5 for today (Weds).
1) Smaller son went to mum and dad's for a while.
2) Bigger son and I popped to the Range for gardening stuff then went to a nursery with my sister and got lots of plants...
3) Sister spent HOURS planning the borders and putting plants in. Looks much better now.:-)
4) Bigger son's friend came to play and all 3 boys were very well behaved.
5) Roast dinner.
6) Boys went to karate and got on OK.
7) Nipped into the forest for some bark chipping thingies for the new garden.
8) Went to the pub after with boys and my sister.
Now, on a separate issue - what happens when a cheque bounces? I haven't written a cheque in years and have not had one bounce. When we went to karate, the instructor said the boys' dad had paid for something and his cheque had bounced (no, I didn't titter). So - does the instructor get "another go" at getting his money? Should I tell the ex? How does it all work???0 -
Hi, missing for the last few days so a combined pleasure list for me :
1) Sitting in my favourite place yesterday in the good weather, watching the cricket:j
2) Raspberry ripple ice cream
3) Physio appointment - although the actual treatment was not a pleasure it feels like its making a difference
4) Message about an exercise class on Friday that I thought wouldn't happen because of the bank holiday
5) Waking up to a lovely email that made me smile;)
Enjoy the day and the weather and for those of you like me that don't now get a 4 day break keep smiling.

Morning all!
Frith - karate instructor needs to contact your ex and tell him, though his bank have probably already written to him, and will almost def have charged him for the bouncing pleasure!
Had a busy day yesterday, could have done with a few more hours, cooking and tidying seemed to take a long time! Anyhoo my pleasures:
1. Took dd3 swimming, never really feel like it, but it's lovely to see how she's improving, and I do quite enjoy doing a few lengths once I get in!
2. Made lovely oaty bread and rolls, tiny bit of bread left when I got home from work, so was able to have beans on toastAlso made some currant buns, which are delicious too, and nice and filling for the kids!
3. Weather is still gorgeously warm and sunny, and hopefully I will get out in the garden today as I ran out of time yesterday!
4. Got through more washing and dried it out on the line, smells so nice after a good airing.
5. Picked up a bag of flour this morning from the cupboard, not realising it had a hole in, a very big hole, and ended up looking like Caspar! Made me giggle!
Hope everyone has a lovely day xxxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Mummysaver - I smiled at the image of you covered in flour. It makes a huge difference to the clearing up when your initial reaction is laughter rather than annoyance.
1. Lovely day even if I had to work. Saw an amazing variety of birds from the window.
2. Chat with a friend while walking my dog.
3. Tidied out a cupboard - I have things for the CS and have binned some rubbish.
4. Sold an item on ebay.
5. Tea was moneysaving from the freezer as everybody ate at different times so managed to use uo 3 individual portions I had put in there.0 -
morning everyone,
I didn't post last night as I was out at a singles party with a friend.... anf I am skiving off work this morning as I have a blood test in about half an hour.... I will work through lunch to make it up though.
1) SUNSHINE
2) Went to the pub after work for one of the PR girls birthday. Nice of them to include me.
3) Singles night was ok... I met one of the guys I had been speaking to at the previous one and who I had exchanged a couple of emails with. We got on well but I ddn't really feel a spark.
4) My friend who I went with met someone that she thinks there could be potential with, so fingers crossed for her. She is absolutely lovely but finds it hard to meet people as she is a single mum.
5) Yummy cake in the office yesterday. The Communications department have started what they call a Friendship Cake. The point of it is that you share some of the starter culture with 5 friends who then make the cake and pass on the starter to 5 of their friends.
Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine!!!!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Hello, busy day here!
Had a scarey start when there was a HUGE BIG spider on my washing line! Much shrieking and heeby jeeby-ing!
1.Drove to near by town & had a scone for breakfast.....had walnuts in it,which I wasn't expecting!
2.Went to the library & watched Tuesday's Eastenders! (saddo!)
3.Went to Salvos and bought a gorgeous ,purple velvet, large foot stool which will be used for an extra seat. It is very lovely , a bit expensive(ish) but much cheaper than if it was brand new..! So as I am supposed to be economising this month I have emptied my sealed pot! Was just $2.50 short of total. It was in very good condition & have just given it a wee clean.
4.Got all tidied up.....ironing done with no spiders found but everything got an extra shake today!
5.Had a nice chat with my mum & MIL.0 -
Evening all.
mhagster - I thought I was unlucky to find a hornet in my flat earlier in the week, but that's nothing compared to some of the 'things' you get in Australia. <shudder> I'm glad it got discovered outside rather than when you bought the washing in.
mummysaver - poor you, getting a flour shower! Well done for laughing about it, though.
1) Another brilliant sunny day, and it's so warm - it's more like July than April today.
2) Taking photos of my favourite tree in all its floral glory, to remind me how lovely it looks once all the flowers have gone.
3) Managing to keep an appropriately respectful face during the "we'll miss you" speech at a colleague's leaving do. It was a real challenge as she's a serious pain in the rear and we're all actually delighted she's gone.
4) A colleague who's going off on holiday was about to throw away a perfectly good apple when I stopped her and rehomed it.
5) The boss deciding we could all go home early as there were so few people in the office. :j
6) More of my seeds have germinated.I think the big ones are courgettes; I'm not quite sure what the others are without labels.
7) Going out with friends tonight, safe in the knowledge I don't have to get up for work tomorrow. (Not that I'm planning to get drunk - I'm not- it's just a long walk from my flat and it doesn't matter today how late I end up getting home.
)
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -

Phew, haven't had time for a lot lately - lots going on! Here's a few pleasures for the week:
1. Watching the mist rolling along the river this morning from the office window before work started. It was a bit creepy, but gorgeous.
2. Went for a nice walk around the block with DH this evening.
3. Bought my first ever Kilner jar with a view to doing some bottling. I have no idea where to start, so I think the preserver's thread is getting a hit.
4. Writing a shopping list. That's a simple pleasure - buying only what I need, and knowing I can make do very well.
5. The sunny weather means I'll get the chance to do some more gardening this weekend.
Hope everyone is ok - sorry for not being about much but life is a bit busy atm! Have a nice evening.
