Hello everyone,
1. lovely sunny day. DS2 at home today (nursery break up before main school) so no mid day school run to do. Nothing planned so having slow day.
2. chatted for ages to a dear friend this morning. We have arranged for them(friend, Oh and DS) to visit soon. Usually get together every few months but its been a whole year since we've managed it this time.
3. spur of the moment invite to pop round a friend's house for a cuppa before school run. Her son J is 2 and adores DS2 who is 4. DS2 looks after little J, its so sweet.
4. due to no 3 have postponed trip into town. will go on my own tomorrow, saving stress and parking fees as I can walk in (and exercise too!)
5. one of our cats is curled up on a kitchen chair next to me, snoring away happily and really loudly. I love seeing my 'cats in a circle"
6. attempts to cut down on laundry working - I am not doing any washing today - yipee!
7. have unexpected hour after this post to do some housework (slowly!)
8. spent some time playing games with DS2 this am (now don't feel guilty he is in front of TV)
sending you all a smile0 -
Hello all
Welcome to heretolearn and savingqueen (sorry if I did not notice you before in case you have been posting already!).
Carolyntia AWWWW poor you re. tax, here, have another (((((((HUG)))))))!
Feeling sorry for myself today, last night I went to my ex-office party and ate something that did not agree with me, hence nausea and bad tummy all last night and still feeling dish-rag-like. However life is good even while I feel yukky, and here are my pleasures:
1 - The sun is shining again!
2 - Bedding laundry in the wash and ready to be hung to dry.
3 - Even feeling bad I managed to get a little gentle workout.
4 - Lost 2 more lbs! (Mind you, the way I was last night, it is so NOT surprising!).
5 - Got 2 free cinema tickets for preview of Arthur (I detest Russell Brand but love Helen Mirren so I hope it balances out).
6 - Really looking forward to tomorrow OS meet up!
Have a good day everybody xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Afternoon, all. Here's my pleasures for today:
1. The sunshine.
2. Watching the swans on the sun-glinted river.
3. Hearing Martin on BBC Radio 2 at lunchtime talking about saving money and fuel by driving/maintaining your car.
4. It's Friday!
5. Tea is prepped and will take 10 minutes to cook. Joy!
Have a good evening, everyone.

Evening all.
I didn't get into work today after all - when I woke up this morning I found the dizziness had come back and I decided I really shouldn't be driving.I know it was the only sensible decision but I still feel guilty, particularly after talking to my colleague at work and finding out she's practically arranged my whole conference for me.
Anyway, pleasures:
1) A pair of collared doves seem to be considering nesting in the eaves of the building next door. I'm sure the cooing will be very annoying for whoever owns the top floor flat, but I hope they build there so I can have the fun of watching them.
2) My mog lying in a patch of sunshine on the bed, upside down with his legs in the air. Such a dignified creature! :rotfl:
3) I grew some snapdragons last year and they were really disappointing, with only two or three flowers on two dozen plants. I left them over winter expecting that the cold would kill them, but it hasn't and now they've all got buds on them.
4) As I was at home anyway I washed two batches of towels and put them out on the line, and they've started to dry - that's a first for this year! :j
5) HM fish goujons for dinner. I seem to have got the hang of breadcrumbing things after many years' practice - at least only one hand ends up egged and breadcrumbed now.
Have a lovely Friday evening, all (except Mhags - I hope you had a nice Friday evening). Get well now Caterina!
Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi everyone,
Sparrer - so sorry to hear that you are poorly. I wish you a speedy recovery!
YAY!! Tis the weekend! I was feeling very unmotivated and grumpy this morning but feel much better now.
1) Had a bit of a sneaky lie in and only got to work at 9.15! oops! Oh well...
2) Went out for lunch at a fish and chip shop with two of the girlies from work.
3) Filled my car to the roof with goodies from work that we no longer needed and dropped them off at a local women's refuge. I think they were slightly unsure what to do with 100 cases of sanitary towels (don't ask) but am sure they will put them to good use.
4) As a result of number 3 I got home at 4pm, which gave me the opportunity to have a little snooze as I was feeling exhausted!
