Have been M.I.A for a couple of weeks due to extreme busy-ness! Haven't managed to catch up with all the pleasures but just wanted to say to Sparrer - hope you feel better NOW!
Have had loads of pleasures over the past couple of weeks - feel like we have turned a corner adfter a prolonged bout of negativity.
Here's todays pleasures though:
1) Sister in law is currently visiting. Always great company.
2) DH made some of his infamous nettle pesto today, which we had for tea.
3) Managed to spend a couple of hours on the beach before the rain came.
4) Enjoying standing at the end of the garden just being warm in the sun and looking around at things.
5) Reading 'The Midwich Cuckoos' - makes me want to see 'Village of the Damned' again!DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for thinking of me Carolyntia and CCP.
Caterina - you will be missed so come back to visit when you get a sec.
Sparrer - what did the doc say about the drugs?
I got some more of the good painkillers this morning and am feeling a little brighter this afternoon - still a little cotton wooly though. I forgot to mention to the doc that I have been feeling light headed but she has asked me to go back for some blood tests next week so I will remember to tell her about that then. She thinks it could be the antibiotics that I have been on for the last year but we will see.
1) The wonderful NHS... I always marvel at how wonderful it is and how lucky we are to have our imperfect system.
2) A new colleague started today and I think she is going to settle in nicely.
3) I am having laser hair removal at the moment so I never have to shave my legs again... while it is not particularly pleasant I spent a nice hour this afternoon chatting to the beauty therapist while she zapped my delicate bits.
4) Coming home and having a tidy up - i have not had the energy to do that in absolute weeks and it felt so good!
5) Fresh sheets on my bed... bliss!
6) Giving in to my love of trashy TV and watching Glee. My name is Ladyhawk and I am a closet Gleek!
Night everyone.
Sleep tight
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
1. YS cheese bought for Saturday's dinner party, hope it'll last that long in the fridge
2. Lovely walk on my own this afternon whilst DD played with her friend
3. Great chat with my friend putting the world to rights
4. Great PM from a lovely friend on here, sounds like her world is getting set to rights as well
5. Had some not so great news at work, but there will be a silver lining I'm sure, there always is.....
6. Made delicious dinner for us all. Lovely to have people to cook for, DD isn't always the most appreciative guest at the dinner table!0 -
Hi everyone!
Not been on here for a few weeks now! Had a few things to deal with which are now sorted, and I'm feeling pretty good at the moment :j
Random pleasures from recent times:-
1) Have decided to set up my own business (CV Consultancy) - could do with some income following my redundancy in November. I have the skills, and a friend is helping me get things set up (which involves doing a website  ) I really can't bear the idea of having to work for anyone again, after my last very stressful job
2) Pretty much cleared my spare room out and it's now my craft room / office. Really pleased with my efforts!
3) Visiting the family next Saturday
4) Cadbury's creme eggs in the shops :EasterBun
5) £10 of unused tesco vouchers found, thanks to Martins note in his newsletter, which doubled up to £20 voucher towards the camera I've wanted for ages
I shall have to have a good catch up on here, so apologies for not mentioning anyone by name,
Pam x0 -
Thank you everybody. Didn't get an appt today Ladyhawk, I have to phone again at 8am. Hope you get sorted out asap, too.
Welcome back Pam, good to see you and hear all your news. Good luck with the business
Carolyntia so relieved for you that copd wasn't a diagnisis. Smoked rollies for the last 5 years of my 40-year smoking habit, thinking they were more OS, stupid, huh? Got pneumonia in my left lung so was forced to stop and diagnosed copd three months later. Not the best fun, so I'm pleased you're clear of that. Good luck with the job hunting
1. the sunshine this moning
2. saw DD and DGD2
3. the rain at teatime which saved me having to water
4. had some fruit on its last legs so made a plum crumble, and a rhubarb and appple crumble.
5. Slept for 4 hours this pm, now going to my lovely bed to sleep some more
Wishing all the poorlies well now, night night and sweet dreams

Hi everyone - don't always post on here, but felt that I should have a lot to be thankful for! My 5 for yesterday:
1 - yet another Gorgeous day here in Yorkshire (it is today too!) I love this sunshine, even if I do have to water all my seedlings!
2 - went to see MIL - she's not too well and getting worse, but the children behaved themselves.
3 - had fish & chips for tea and STILL stayed within my points from WW.
4 - managed to sneak a quick cup of tea in with my oldest friend - lovely to see her and her OH as always.
