Morning all!
Caterina - have a fabulous time today at the meet!
CCP - hope you're feeling much better now, and that the dizziness has gone.
Sparrer - hope that you feel well again soon too, sounds like a slightly slapdash attitude from the gp!
Well it's another beautiful day here, taking dd3 and her pals shopping as her birthday treat then she has more arriving for food and a sleepover! Should keep me out of mischief for the day! My pleasures for yesterday/today so far:
1. More glorious sunshine!
2. ds helping me with the shopping yesterday, though he generally does this on a Friday, it is always appreciated!
3. Raised veg beds were out of stock, but did get some very healthy and big rhubarb crowns, will get them into the garden and then sit back and wait for them to be ready to turn into crumble!
4. A lovely cup of Earl Grey whilst listening to the birds, cockerels and lambs, and the sound of silence from the kids!
5. ds spotting a new brush for the hound in Asda, saved a trip to the pet shop, and after removing what seemed like half a black bag of hair from the dog I walked into a relatively unfluffy utility room this morning! Must be nice for him to get rid of all that excess hair too!
6. Looking forward to taking a book, drink and snack and sitting in the sunshine, whilst dd3 and co shop - taking them to a mall, so they will be fairly safe and secure and unlikely to get lost!
7. Buying a copy of the baking mag that had free silicone cupcake cases for 99p - not sure if they've reissued it or Tesco was putting out old stock lol! Anyway, dd2 wanted a copy and I missed it the first time round, so was happy to spot it, and she was happy to receive it!
8. Watching an episode of Poirot after our shopping and before girls got home, ds ordered me to rest, he said I looked tired and was starting to sound grumpy lol! Was nice to plop down in front of my choice of telly in the middle of the day!
9. Nice bbq yesterday evening with the kids, cooked by ds and dd2.
10. Finally getting round to cleaning out the dishwasher, oh how I hate scraping goo from it, and have threatened the next person who doesn't scrape their dishes with unmentionable tortures. Cleaned the filters out with plenty of hot soapy water, then tipped bicarb and vinegar down the drainage bit. Pleasure is that I've finally done it!
Have a great day all xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Get well soon Sparrer (((hugs)))
Yesterday - another lovely day
1. Thank you for all your prayers and thoughts for my friend's little baby girl; she's now out of intensive care and in the 'standard' part of the special care baby unit. Hopefully in another couple of weeks she'll be at home with her family
2. Had a very quiet work day and the little bits I had to do were appreciated.
3. Made scrumptious tuna pasta bake and managed not to eat the lot
4. DD and I made some fairy cakes whilst the oven was on, yum yum
5. Ate dinner outside in the glorious early evening sunshine
6. Slept really well, yippee!! Hopefully my months of insomnia are at an end, as I slept til nearly 6 this morning0 -
Sparrer - get well soon. If the pain is from shingles it will stop at the middle of the back and chest and not be all over the chest and back.
Mummysaver - I had visions of your rhurbarb turning itself into crumble while you sat back and watched. It made me smile.
1. Lovely weather.
2. Sitting outside, on my newly washed chairs, having a coffee mid morning.
3. Washing drying on line. Lots of washing done on economy 7 and all ironing up to date.
4. More ebay parcels sent - helps with the decluttering and the money.
5. Tuna fishcakes for tea. First time that I have made them and realised how easy and tasty they are.
6. More seeds growing and I have planted more.
7. Garden looking tidier.0 -
1. Had an early night with OH last night :-)
2. Beautiful sunny day.
3. Planting up a load of cheap bedding plants into pots later, and sowing some herb seeds. At mo. garden is just what we laughably call a lawn (bare mud, weeds, ants nests and bit of grass) and nothing else so determined to cheer it up this summer.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -
quick 5 as I'm heading to bed!
1. up very early, enjoyed the sunrise, peace & quite and did my wii fit!
2.went for my Saturday Scone.....still in denial scones are cakes....think they are bread-like!
3.did shopping, got some reduced meat & by buying particular juice wil get 15cents off each litre of petrol next time.
4.Lazy afternoon, got washing dry and it's now pouring with rain, not had rain for a couple of weeks so good for the gardens!