5) Beautiful sunshine... long may it last.
Have a great weekend
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
My 5 for today and yesterday:
1. Lovely and sunny here.
2. Running still going well.
3. Had a back massage and reflexology at a reduced rate.So relaxing that I wanted to be whisked home on a magic carpet.Unfortuanately this was not to be,so got the bus home.
4. Had planned to come home and make soup THEN defrost the fridge.Feeling rather tired,so decided to take it easy and do nothing much (except watch a film).
5.Had a wee snooze after work today.
Wishing you all a great Friday night!0 -
Hello
Pleasures for today:
1. Catching up with someone I used to work with today and them asking my advice on how to progress with a project they are working on, very good for the self confidence and nice to catch up
2. Not OS but most of our office finished up in the pub at lunch time, we just about took over the whole beer garden.
3. Nice to sit out in the lovely sunshine for an hour
4. Boss told me as he was going home I could go home early, who am I to argue
5. Walked home from work, saving money and making the most of the weather.
Hugs to all who need them and hope all who not feeling to good are better NOW0 -
Evening all
1) Beautiful sunny day and 18 degrees here in Aberdeen
2) Nice simple dinner
3) Finishing off a task at work that's taken me a month to do
4) Being told they've found my replacement and they start in May - will be discussing my transfer on Monday - I'll have to train the new person first though
5) One of my colleagues telling me in confidence that he's handed in his notice - we didn't get on for a long while but I knew he was really unhappy in his job so it's nice he trusted me with the news
6) NSD
7) 14 days without nicotine
8) Couple of drinkies this evening
Caterina - Thanks for the extra hug - not to worry the finances are all in hand for the tax....just need to get the car fixed and past the MOT - I'll only be getting 6 months tax though...I intend to change the car pretty quickly once it's sorted. As my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
5 for today. (Friday).
1) Finished smaller son's pirate work and emailed his powerpoint presentation to school and took in the ship's biscuits we made.
2) Smaller son won the Easter treasure hunt at school.
3) Went to see my mum, dad and brother for a cup of tea.
4) Free food box came from Graze and they had put good choices in for us.
5) Made quite a tasty curry for tea.
6) Train tickets came for our trip to the seaside towards the end of the holidays.
7) Played football outside for about an hour this evening.
8) No early starts for ages!
9) Helped bigger son make some birthday cakes for his father. First food I have prepared for that individual for over 6 years so that was nice of me! :-P
Hope everyone has a good evening.0 -
Well it's been a strange week, that's for sure! The pain I had under my arm earlier in the week has spread to front and back so decided I'd better stop popping so many paracetamol and went to the surgery this pm. Saw a GP I've not been to before, and he diagnosed shingles?! No rash or itching, just a really sore type pain which gets worse when I do anything strenuous so I'm pretty sure it's muscular. He gave me some meds for shingles, and something which he said would help the pain but on getting home I find they're for depression - that's the last thing I have! I asked if they were safe to take with my regular meds and he said yes but the leaflet tells me otherwise, so am def not taking those. Methinks a trip to my own GP is on the cards for Monday. Meanwhile I'm not able to go to the OS meet tomorrow, annoyed as I was really looking forward to this one which is going to be quite a biggie
However, to stop moaning and get on with my 5, which have been pretty good
1. Postie brought me a small cheque, the last of my windfall money which had been held back in case there were any expenses. There weren't
2. The fruit n veg stall by the chemist was just closing when I went to get my scrip, he gave me a whole carrier full for only £4, including four bunches of daffodils. Spent the evening peeling, scraping, chopping, slicing and freezing
3. The potatoes, which I covered for the second time earlier in the week, have grown through again. Covered them, with help from neighbour's DD, for the last time (can't get any more soil in the tubs), now I just have to wait for a couple of months til they've flowered. Quite exciting, having never grown pots before
4. Sitting out earlier this evening, watching one of the cats sleeping in the herb bed :mad:while listening to next door playing his guitar. So peaceful
5. A mug of hot chocolate
(((Hugs))) to everyone, sweet dreams
