5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Afternoon all.
Hugs to everyone who needs them, and particularly to your friend and her LO, Kittikins.
I haven't been around for the past few days as I'm really not well and my GP hasn't been a great help: he's prescribed some medication but it will take a couple of weeks to work and in the meantime I'll 'just have to put up with it'.On the plus side, it's keeping me out of the office - I went in on Monday morning as I had an important meeting and ended up saying something I shouldn't have said.
I just hope my manager either hasn't heard about what I said or has put it down to the fact I was feverish at the time, as otherwise there's a good chance I'll be in trouble when I go back to work. (I intended what I said as a joke, but the person I was speaking to is quite bright enough to know when a joke isn't really a joke.
)
There's been a few pleasures, though:
1) A blue tit landing on a pot plant just outside the patio doors, less than 2 foot from where I was sitting.
2) Two NSDs in a row.
3) My sister not getting a job she'd had an interview for (that's not as mean as it sounds - it was like Caterina's situation, where I think my sister would have felt obliged to take the job if it was offered, even though it clearly wasn't right for her. Now she's free to take something better when it comes along, as I'm sure it will.)
4) Going back to bed after phoning in sick this morning - and not waking up again until half past ten.
5) Finding I've got enough points in one of my survey accounts for another £15 Amazon voucher.
6) I made meatballs while I was feeling slightly brighter yesterday afternoon: most of them got turned into a meatball tagine, of which I ate one portion and froze two, and the rest will be with pasta for tonight's dinner.Back after a very long break!0 -
CCP - Get well NOW0

Thinking of you, and hoping you feel better very soon CCP
Thanks for the hugs, everyone. Yesterday just didn't seem to have a single thing that was good enough to remark. DH is under a lot of stress atm, and I can't work out how best to help. In some ways, I know I can't, which makes it worse as I want to make him feel better. The bad news is that it probably won't get sorted until near the end of the year, so I know I'll just have to bear with it and try to be strong for him. Yesterday just caught me out and I couldn't cope all that well. Sorry. Today is a little better, but not brilliant.
On a more positive note, here's some pleasures from today:
1. The sunshine. It does wonderful things to a person's mood when the sun is out.
2. The brown recycling bin (garden waste) is collected tomorrow morning, which means I'll be able to do more digging in the garden (stress relief, here I come! I've even thought of offering my services to friends and family so I can destress!)
3. My chilli seedling looks to have another sprout. Admittedly, only the one seed has germinated so far, but it's early days yet. I do hope to get a chilli or two.
4. Reading up on how to dry herbs. I've recently planted a basil plant, a thyme and today, a parsley plant. I've already got rosemary and want to add a couple more if I can find them (oregano and marjoram plants) and to make best use of them I want to dry them out, blitz, and use over winter as well as fresh. Now I feel I've a good idea of how to do that.
5. We're now past Wednesday, which means only two more days at work. And some of the kids are off on half term already, so the roads are a bit clearer than normal.
I'm just going to do some sausages for tea, and perhaps do a sausage and bacon sandwich for DH. There's a head of broccoli in the fridge which I know I've got to blanch and freeze, but thought it might be nice to make a cheese, bacon and broccoli quiche (maybe even with a bit of leftover sausage in it) so I might have a go at that. I keep feeling the need to stock up on things - must ... resist ... more tinned tomatoes! I've already put the word out to friends and colleagues that if they ever have too much of a glut of something and want to give it away (apples, plums, etc), then I'll gladly help them out. What they must think of me. ...
Have a nice evening, everyone.

