    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the commiserations for the lousy end to my day yesterday which then got worse as I slept really badly and was up at 5.45am in order to get the 6.45 train into London. I normally sleep so soundly and easily that any bit of trouble knocks me for six.

    1) Got into the office early to prepare for a 9am meeting. One of the guys from my team was there just before me. The pleasure was that normally he winds me up something rotten but he was not his normal patronising, self promoting, deceitful self so we managed to work in companionable silence until my boss came in.

    2) Went on line to check out how to appeal my parking ticket... only to find that they had put the wrong registration number on the ticket which makes it invalid!!!:j Hurrah!! :D:D:D

    3) NSD... lovely lunch was provided by the project team I am working with. Gorgeous fresh, crunchy salad with feta, smoked salmon, mixed seeds and chickpeas.

    4) Delivered some training this afternoon for the project team on ethical supply chains and sustainability which went really well. We got some fabulous feedback so hopefully we can roll it out to more of our managers.

    5) It's 9pm and I am in bed. I am going to finish my book and then get an early night... I'm pooped!

    Night all

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening everyone,

finally sitting down after doing lots of odds and ends

    1. had lovely afternoon with one of fav friends. always fab to see her. we get withdrawal symptoms otherwise!

    2. DS2 played really well with little girl my friend childminds (actually her last day with her as new baby due anytime)

    3. gave little girl above a "being a big sister is important/special !!! early Easter pressie". It was lovely seeing her surprised face

    4. my step-sister-in-law has had her 1st baby (after lots of years of TTC) today. over the moon! :j

    5. looking forward to children being home for hols and seeing my parents and sister next week (they all live a few hours drive away so we try and visit most school hols but not many visits in between)

    6. having a tiny glass of wine and couple of leftover kids' chocs before DH gets home from college

    :icotbaske
    7. have just made up a few little Easter bags with little chocs, colouring books, felts, stickers etc for close friends' children rather than Easter Eggs. I had odd things left from parties (party bags, pass parcel etc) as I always bulk buy in sales. Bags worth far more than eggs and I know the children will get a lot of pleasure from them. I really love doing stuff like that - in fact have to stop myself going OTT!

    8. last day of a course at primary school for parents of foundation stage children. We had a wonderful tutor and the kids joined us for activities every week once the parents' session was over. It was great spending quality time with DS2.

    9. got to visit the reception class where I volunteer on Tuesdays. Usually so busy but this time got to just sit with them and chat (observe for course purposes). One little girl gave me the Easter card she had made. Think they were meant for the family but she insisted and teacher said its fine. Fortunately girl's mum is a friend so she will be fine but even so!! I love those kids, some are so affectionate, it warms my heart.

    10. Rare NSD. Well done me!

This thread is therapeutic and good for the soul isn't it?

Hope everyone has a good night, some of you will be tucked up already. If your day hasn't been the best, you might be due some better luck tomorrow. Hope so...

    5 or so for today...

    1) Had a day at home, changed the bed, did 3 loads of washing etc.

    2) Booked train tickets online so we can go to the seaside at Easter. Annoyingly, the "out" tickets have the wrong time on. I don't know whether the station can swap them or if it even matters. Hmmm.

    3) Lovely, sunny day. It has gone a bit colder now so I've lit the stove.

    4) Tea was quite nice.

    5) Walked with one of my boys and 2 of MrN's (and his dogs) out of the village this evening.

    6) Smaller son's project on pirates is due in tomorrow so I cooked 36 ship's biscuits. I hadn't got any wholemeal flour so MrN went in search of some. He tried various other neighbours and eventually came back with the poshest flour I've ever seen - Sainsbury's Taste the Difference with all sorts of seeds in! I ran out of marg as I made 24 fairy cakes to go in the oven at the same time so the trays for the biscuits were greased with olive oil. They're not terribly authentic!

Think that's about it from here. Hope everyone else has had a good day.

I might be peaking early with my pleasures but feel the need to share!

1.I AM GETTING MY OWN CAR! might be old but has 4 wheels & a gear stick (most are automatic over here!) we have been looking for past few weeks & everytime we phoned they were already sold, so my lovely husband has been out this afternoon & got me a wee car...all for me ....and my son once he is 16 in June! So 2 months of mine all mine! This will make the biggest difference to my life......just need to get used to scary Melbourne traffic! get it next week.

    2. It's now the school holidays, school finished early for 2 1/2 weeks.

    3. School did a Crazy Hair day to raise money for Leukaemia Foundation, they raised $2000. 00 and 27 kids got their head shaved. One girl got her long hair cut......all gone! I'd tears in my eyes watching it! Then 1 teacher got his head shaved too. The atmosphere was palpable ....kids were so excited about everything.

4.Was in at school doing our PTA Easter Raffle, so that was another morning spent at school....don't need to see another raffle ticket for a while! We had a good return & luckily everyone was in when they got a phone call to say they'd won. No big Easter hampers for me unfortunately!!

5.Kindly got a run home this morning, then picked up again to go back for closing assembly, the got another run home with neighbour! It was 26o ,so nice not to have to walk in the heat!......soon be me offering lifts home!!

    Have a really good Friday!

