Evening all
Mummysaver - boy have you got magical powers...see number 1....I'll need your help in May
marmiterules - that would be great...can you PM them to me when you get timethanks
Frith - I hope everything went ok with the ex
mhagster - that sounds great - do you want to swap?
1) I've got an interview :j - I applied for my dream job in January. Apparently 5000 people applied for the 10 jobs . I'm one of 18 people being interviewed for two positions....it's certainly made me feel a lot more confident in my CV
2) I've been accepted temporarily to help another project out....so not being shuffled off into the corner for my redundancy just yet
3) Finished work early :rotfl:
4) My hols have started
5) My mum arrives tomorrow
6) Found 10p at the back of a drawer when I was clearing it out today
7) Beautiful sunny day once the fog cleared
8) No smoking day - four weeks tomorrow :A
Hope you all had a great one
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Wow Carolyntia, that's fab news about your interview and your non-smoking
Frith - hope the ex took the news okay......
Ladyhawk - can I come and work on your floor please
MarmiteRules - your jam sounds delish
1. Watching DD run about in the sunshine
2. Read a good book
3. No spend day
4. No petrol day - in fact I haven't left the house or garden, didn't even go onto my parents' driveway today!
5. Nice glass of wine with dinner
6. Few texts with OH .....would be nice to speak to him though *sigh* we keep missing each other and the phone reception here is dreadful. Never mind I'm back home on Sunday evening so hopefully Monday we'll go for a picnic or something with DD.
7. I'm feeling a bit miserable about a couple of things, but I'm aware enough to know that they are very minor and by tomorrow I should be fine and happy again so there's no need to try and call OH to moan at him about how pants things are, as I'm sure they're not really if you see what I mean! That's a pleasure isn't it, I'm "well" enough to acknowledge when I'm having a down moment.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a chirpier day for me - but I anticipate I'll be spending as we're going out to a local town to celebrate St George's Day0 -
Thanks for all the good wishes. It's the behaviour of the ex's new girlfriend that has really floored the boys, I think. Anyway, we talked about it quite a lot yesterday and they were sure they didn't want to go. This morning, they refused to walk with me to his car...
I couldn't really leave them in the house while I walked to the car. MrN came round 10 minutes before kick off with a cup of tea and I realised my knees were knocking! I chickened out in the end and phoned the ex but his phone was turned off. I left a very short message but he hasn't phoned back. MrN wandered round the village a bit but couldn't see his car and I locked us in the house but the ex didn't come round.
This is all rather serious and I will be hauled into court because of it. Today, I am just too tired to care.
Anyway! 5 for today.
1) Not having to worry about the boys being away. Because they're not away!
2) MrN bringing tea round this morning and being on patrol. :-)
3) Pretty much finishing off half of the garden.
4) Sunny weather.
5) Went to Ikea with sons and MrN. :-)0 -
Frith I'm relieved for you that there was no confrontation today. Re the consequences, I understand what you say re going back to court, the ex doesn't seem to understand the boys and their feelings, but surely the court will take into account their wants/needs. Thinking of you and hoping today won't lead to more problems for you all
marmite well done on the nsd's, brilliant to reach target before the end of the month. I've fallen by the wayside a bit...:o
Carolyntia good news you're needed at work a little longer. Everything crossed for the interview. Do you know when it will be, or are you keeping it quiet until afterwards?
jinty congrats on the shopping trip, what a super saving
Kittikins so pleased to hear someone else hasn't forgotten St. George's Day through all these Bank Holidays and wedding mania
1. Went to the garden centre with the vouchers I was given for Christmas and bought a Doyen du Comice patio pear. There would have been a small amount of change but I needed the tub and compost too, so spent rather more than the value of the voucher. On the plus side it should keep me in pears in the future so not a completely naughty spend
2. the weather, of course
3. Have had problems with my mobile for a week or so and was on the verge of buying a new one but thought I'd just ask the techie board if anyone knew of a solution. Two replies explained it's the service not my phone, and told me how to adjust it, saving me having to find the money to replace it
4. Fifth day running I've managed to water all the plants using only grey water
5. Watched last Wednesday's SuperScrimpers this evening, and felt very smug that I could tell them how to do some of the things they do even cheaper, thanks to MSE
Night night, sweet dreams

I'm going away for a few days so won't be posting so here are mine for yesterday.
1. Met a friend while dropping DS1 off at a friends and stayed for lunch.
2. Lovely walk and saw more geese.
3. Whilst driving saw some gorgeous bluebells.
4. Collected DS2 up from his walk. He had a great time even with blisters and sunburn!
5. Using up leftovers for tea so no need to throw any food away.0 -
Good Morning. I'm gld to see that a lot of you have been able to start to enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend. I have one more day to work and then I will get my 2 days off so I'm hoping that today passes quickly without incident.
