Hi Everyone...
I am so glad that working week is over... it had moments of pure suckiness. I was contacted by an agency today about a job with one of our competitors... and they are offering quite a lot of money... and I would get 3 months gardening leave so I am sorely tempted... I think its worth investigating even if I done get it offered it or take it.
1) IT'S FRIDAY EVENING!!!!! Yippee!!!
2) My company won a couple of awards last night and part of them winning was down to my work. I got some nice emails from some very senior people congratulating us. I love my job (despite what I have written above) but I get so frustrated with the heirarchical nature of things and the fact that everyone seems to have teflon jackets and sloping shoulders. GRR!!
3) NSD - 3rd of the week!
4) Left the office on time
5) woke up early and got some washing on, made my lunch, pootled about and generally made it into the office in a calm manner... until my boss sent me a stupid email and then I was ready to slap someone... I restrained myself and after a strop with a colleague felt a lot better.
Hope you al have a great weekend and enjoy the supposed good weather.

Welcome all the new posters , it's good to read all your pleasures
Thank you Carolyntia, it's been a very odd week. Discovered when I eventually managed to get an appt with my GP - on Wednesday (!) Ladyhawk, that I don't have shingles at all, and the presc meds were causing me to feel strange, in fact quite ill. Anyway seems my self-diagnosis was right, it is muscular, and by tomorrow when hopefully the meds are out of my system I can start to take the analgesics I needed in the first place!
MHags congrats on your 'new' car should make life a lot easier for you, and you'll be taking those hills in no time
CCP just a thought, do you make your white sauce in the mw? I melt the butter in a polythene bowl, add the flour and a little milk, keep adding more milk ever 30 secs or so and giving it a really good whisk each time. When I made it in a saucepan it was always like a brick but this seems to work much better for me
mummysaver well done on the extra in your account, isn't it nice when you get those sort of surprises
villagelife thanks for the mental image of blossom and bluebells
Frith what a nice pediatrician, professionals like that make things feel so much less stressful
1. finding out I'm not as ill as the quack (and I use that word carefully) said I was, when I knew I wasn't in the first place, I only was after taking the meds he gave me for what I haven't got! IYSWIM
2. everything in the 2nd bedroom stripped out right down to the underlay. Been meaning to do it for ages and have just got around to it. Washed all the paintwork down, now it's ready to decorate, soon to become a pretty blue and gold guest room
3. the new television is in place, a flat screen which apparently has a much better picture than the 'old' one, not that I can notice a difference. Perhaps I should get my eyes tested! The old has gone to a lady setting up home after living in an abusive relationship
4. The almost daily changes in the garden, everything growing happily away and looking lovely. Looks like I'm going to get a good crop on the espalier Cox, only its third year but the blossom is thick, and almost the size of full blown roses! I've almost run out of wall to train it along, might have to go round the corner soon
5. Made a good loaf and some pastry without scales as the batteries died a couple of week ago and I forgot to replace them. Decided I'll buy some that don't need batteries, it's the second time it's happened and it's such a pain - modern isn't always more convenient
Have a good weekend, stay well, or get well now. Night night

Hi, I don't normally post but I always make sure that I read the thread every morning as I'm having my cup of tea.
However this week has been particularly stressful so I have decided to try and find 5 pleasures for the week just gone and then start to contribute a little in a bid to try and be less stressful and more thankful!
So this weeks pleasures:
1) A lovely run earlier in the week along the canal
2) An email from my oldest friend letting me know she's in town this weekend
3) My lovely mum doing my ironing
4) Kitty love from my cat
5) keeping control of my money in a stressful week.

Hello everyone, have been busy, busy, happy, happy, and haven't had time to post before now
1. Felt like I was at death's door on Thursday, so my lovely friend let me stay in bed all day and kept the children busy (and even babysat another child for me for a few hours (poorly baby's mummy has a son in DD's class and she really wanted to go and see baby without her DS getting bored). What a fab friend she is
2. Managed to eat a bit of the lovely dinner fab friend cooked for us
3. 2x NSDs
4. 2X No petrol days
5. We have made plans to go and visit friend and her DD soon
6. Finallyhave got to see OH
It's been a long week without him, even with my friends here!
7. My parents have had a couple of viewings on their house, so hopefully someone will fall in love with it soon and they can move nearer to me and DD.
8. Managed to 'persuade' DD to let me braid her hair last night and she now looks evey more stunning than usual
9. Had a funny moment in the supermarket when the checkout chap looked at me and OH and asked how DD got her amazing hair.....errm, lovely that he thought we looked like a happy nuclear family, but....the texture is not linked to either of us...
10. DD and her friend told me I looked beautiful when I put a nice dress on yesterday
11. OH and his parents both bought DD a huge easter egg, very kind of them(they will put mine to shame as it's tiny
)
12. Final lovely pleasure is that OH will be staying with me til Monday, hooray0 -