Well I haven't really managed to fulfil one of New Year's resolutions by posting every (or nearly every) day on here. Can't even remember what the other things on the list were!
So here we go starting afresh (as with the diet too lol!:rotfl:)
After being stuck in with DS2 off sick from school and being unwell myself for weekend before that, I feel sooo much happier today.
1. sun shining
2. DS1 not moaning about DS2 not going to school & swim lesson
3. found 20p (shiny one too) in changing room
4. bumped into a friendly face from old toddler group in changing room
5. stuck to another New Year's resolution - just remembered, curb coffee shop habit- 2 opportunities and resisted both. v pleased with myself
6. found all sorts of useful things, gifts etc when decluttering (methinks another NYR!!) a long way to go still but small steps
7. invitation to a fav friend for lunch tomorrow with DS2
8. BEST- found out DS2 has place at primary school where he is already at nursery and DS1 goes to. Its out of our catchment so have been worried about place for months :j:j:j
thats 8 so I'll stop. not sure if this is the sort of stuff people post on this thread but wanted to bang something out while I have 5 spare mins. see if I can post some more
take care all0 -

3. Cooked a family favourite tonight of chicken and ham pie
4. Also made maid of honour tarts with left over pastry and a small victoria sponge
5. Had my hair cut today so can now see again
Hugs to all who need them or just want one0 -

Had a better day today!
1) Just seen the Cravendale advert - cats with thumbs....always makes me laugh
2) Got plenty of work done today and had a laugh with my staff who were in the office
3) I resisted buying half price flowers in Mr A today
4) Won some money on the premium bonds I got
5) Seen a couple of cars online that I want to go and look at over the weekend
6) Ebay listings seem to be attacting a lot of watchers still. Five have bids on so that's a good start

Hope everyone is ok....hugs to everyone that needs them
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Hi everyone,
I had such a nice day until this evening... grrr!!!! My new shoes have absolutely shredded my feet so the 5 minute walk from the pub to the train station was agony... then my train was delayed by 10 minutes, then I got back to my car to find I had a parking ticket and finall some jerk decided to overtake me in a 30 mile an hour zone with oncoming traffic approaching which very nearly caused 3 car pile up.:mad:
The parking ticket is really unfair... I got to the station at 7.35am and forgot to pay for parking until 8.30am when I remembered to call them. At 7.45 they issued me with a ticket.:mad: I will appeal but I don't think I will win.
So let me try to think of the positives:
1) sunshine
2) Going to a social meet up in London and ran into a guy I met skiing. It was great to see him and this time we have exchanged numbers so can stay in touch. Its not quite as random as it seems as I knew he was a member of this particular meet up.
3) Sticking to water at the pub. I feel very virtuous!
4) Nice sadwich lunch courtesy of a meeting I was at followed by fruit salad (I avoided the crisps)
5) Being brave enough to bring up a very controversial subject at the mornings meeting which was taken very well by all concerned and the issue will be addressed, I hope.
Just remembered that my day also didn't start so well when at 3.30 this morning my carbon monoxide alarm decided to tell me that its battery was going flat.
Anyway I have to be up exceptionally bright and early tomorrow and I need my beauty sleep.
Night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Todays 5
1. nsd
2. The beautiful weather, I was very pleasantly surprised to find how hot, not just warm, it was in the garden today
3. Postie brought me a voucher from a survey site
4. Found a home for the glass jars I've been collecting, a friend phoned and I mentioned I'm going to freecycle them. She's just retired and going into self-sufficiency in a small way (chooks, more home baking etc) so said she'd be grateful for them
5. Just found/watched both episodes of superscrimpers which I'd missed as I'm out Weds evenings, interesting but I'm certain we could teach them a thing or two. Or three...:money:. Horrified that one family throws away about £20 of food a week, that's my weekly food bill for me, the 2 cats and the dog!!!!!
Night night, sleep tight

Kitchenbunny - hugs to you. Keep looking for the small pleasures it really does help when things are tough.
My five are

2. Managing a quick coffee and chat at work before working elsewhere.
3. Managed to fill up with petrol and it was 4p a litre cheaper than the local petrol stations.
4. Out with friends and we all took food with us and so was fairly cheap. I also got compliments on my pudding.
5. DS2 left me a funny and sweet note.0
