him to cook)

    4. washing all the bed linen and drying it outside

    5. Making a tray of choc chip cookies for the boys!

    hello!
been playing in real snow today! real snowballs & needed real gloves!

1.Got a picnic all packed & took 2 flasks of homemade curried butternut squash soup (which was yummy!) ....tried to make popcorn but bag almost caught fire & has stunk microwave out :( )

2.Had a lovely autumnal drive through Victorian countryside, we drove through some of the areas which were affected in bushfires 2 years ago. Scenery is stunning and the colours are just lovely.

3.We went to Mount Buller which is Victoria's highest mountain. It is a major ski resort and in winter we would not be able to drive our car on roads without snow chains on. They had a smattering of snow when we had heavy rain at start of week. There were patches of snow around....enough to throw a few snowballs at each other. Even just feeling the coldness of it was lovely! Then had a walk to the top....(nearly top for me...gave up, sat down & enjoyed the stunning views & peace & quiet!) It felt quite Scottish at times which is nice!

4.Enjoyed the return journey, saw a beautiful sunset and watched a big, almost full moon rising.

5.quick & easy spag bol for tea

A good day from start to finish! Another pleasure was getting the bags of hats, scarves & gloves and deciding which to wear!

Hope you all have a good Sunday and you don't need gloves...unless they are of the gardening variety!

Another long-ish absence and I am unable to avoid the Then and Now abyss which continually finds me teetering on that edge these days, especially when I am to do things, frequent places last known v. differently....
I function on that well-known Wimmin thing of wearing, and wearing most convincingly, whatever mask suits the situation or the moment, when with others and working long and hard in that situ. Otherwise, am existing on auto-pilot.
So, as before - another day. I'm going back a week, because there have been pleasures, even though they are somewhat wasted on this tawdry, ramshackle, faded cloth which I feel self to be still - and wonder For How Long?

    1. OS meet, so well and thoughtfully arranged by Caterina, whose current reasoning and step back from putah I understand, while knowing that her less frequent posts here will rob us of much colour, richness and vivacity. Having met her en famille and being treated by them so kindly has brought its own deep thinking to me in ways I shall not elaborate on here. A wonderful quartet. Thankyou Caterina - for everything - and enjoy the allotment. It is very 'setting-free' in its effects as one digs, plants, turns soil. I could not believe you had achieved so much in just one season. Another not-to-be-forgotten sight - your very own Urbane Urban Fox! And saw another later at Tesco Surrey Quays, when refuelling.
    2. Lovely weather - so down by the Thames and out of the wind I had spells of drifting, reading, lazy, cloud-gazing, people-watching etc.etc. All good.
    3. Fine morning at Rotherhithe carboot and buys to match.
    4. Kindness from strangers, repeatedly.
    5. 2 x reverbe 5p's!
    Onto this week: -
    1. A Monday meeting in London that could have been better, could have been worse.
    2. Back here 4am, was finding self doing that dread thing of suddenly knowing eyes had closed while on motorway...so, safe return, rather against odds considering the half-dozen times it happened.
    3. Charity Showroom routine Tuesday...busy, busy, busy - and 3 kind donations from OS meet-up all sold well!
    4. Burying self in displacement reading at night, trying not to think about next week to France, a v. different journey this time. Eurotunnel[MrT vouchers]means no real money, just as well...
5....except , of course I look forward to seeing M., longest-known friend on this side of world, and taking delayed birthday cake to her, along with her shopping list requirements and restored clock. Branston pickle is on the list - in case anyone else needs to know, Waitrose's 2 for £2 on 720gm jars, is a streets ahead comparison winner.
    6. Can only stay a fortnight-ish, as further MRI scan has been put off to 13 May and it is needed badly - 3 months since kneecap/leg took a hammering and the pain is just not diminishing, although it alters. Will need to do a brocante or 2 whilst there.
7.Will be back 1 day before using[MrT vouchers]redspottedhanky.com for Glasgow train to see/hear the brilliant Tim Minchin. Can't believe I've actually 'allowed' myself this.
    8. One of our volunteers has a daughter who turned 11 yesterday. When asked what she'd like to do for her special day, she said to be with us at Charity Showroom! Did some little things, gifty-girly bits, cake, nibbles, and took pix throughout day, which I'll print and put on a calendar for her. I'll mail it, as children seem to know the pleasure of something from postie less and less now.
She's a terrific lass and enjoyed herself, made her mark and engaged with customers really well.
    9. Have typed this. Do so in head most days, but feel it carries my present state with it and that this should not be foisted on others. My apologies if I do so by posting this.
    10. Have actually managed to finish yesterday's Guardian over last night and this morning. It's been weeks since I did this and it's my one paper weekly. Managed to leave last week's issue down in London without even opening it.
    11. More h/g rhubarb used with dying pears to make a strudel with left-over pastry. Added ginger and demerara. It's good...unfortunately. Enforced gym embargo is not good. Hated doing it, but know it was A Good Thing. Really want/need to resume, post-scan.
    12. Lily of the Valley has survived - srpouting thickly and first flowers now out.
    13. Listening to Marathon progress - still can't sort out tv post-switchover, but not too bothered. I like the renamed radio 4Extra - hope they don't use up all the good progs first...had this impression over recent months of DAB7 and I still rue the loss of the Birdsong loop. R4X continuity&voices are better, as is the scheduling....for me, anyway.
    14. While buying Branston in Waitrose, saw all their chiller organic chickens reduced to 59p per kg[fault in cabinet motor], so bought one for birthday food[see 8]. Rang friend from next village to ask if she'd like one or two, only to hear her ask where I was....'Well, we're just parking outside now', said she....we met, a few seconds later:-)
15.Treated self to Women War Artists book, during 1st visit to IWM on Monday afternoon. Well-reviewed in previous week and wonderful to see. Did leave comment about low lighting and pale small graphics on low placed explanation boards in latter rooms. Saw an interesting tree with catkins - labelled Goat Willow, most suitable for Capricorn moi. I will go again - don't know what I'd expected.
    #########
Much to do, better put on The Mask and switch on auto-pilot. It is another fair day, if with a chill windy edge.