Morning all!
Welcome Amanda - I like reading the thread first thing too, reminds me that it's the small pleasures that keep us all going!
My pleasures for yesterday/this morning:
1. Had a lovely day shopping with my girls, not sure it was very OS, but they did spend their own money and not mine lol! I'd given dd3 some money in exchange for a gift card she was given for her birthday, New Look has limited appeal for a 10 year old really, anyway I found a dress I'd been coveting in the sale for £6, so I was most pleased! Also treated myself to a triangular orthapaedic cushion, used to have one and found it fab for support whilst breastfeeding, so decided to get another for Spudette's arrival!
2. Due to all the super refunds popping into my account, I treated the girls to lunch out, and it was lovely, and then we all chose a bath bomb from Lush - last of the big spenders me! Got ds one as well, he hid his excitement well lol!
3. Got all the clean washing that was in a pile at the end of my bed hung up and put away, looks much neater now!
4. dd1 cooked dinner, had fahitas in the end as everyone was too full for a roast. This was a fabulous pleasure as dd1 doesn't cook a huge amount, and lately has been getting quite keen. ds hovered over her a bit, as he was worried she'd do something wrong, but even he had to admit that it was delish!
5. Decided to spend my tesco vouchers that I didn't know I had on a food processor, was considering an all singing all dancing Kenwood Chef, but as ds pointed out, a spoon and bowl work just as well mostly and the space needed would be a pain! I do have an electric whisk anyway, and the processor can handle dough, so wise decision! Now I just need to order it - have also been looking at pressure cookers as I will have vouchers left over! Tis a lovely pleasure being able to chose something for no "real" money that I've been lusting after for ages!
Hope everyone has a lovely day xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Sparrer - I'm pleased that its not shingles as it can last for a long time and be very painful.
My five for yesterday are
1. Found some asparagus growing wild. The first of the year.
2. DS1 and DS2 getting on well and DS1 did allteh driving today so I could stay in.
3. DS2 packing and remembering everything for his Duke of Edinburgh gold practise walk.
4. Many of my seeds are coming uo.
5. Having a chat with a friend.0 -
Have had a good day!
1. had my Saturday scone! was most pleasant and a good read at papers.
2. didn't need to buy much today....well didn't need to buy anything really but still managed to spend money!
3. got all my washing dried & ironed. I have not liked it this week when my washing wouldn't dry in the house as there was no heating on. Have been spoiled with all my sunny days & it drying in an hour in 30o + heat....think those days are over for a while! I like to do a washing everyday & get it ironed as soon as possible!
4. struggled to find a swimming costume for DD1 today.....as summer is over! Then found one, drastically reduced to $3.00 but it went through till at original price......much humming & hawing from shop assistant while I insisted it was $3.00......got it for $3.00
5.chips for tea! We don't get bags of chips here, you get 'minimum chips' ! So we got 2 boxes of minimum chips which did the 5 of us! Had bought 4 a few weeks ago and were horrified at the amount! 2 will suffice!
Think that's me! Have a good weekend!0 -
5 for Friday.
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Box came from Graze full of nibbles.
3) Watched a queen wasp build her nest. Very interesting but it'll have to go - it's in our porch!
4) Went to see my friend for her son's 5th birthday party.
5) Had tea at Ikea.
6) MrN came round and has just gone. :-)
Feel really tired and dopey, though. Can hardly string a sentence together this morning!0 -
Hi,
For today and the last few days:
1. Enjoying days off after a hectic day at work on Thursday.
2. Went to the market today to get fruit and veg (instead of going to the supermarket).Walked in instead of taking the bus.
3. Managing to stick to a very tight budget this month.Plus three more NSDs.
4. Have got lots of finicky household jobs out of the way.
5. My neighbour's cat,who fell from a window on the second floor a few days ago,has been found safe and well.
Sparrer glad that you now have the appropriate treatment.Get well now!