5.went out for dinner to a very nice chinese restaraunt....rather expensive but very nice, service & food were terrific!
Night x0 -
1. Washing on the line! Hooray! A lovely sunny day, people in summer clothes (Optimists, this is Co. Durham, and it isn't THAT warm!). Spring has sprung.
2. It's Grand National day and I have a decent TV to watch it on. I have only 'missed' 2 Nationals since 1965. In 1980 my bro got married on the day and in 2005 I had to work.
3. Friend popped in to help me to tidy up after the central heating was installed.
4. Did my tax online - so straightforward - a rebate from last tax year is due!
5. Paid in a cheque to overpay mortgage, inspired by 4.
6. Son is away so I treated myself to steak that was RTC.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Sparrer I've just read your message about having shingles.
Please do not think it odd for the Dr to have prescribed anti-depressants.Some ADs can be used specifically for neurogenic pain (such as shingles) and these can prove very effective. This is why he/she will have prescribed them.
Hope you get it sorted out soon.Take care x0 -
Evening all.
villagelife - I had exactly the same thought about mummysaver's rhubarb - I was going to ask where I could buy self-cooking fruit from!
mummysaver - joking aside, I hope you really enjoy your rhubarb. It's one of the few things I can't grow in my little patio garden and would dearly love to have.
Kittikins - that's great news about your friend's LO - I hope she's soon out and back with her family.
sparrer - I hope your GP is able to work out what's wrong, and get well now from whatever it is.
1) A nice lie-in this morning.
2) Beautiful warm sunshine again and, for the first time this week, I actually felt well enough to do something with it. :j
3) Got the first of my seeds in - tomatoes and chillis and peppers, oh my!(And aubergines, lettuce, French beans and courgettes - most of which were freebie seeds. :money: It's just a shame I didn't think to use waterproof ink when labelling my seeds, as it all washed off when I watered them and now I don't know what's in each row.
)
4) Found some RTC raspberries in Waitrose so decided to make some of my favourite raspberry and lemon muffins. I intended to freeze most of them as I've put on a bit of weight from doing nothing this week, but there's no room in the freezer so I'll just have to eat them instead. I'm having trouble feeling too sorry about that!
5) HM stuffed crust pizza tonight, my first attempt at a recipe from my new copy of the Takeaway Secret. Fingers crossed it works!
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Darn it, typed up lots of pleasures, and seem to have lost them
Right, will try again....
1. DD and I have enjoyed a lovely lazy day at home, enjoying the sunshine
2. NSD yippee!
3. NPD (no petrol day) - even better
4. Few texts with OH, more than I would normally get given that he's with his son, but not quite enough for me
5. DD and I made delicious bread
6. Felt like I was on holiday today, just sitting around at home with my beautiful girl
7. Read a couple of chicklit books0 -
My 5 (re-typed grrrrr as just lost original) well 7 actually...
1. nice lie-in this morning
2. had 3 hours on my own at home. Sorted though boys' entire wardrobes. Relieved to find have just about enough summer clothes for them. Most of last year's shorts still fit DS1 who is a skinny lad, some look slightly strange lengths ie. longer length shorts now inbetweenie length but can't afford to buy more for no good reason. Tons of too small clothes bagged up for my friend's 2 year old, she will be pleased. Lovely quiet lunch on my own - heaven.
3. boys tried on lots of summer shorts etc without moaning. Unheard of and frankly unbelievable! I did offer a small reward beforehand and they really earnt it.
4. DH cooked fab spag bol for our family tea -he gets home from work too late in the week to eat with boys so we really look forward to our "family teas" at the weekend
5. NSD. Also nice to stay home all day for once.
6. sitting here on sofa with DH watching footy, my gorgeous soft, red throw my mum bought me on and 2 contented sleeping cats btwn us. 2 contented sleeping little boys upstairs (just been up for a little look at them...can't resist, DH thinks I'm dotty but they are so beautiful still at 4 & 6)
7. My sis won a well deserved £28 on Grand National. DS2 won the last Easter egg at the school raffle yesterday (there were an awful lot of eggs donated by kind parents) Great to hear people being lucky!
Looking forward to tomorrow...nothing special planned, just looking forward to a nice Sunday with my little family
night all....0