My 5 for yesterday :
1) Receiving a nice email from someone I am trying to get to know a little better
2) Being able to help a work colleague understand the 'cycle' he's going through as I have recently been in the same place
3) An outdoor circuit class this evening - hard work but fun
4) HM crab pate for tea
5) Chilling with a glass of wine
Enjoy the lovely weather this weekend:j0 -
Morning all!
Carolyntia - will save all my magical powers for your interview date lol! Well done and good luck!
CCP - lol at your humming!
Frith - glad you didn't have a showdown, and hopefully your ex will be advised by his sol that the boys wishes will be taken into account by the courts, meantime, enjoy your 'extra' weekend with them
Villagelife - enjoy your time away.
Amanda - hope the day passes quickly and you can get on with enjoying your days off! This is the first Easter I've had off for years, and it's lovely!
Sparrer - oooh, now I'm coveting a pear tree! Ideally I'd like more fruit trees in the garden as we all eat so much, just a shame it's not quite warm enough for oranges and lemons here!
Kittikins - glad you conquered your 'moment', always nice when you can see past it to a brighter day ahead! I too was out of sorts last night, quite possibly due to too many hormones I think, anyway today I have woken in a good mood and feeling all is right with the world
Right, my pleasures for yesterday:
1. Meeting friend and her family at the beach, in the end my bunch were busy, so just dd3 came with me and brought a friend. The kids all had a great time playing and rockpooling, I enjoyed a catch up and giggle!
2. Getting lots of housework done yesterday, which meant that house looked pretty tidy when we got home, and not too much needs doing indoors today.
3. Looking forward to getting my veg beds done today, was too uncomfy and disgruntled yesterday!
4. Being woken by cows mooing this morning, as a change from the usual dawn chorus lol!
5. Reminder about St Georges Day - thank you! As I read it, I thought, but that's on 23 April, then realised that was indeed the date today lol! Must think of something to do with the kids to celebrate
Have a good day all xxxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hello everyone!
Nearly 2 weeks since my last post here as I took DS1 & DS2 to spend a week at "Nannies & Grandads" and they have no PC. Having said that we've been back since Sun but been busy and out of routine with DH off work and kids at home. Will do a summary of last 2 weeks instead of a day!
1. Lovely week with parents. We did lots of fun cheap/free things locally. Boys loved playing in a much nicer, bigger garden than ours (one day we'll have the time and energy to make it nice sigh) and doing crafty things with their Nanny.
2. My sister came to stay with at my folks for a couple of precious days too.
3. Sis won a small amount of money and instead of putting it towards her debts, she insisted (against my protests) in spending it all on coffee and cake for me and her when I "escaped" from the kids while we shopped for bargains together and on treats for my boys. She has been very good at scrimping and saving for ages and I could see the pleasure she had in treating us all.
4. Fab sis also trimmed my hair for me again, prolonging proper cut at hairdressers. My mum did my home dye for me so all the missed bits at the back got covered properly for a change!
5. Careful spending in week one of school hols meant we could go on 2 'big days out' with kids this week, one to a butterfly/zoo type place with friends, the other just us 4 to the Natural History Museum. Both days were really great. I'm not one for feeding animals etc (too yucky!) but I surprised myself by prising a poisonous leaf out of a wallaby's mouth which was bounding away from the keeper in hot pursuit. A mother's protective instinct I think, as soon as I heard the word 'poisonous'!
Probably more to say but must get on with some chores, not even dressed yet, can't seem to get going today. Will come back later and catch up on several pages of posts I missed reading.
Hope you're all having a good day whatever you're doing...0 -
Good morning all!
Thanks Sparrer for the congrats re spending - and the patio pear sounds lovely.......Hmmmmm, quite fancy one of those!
Yesterday my 5 things were
1. Going back to bed after OH left for work and having 3 hours of snoozing and reading.
2. Spending some time with OH planning the planting of a small area of the garden which needs re-doing after the winter.
3. Watching Gardeners World and getting loads of ideas- I love Monty Don.:blushing:
4. My next door neighbour chopping down a HUGE conifer, which, while it was in his garden, the blasted thing overshadowed ours. After five years, its gone!:j
5. Getting a surprise pack of chocolate bunnies through the post!
Have a lovely day all:)
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -
Have had an amazing day!
1.Have just rediscovered the pleasure of chocolate....it is just the early hours of Easter Sunday but I did wait till midnight!
2. Have enjoyed being a tourist in Sydney, drove to friends & parked at theirs & then hopped on a ferry. You only pay for the oldest child.....so 2 free!
3. Wandered round 'The Rocks' area and had a lovely lunch then we walked to the Opera House & Botanical Gardens, then back on ferry to friends apartment.
4. Had a lovely barbeque on their balcony overlooking the harbour with the night city skyline as the backdrop. Came home with easter eggs!
5.Really just been a fab day, weather was pants! Poured with rain all morning ,then on & off in afternoon, but the company & scenery made up for it!0
