Evening all.Grrr... I am being a grump today. I'm really fed up with work and really need this break that is coming up.
Ditto!I woke up horribly early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so I've been tired and irritable all day. Roll on Friday!
Frith - I'm glad things went as well as they're ever likely to with your ex.
Carolyntia - very well done for not giving in to the lure of a cigarette despite what sounds like serious provocation. :T
1) Another sunny day.
2) The man who came round to do my flat's gas safety check was very nice, and confirmed everything's safe for another year.
3) I reached a convenient pausing place at work three quarters of an hour or so before I was actually due to finish, so I spent a bit of time sneakily scanning websites to put together a mealplan for next week. (Don't tell anyone, please!)
4) Being very naughty and grabbing a beer from the fridge while I was preparing dinner (a mini bottle of low alcohol beer, admittedly, but still...)
5) Abandoning my meal plan to have a curry tonight, just because that's what I fancy. (It's not a total breach of OS principles, I'm pleased to say: the curry base is from Approved Food, and I've added the end of an aubergine which was starting to go brown.)
Have a very pleasant evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. Peace and quiet this morning due to the road being cordoned off
2. Getting all the window boxes planted up with hardy geranium that has been invading the lawn
3. Mr & Mrs Robin coming and sitting next to me in the garden and warbling/eating their dinner/having a bath whilst I was sewing in the sunshine
4. A lovely dinner and Make Do And Mend later on "on demand"
5. Sorting out some home admin that I'd been putting off
(yes I know that's technically 6)....
All in all puts me in a very good mood for work tomorrow,,,,,But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
Frith so sorry your trials with ex aren't over yet, thank goodness you have support from your lovely neighbour who brings you cups of tea
Carolyntia I'm a firm believer in 'for every door that closes another one opens', and usually leads to something much better. I'm sure the new door will open soon. Congrats on your strength of will
mummysaver I know I shouldn't covet a name but I know just what you mean about le Creuset. A lotto win would be helpful
sharloid it's a long time since I heard of dandelion syrup. There seems to be far more this year so well done on making good use of them
Not been a good couple of days, I saw a photo of myself yesterday and I'm thoroughly ashamed. I'm not only as wide as I am tall but the top I was wearing is far too tight and my grey roots are more than obvious. Definitely been in denial about how much food I eat and how little exercise I do. The photo is on my fridge door so there's no denying it now! On the bright side, though...
1. Bought two Tumbling Tom hanging basket tomatoes yesterday, will keep them indoors til the frosts are over.
2. nsd today
3. a friend in my fellowship is going to start decorating the spare room tomorrow, he's a carpet fitter by trade and is going to let me have carpeting at a much reduced cost. Fighting the urge to choose ivory, it would look lovely but not really practical
4. I'll get rid of a lot of the 'bad' food from the freezer when said friend comes tomorrow, he'll enjoy sausage rolls or hc buns with his coffee. Will send him home with some pasties etc too, he's single so no doubt will appreciate it
5. Have a box of hair dye in the drawer so don't have to buy any. This time tomorrow the roots will match the rest of my hair
Enjoy the evening, take care

Ladyhawk - HUGS, hope you enjoy your drinks/icecream and that tomorrow is a far better day for you xx
1. The sunshine
2. Good day at work, found out a friend has got a well-deserved promotion.
3. OH is here
4. Great conversation with DD this morning, she's so funny
5. Only 8 days til I turn 40 (as DD likes to remind me........)
6. Bought OH a new rucksack for when he has a sleepover to carry his medicines/clothes using an offer on here, will be a nice surprise or if it's really nice, will be nice for me, lol. His current rucksack is missing an important zip so I'm always worried something's going to fall out!!
7. Some good YS bargains in Tesco's and Wilkinson's,I can't remember the last time I paid full price for a loaf of bread when I can't be bothered to make it myself
8. Have realised I can buy myself a new bike using the cycle to work scheme, not entirely sure how it works, but would like to look into it more and if i can spread the cost....
9. Landlady of the cottage we're going to in France has confirmed that she's lost my deposit cheque so just wants me to pay the deposit with the rest of the money due in June, woo hoo! I was panicking a bit about how to get to the end of the month, but now I have a little bit more money to play withWHat a lovely lady, it must be because she originally came from the area I live in now, we're all nice here (in my humble opinion, lol).
10. OH is here
11. Nice quick chat with OH's mummy, she's so lovely
12. Easy dinner for us - leftovers and rice for us both, yum yum
13. Going to be reunited with DD tomorrow, yippee0 -
I'm fairly new to the board but having been reading through and loving this thread and thought I'd add mine - hope nobody minds.
1. Swapped half a dozen eggs from my chicken for a ton of rhubarb from a colleague at work - probably about £10 of rhubarb at Tesco prices.
2. Collected a couple more eggs from my girls - they're both laying now and I'm so relieved as I thought one might be a cockerel.