    Morning

    Pleasures for yesterday:
    1. DD having a better nights sleep, she seems to be getting back to her normal self again. We know we will always have these periods with her but it doesn't make it any easier to see your child so distressed doesn't matter how old she gets.
    2. Let the guide leader know I had manged to get matched funding from work of £139 for some fundraising we did. She was very happy and planning the next fund raiser.
    3. Long chat on the phone with SIL
    4. Big pile of ironing done and more washing line dried
    5. Another 8 mile training walk, think they are getting easier.

Hugs to all who need them

Good morning everyone- I haven't been on for a bit as I thought that my OS pleasures were perhaps a bit repetitive! But this is an honest, sharing and very loving thread so here I am.
    Highlights:
    1. Got my central heating system replaced yesterday - the whole megillah. Rads, pipes, the lot. I'm disabled and get a disability allowance, so it was free, gratis, zilch. Part of me reflects on how useful this would have been a few years ago when I had to buy a cheap, inefficient boiler that gave me nothing but grief. Now I earn more working from home than I did then, the fact that I have become disabled - with severe arthritis -has entitled me to the new system.
    2. Coping with the disruption of all of the above. My son cleared the landing for me Monday which was the major job, then went to Tenerife on holiday (great timing, lol) I managed to roll back carpets and move bits and pieces myself and spent two nights sleeping in my riser recliner as my bedroom was so cluttered . I got changed into the next day's clothes and slept in them Wednesday night as I had a feeling the heating guys would be early - it was 7.30 am when they arrived! My hallway radiator has been out of action for years - I have a huge hallway and it is now warm.
    3. Son messaged me from Tenerife - he is having a wonderful time. He works so hard and he has never had an overseas holiday in the sun.
    4. Lunch with a friend who is helping me to tidy up this weekend. My cleaner comes on Monday too.
    5. I'm a huge fan of horse racing and it's the Aintree meeting... I don't bet, just love the sport, (and please, if you think it's cruel, don't launch a personal attack on me.... as has happened on other fora when I've mentioned racing ....)
    6. Lots of NSD's with son away!
    7. Sunshine ... spring. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land... Well ok, same old wood pigeons.
    8. Mother's Day was great...
    9. Good music, live, at the music club.
    10. Enjoying this session of counting my blessings... No, it's not all roses, and I'm not Pollyanna, but this thread gives you mental gardening gloves to deal with the thorns.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    Morning all!

CCP - glad you started to feel better, hope you've woken up full of the joys of spring! My cats enjoy making a noise too, though thankfully they've stopped it at night - don't think they appreciated their punishment of being shut in the kitchen lol!

McCulloch - thanks to you I've learnt something new, the plural of forum! I love watching the racing too, probably from all the time spent with my grandad when I was little! I've never thought about it being cruel, having known a couple of trainers and been around people who've always kept horses for ever I think they are generally treated very well, I can't imagine attacking anyone for wanting to watch the National! Anyway, post away, my pleasure are generally pretty much the same every day, but it never hurts to remind myself of the little things, and just because they happen a lot it doesn't mean I should appreciate them less!

Ladyhawk - hooray about the ticket!

Savingqueen - congrats on the new arrival, seems to be lots of babes arriving now, hope you get lots of cuddles soon!

mhagster - you beat me today lol! Fab news about the car, makes life so much easier and will give you so much more freedom for getting out and about. Sounds like you're really settling in now and meeting lots of new people.

Well I came home from work early yesterday, actually was only there just over an hour! Felt awful cos my blood pressure dropped again, always low, but gets lower when I'm pregnant! Anyway I went to bed and just slept, so must have needed it, then the girls arrived home and kept me company and fetched me drinks and food and generally looked after me! ds did a barbie for their tea, and it smelled wonderful, really summery with it wafting in and the breeze blowing through the window. Anyway feeling much better this morning and planning on taking things very easy today, as I have dd3's birthday party tomorrow, so will need some energy then - taking dd3 and 3 of her friends shopping, fairly easy as it's at an indoors mall so they can wander and I can sit and nurse a coffee, then she has a few more arriving in the evening for food and a sleepover - if the weather is nice I shall ask ds to do a bbq for them again!

My pleasures for yesterday/today so far:

    1. Being able to leave work and go to bed as I didn't feel great, and being looked after by my lovely children.

    2. Getting baby stuff put away yesterday, well most of it, so my bedroom no longer looks like a sub branch of Mothercare!

    3. Sun is shining again, and all windows are open.

    4. Going to reserve a large ironing board online from Homebase, pleasure being it is half price and that they have a further 15% off today!

    5. Also going to reserve a couple of raised veg beds, then I can plan what else to plant out in them.

    6. Hoping to pop to garden centre when ds gets back from college, half day today, so he can be the lifting and carrying muscle for me, I'd like to get a couple of rhubarb crowns.

    7. Catching up with an old friend by phone yesterday, so nice to hear from her, and planning a lunch after half term when she gets back from her hols.

    8. House still being relatively tidy, kids did some yesterday, and they seem not to have made too much mess - though that could be due to dd3 playing outside with her friends lol!

    9. Freezers and cupboards still being full - seems like the magic porridge pot almost!

    10. Watching Neil something on the history of Celtic Britain last night - the landscapes were absolutely amazing!

Have a great day all xx