Blessings and gentle happiness to all and the warmest welcome to our new posters -oldtractor, amanda666, lavinia21, jintyb - and all others I may have missed.
Carolyntia - you are doing so well.
Sparrer, I have new Salter scales spare, with integral bowl. Would you like them, if you can wait until mid-May, when I at last get your soap to you:-)?

    Afternoon all!

    My pleasures for yesterday/today:

    1. Lunch with best friend yesterday, and his male best friend, wife and their little girl. Was so lovely to be able to sit out in the sunshine whilst we ate.

    2. Best friend bought me a lolly on the way home, I love summer!

    3. Kids had a great time with their dad, as always, and were in a good mood all evening - usually they're tired and grumpy!

    4. Looked at lots of food processors in John Lewis, I love the staff in there, they are so helpful. Sadly the model I really liked wasn't in stock, but I came home and found it on the Tesco website, and it was half price, and I used my vouchers! Will be collecting it from the store on Tuesday, so as to save P&P costs, can't wait!

    5. Bought a new ice cream maker in John Lewis, have had bowl chilling in freezer overnight, and am going to make strawberry ice cream in a bit, most exciting!

    5. Worked this morning, pleasure will come when I receive the overtime pay! Saw a lady I work with who has just had a baby, he is absolutely gorgeous, and she is looking so happy, was lovely to see them.

    6. Bought 6 boxes of happy eggs, reduced to 36p each, we are using so many at the mo that I doubt they will last more than a few days - kids eat them boiled, poached, fried, scrambled, omletted for brekkie, and they are always baking!

    7. Had a lovely egg mayo baguette when I got home from work, using up some left over salad too! If I have craved anything it's been fresh fruit and veg and salad during this pregnancy!

    8. ds has mown the lawns, and they look much tidier, amazing how much they grow in a week! I ought to be out tidying and weeding, but it's Sunday and I'm putting my feet up!

    9. Have chicken in the fridge ready to joint and bbq, best get on with it so I can marinade it in a mo. Pleasure is in not only having the chicken, but that it was on offer, and mostly that I can joint it myself! Will put aside the breasts for a meal in the week, dd3's fave is wrapping them in bacon and mozzarella - and this is a meal she cooks herself for everyone!

    10. Looking forward to a lovely evening relaxing with the kids, so nice not to have that Sunday feeling cos they have to get up for school in the morning, hooray for hols!

    11. dd1 has just brought me a cup of tea :)

Have a good day everyone xxx

    Afternoon everyone!
I've been MIA again :o Life's so busy at the moment - not that I'm complaining, as I'm enjoying all the various things I'm up to :)

    Recent pleasures:-
    1) GP agreed to let me have a steroid injection in my shoulder to get some pain relief. Oh boy, it's wonderful to be free of pain again - it's not a cure (have got some joint problem) but it'll do me fine
    2) Started work building my business website
    3) Successfully managed to install new external HD and printer/scanner/copier on computer. I'm good on using pc software, but installing the things always makes me nervous incase I mess up the computer :rotfl:
    4) Nice day with the family yesterday - my great-niece is gorgeous and very cute
    5) Nice week in prospect, meeting up with various friends and doing a craft course

Must have a good read and catch up on here - hope all are well

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all. :)

    1) Another nice lie-in this morning, following which I feel less tired than I have done for several weeks.

    2) Watching the re-run of the grand prix as I was feeling too tired / lazy to watch it live at 8 o'clock this morning. :o

    3) Found a weeny primrose which had planted itself between two paving stones - I've now transplanted it to the raised bed where it can grow without being in constant danger of being trodden on.

    4) Some more of my seeds have germinated. Thanks to my mishap with the labels I'm not 100% certain what they are - I think they're the lettuces I'm doing a product trial on, but I won't be sure until they get a bit bigger.

    5) Made a loaf of bread using the last of my favourite Isle of Wightish flour. That will be the last for a little while as I refuse to buy it on the mainland when it costs less than half as much if you buy it on the Island.

Have a very pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    5) Did a load of washing and put it out to dry on the line.

    6) Cheeky 6th... Psych is back on TV! YAY!

    Night night