3. Started the book I got for 50p from the charity shop and it's fab so far.
4. Finished the rest of the spanakopita I made the other day for cheap using Tesco brand feta and frozen spinach plus one of the eggs from the chooks, pastry from scratch using low-carb baking mix.
5. Baked another loaf of low-carb bread and turned off the oven 10 minutes earlier than usual, left it in the hot oven to finish cooking.0 -
Evening all
Had a better day today. Thanks to Kittikins, mummysaver, CCP, and Sparrer - for your lovely comments/support :T
Sparrer - Are you getting better now?
Ladyhawk - If I was nearer I'd come and eat icecream with you
1) Highly amusing day - I'm on hols next week and my boss will be taking care of my job while I'm away. As a way of easing in he asked to be copied on all my e-mails - he went off to a meeting and came back to a full inbox and an e-mail ping pong argument between 4 of our clients...I think he went into shock then.....he has no idea of the extent of what I deal with :rotfl:I'll be handing him my company mobile phone too - might instruct my staff to ring with some daft requests
2) Contacted two more agencies today and have forwarded my CV and the jobs I want to apply for
3) NSD
4) No smoking day - I've been very busy today so it hasn't been so hard - will be a month on Saturday
5) My mum will be here on SaturdayI haven't seen her since July so I can't wait to see her and my step dad
6) Pick up the new car tomorrow :j
7) I didn't smoke yesterday even though I really really wanted to :A
Hope you all had a good day
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
This'll have to be quick,as I really want to have an early night!
For today and yesterday:
1. I have visitors next week, who are staying for a week.During that week I work three days.My wonderful boss has given me those three days off!
2. Had foot pain yesterday, but it had gone today,so went for a run and was fine.
3. Had the washing out on the line today.
4. Managed some decluttering in the cellar.
5. Day off tomorrow.
Carolyntia I have a copy of the 'Grandma' book. It's very good isn't it (had a look through it again).Sorry to hear about your job woes.
Hi song_of_calliope and welcome!
Good night x0 -
5 quick pleasures for today.
1) Had bigger son's ENT appointment. He's never yet passed a hearing test and has been adenoid-free and had grommets for several years. Well, they didn't bother testing him today, just said the glue ear still hasn't returned and he's finally been signed off!
2) Had a toasted teacake and hot chocolate in the League of Friends cafe in the hospital. Our appointments there are getting fewer and fewer so must enjoy it while we can!
3) Popped to Sainsburys and bought the whole shop with Nectar points.
4) Dug over the borders in the back garden and my sister is going to help us choose and plant new plants and herbs.
5) Bought a coconut for sons from Sainsburys and went to see my brother so he could chop it open for us.
6) Went down to the river Teme where there is a "beach" made of pebbles (being quite a long way from the sea) and paddled in there for about an hour, the sun was so hot. Bigger son even had a swim!0 -
Mhagster - I will find 6 today as I couldn't count yesterday!
1. Lovely sunrise with mist followig the river.
2. Seeing geeses, rabbits and phesants in a field while walking my dog.
3. Lovely weather
4. Meeting a friend while walking who I hadn't seen for a while.
5. Finding out my extra hours at work have been approved from July.
6. DS1 being considerate and coming back by train to the closest station even though it involves a change and a wait.0 -
Morning all!
Sparrer - I so love Le Creuset, my ex bought us a set of pans whilst on a business trip to France not long after we'd met, and they are still going strong more than 20 years later, so def worth the cost in my opinion, though obviously they were cheaper in France! The shop is a factory seconds/end of line one, so things are generally a lot cheaper than normal, and a stray mark or blob doesn't seem to impede the usage in any way, so I have a fair amount I've bought in there! Was coveting some of the new pink pottery range that they have, but I was good and walked away!
Right, my pleasures for yesterday:
1. Pair of geese flying overhead, lovely to see them in flight again, often watch several flocks (?) of ducks heading home overhead in the evenings in the summer and always makes me smile.
2. Getting girls their stuff at much reduced prices at Clarks Village, and watching my lovely girls walking around and being very proud of themWas very happy with ds too, his mate has picked him up an application form for the local services, where he works, so hopefully ds will soon be working part time - EMA is great and very useful, but has certainly been putting him off finding a job, but the thought of the summer with no money has finally kicked him into action! He was also lovely and moved all my heavy stuff for me before he went to his mates!
3. Eating a lovely couscous salad in the garden, hanging out load after load of washing, and getting raised veg bed put together, plus going and buying another two as they look so good and I have more space than I thought. All pleasures made possible by this fantastic sunshine!
4. Making lovely light iced buns, choc ice cream and chutney - all quite simple to make without gadgets really, but so much quicker with them! My food processor is fabulous! Took best friend the last of the strawberry ice cream and some chutney, and in return he's promised me a sack of onions and litres of cream - the joy of knowing a chef! Though in return he wants a couple of tubs of vanilla ice cream, think that's not too much of a hardship lol!
5. Went to see Red Riding Hood with best friend, was okay, but think it was aimed at 14 year old girls really! Pleasure was that it wasn't my turn to pay
Have a good day all xxxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