5 - children fell asleep in the car on the way back - so a relatively peaceful journey.
Can almost manage 5 for today too - and its not even 8am!
1 - Gorgeous weather
2 - washing from load 1 already pegged out - much nicer than drying indoors.
3 - children playing (reasonably) nicely in sitting room
4 - managed to enjoy a cup of coffee on my own in another room!
5 - wasn't wakened by OH's snoring this morning - yipeeeeMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all!
My pleasures:
1. dd1 had a lovely day - thanks for the bday wishes CCP! and we all enjoyed the takeaway for dinner.
.
2. Feeling normal again today, blood pressure seems to have risen, yippee!
3. Listening to A History of the World in 100 Objects again - have downloaded it onto my phone.
4. ds not being rotten to dd1 - him and dd2 have a tendency to gang up on her, and lately it has got a bit out of hand, so their dad has now joined me in stamping down hard on it! Seems to be working as ds refused to join in with dd2, leaving her looking a little foolish!
5. Cuddles at bedtime with dd3, finally her grump started to lift! Though promising to take her swimming today may have had something to do with it lol!
6. Waking up to the sound of all the animals around wafting through the window, rather than small boys clanking on their scooters up and down the pavements!
7. More sunshine again!
8. Kids having a lie in, and me getting a nice peaceful start to the day, I love the holidays!
9. Talking about all the different jobs I've done with dd3, she almost wet herself when she found out I once worked for a health and fitness mag - can't imagine why! Then telling one of my oldest friends about it, and laughing and remembering all the odd jobs that we'd forgotten, she actually wore a sandwich board once lol!
10. House being relatively tidy, girls have done their rooms, and thrown out loads of junk, and amazingly haven't dumped assorted stuff in my room or on the landing like normal - so much easier to clean when you don't have to move clutter. I don't think we'll ever be a minimalist household, but we're certainly on track to be a tidy (ish) one!
11. Looking forward to seeing my best friend this evening and going to the cinema.
Have a good day all xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Ooo, I haven't updated since Friday so I'll try and find 15 for Saturday, Sunday and Monday!
In no particular order...
1) Getting to work in the garden and clearing half a ton of pebbles and rubble.
2) Going out for lunch with mum and dad yesterday.
3) Beautiful sun all weekend.
4) Getting my tan back (takes 10 minutes!)
5) Boys OK.
6) Spending the weekend until Monday morning with MrN
7) Going for a long walk on Sunday. Or a bit of walking and a lot of looking at the views...
8) Chips on Saturday night.
9) All sons away over the weekend.
10) Going to PCWorld for a printer cable for mum and being told it was £19.99 then the man whispering "Go to the Range...." and they were £2.49 in there.
11) Watching Casualty on the iplayer.
12) School friend popping in on Sunday night.
13) Going to my brother's tennis club open afternoon on Saturday.
14) Being told the ex husband is moving further away.
15) Winning a couple of tops for the boys on Ebay.0 -
Evening all.
sparrer - I hope you managed to get an appointment today to get yourself sorted out.
frugalpam - the very best of luck with your new business. I think it's really brave of you, and really hope it all goes well.
Kittikins - I hope your cheese is still surviving - I know it wouldn't manage to make it to the weekend if it was anywhere near me!
Ladyhawk - I'm glad you're starting to feel a bit brighter, and I hope your GP manages to get you completely better very soon.
Carolyntia - I'm sorry to hear about your job woes.I hope you missed out on the latest job so you'd still be free for the perfect one that's waiting round the corner for you.
1) An all-day meeting which included a free lunch - only the usual slightly stale sandwiches, but I don't mind so much when they're free!
2) Managed a brief walk to the seafront during a short break.
3) Got to leave work early as I'd worked through most of my lunchbreak.
4) Picked up a pack of peppers (sounds like a tongue twister! :rotfl:) and found when I got to the till that they were half price.
5) Nicely OS / MS chicken stiryfry for dinner, using a small amount of chicken bulked out with loads of veg, with Approved Food noodles that work out at about 10p per portion, all flavoured with the last of a freebie pack of sauces I got last summer. :money:
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi all,
1. Sunshine.
2. HM Sweet and sour chicken in the slow cooker
3. Whilst working out how to stretch the food till payday, finding two small packs of skinless chicken thighs in my freezer
4. Making some lovely earrings for a friend - I had most of the things already so they cost about 60p for some earring wires and bits
5. Walking home - a pleasure because I am physically able, and I walk past the hospital on my way and remember being there previously and being glad I have no need to be there now.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
