Caterina - I'll miss your lovely cheery posts, but completely understand what you're doing. Enjoy all that "free" time you're going to have
And look forward to reading about your many pleasures as and when you drop in to "see" us
Yesterday's many and wondrous delights
1. DD is definitely my best girl again, we had a lovely time yesterday
2. I was given a bike from a nice lady on Freecycle. Sadly it's going to be too small for me but will be perfect for a friend who is very keen to have it (just needs a saddle and the tyres pumping up and will be good to go)
3. Picked up our lovely friends from the station and even though we've not seen each other for a couple of years, straightaway it was as if it had just been a week or so. My friend is one of my oldest and completely understands about my mental health issues over the last couple of years and is a true chum. Her daughter is a year older than DD and it was the same for them, they just picked up where they left off and are having a fabulous time
4. We made a fabulous lunch and had a BBQ dinner in the garden - how fantastic to have a BBQ in April
5. We got out our "olympic" sized paddling pool (ok, not that big, but much bigger than last year's) and eventually managed to pump it up and put water in. Brrrr, but good fun, I even managed to sit down in it without squealing too much.
6. The laughter of the girls was infectious :0)
7. Bought the last bottle of cheapy prosecco in Lidl and it was scrumptious. Must go back in today to see if they've got a new delivery (fingers crossed!)
8. Lovely texts from OH and very exciting news, his son is going back home a day earlier than we thought, so I only have to wait to Thursday night for cuddles, yippee!!!
9. Remembered to put suncream on so no red faces in the Kittikins household
10. Thinking how happy I am to have such lovely friends, great sunshine, a fabulous partner and the best DD0 -
Morning all!
Sadly the rhubarb hasn't yet turned itself into crumble for me lol! But it is looking promising with lots of stalks sprouting on it!
My pleasures for the weekend/this morning:
1. Today is dd1's 16th birthday, seems such a short time ago that she was a little babe! She loved all her pressies, a fab pink Roberts retro radio from her dad and me - of which I'm a lil jealous, and make up, dvds, clothing and smellies - all bought in sales/offers, so much more than she would have had if I'd paid full price, which makes us both happy!
2. The glorious sunshine over the weekend, meaning that lots got done in the garden, including a spot of reading and chilling - well my blood pressure is still silly low so I'm following the midwife's advice and keeping horizontal when I feel iffy lol!
3. dd2 having a fab birthday shop and bbq and sleepover! Though I was slightly put out at one of the mum's not saying thankyou or even getting out of her car - no wonder her daughter was somewhat lacking in good manners!
4. Kids are now all on school hols, so no early starts for a while, though I woke up soon after 6am this morning lol! dd3 has woken up too early for her, and is probably still in need of catching up on sleep from Saturday, and is not in a sunny mood - hopefully this will improve after lots of sleep this week lol!
5. Arranging to catch up with some friends over the hols, not always easy with work, kids and life, but will be great to see them.
Hope everyone has a good day xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
evening all! first snow fall in the Victorian Alps (about 2 hours from here!), was on the news tonight, people scraping snow off their cars! brrrr!
I have been cold all day! Think we are renting a cold house! Was actually warmer outside than in the house. It is only single-glazing & no radiators, just vented floor heating & none in bedrooms......think I'll be checking out the winter threads! Anyway....
1.First day of school holidays, so apart from making 1 pack lunch for OH (& I had meant to do it last night.....note to self!) had a lazy lie in!
2.Did my wii fit, have got back into my routine again. I had re started back in January but it was so hot ,even first thing so gave up !
3.Kids & I all mucked in with the housework!
4.Had a wee snooze this afternoon!
5.My son went out for a cycle & saw about 40 kangaroos, so was most delighted!
6.All sat snuggled on sofa earlier on as we were all freezing! Put the nosiy heating on for half an hour! Curtains all closed & candles on....so we were then all cosy!
7.DD1 made spag bol & it was lovely but what was lovelier was I never made it!
8.Had a nice chat with my neice this morning.
Hope you all have a good start to the week.
Sparrer I hope you feel better soon, shingles can be such a horrible illness ! Take care and rest when you can.
Caterina you will have plenty pleasures to share with us when you come back! I admire your decision....I often think 'step away from the computer' but often just get lured back to it, for me at the moment it's a vital link to communicating with friends & family! Enjoy your time away in real life!0 -
It was my Grandparent's 40th Wedding Anniversary this weekend so I saw all my family on my dad's side which was lovely. Had one too many glasses of bubbley so suffering a little today. It is so very hard coming back down to real life after such a day of so much celebration and fun.
Past 2 days:
1. Organised all the bottles/jars/tubes in the bathroom. God I have so much to work through which is brilliant. Will save some money for a little while. I never need to buy body moisturiser again!
2. Managed to put the washing out today, it was chucking it down this morning. Good to get it out and drying all breezy.
3. The weather yesterday...down South with the family was stunning.
4. Seeing all my family together. There are a few oldies, my grandad included, who are getting to the stage where life is a little harder. It is really nice to see them enjoying themselves with all the different generations.
5. Good free food and booze at the party.0 -
Hi,
My pleasures for yesterday:
1. Another lovely day,weather-wise.
2. I weeded round the two rose bushes in the communual garden. They're looking good.
3. Managed a run.
4. Got some nasty jobs out the way:cleaning and defrosting the fridge-freezer and the ironing.
5. Made a big pot of veg and lentil soup.
Sparrer hope you're feeling better.
Caterina you will be missed!
Hope you all have a good evening x0 -
Evening all.
cat_g - it sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. I hope the nasty headache's gone by now.
mhagster - I'm getting decidely jealous of your autumn-ness - I love that time of year, with crisp leaves and snuggling down inside. I'm enjoying spring, of course, but I can't help wishing I could swap places with you. And as for seeing wild kangaroos - how cool is that?!
mummysaver - happy birthday to your DD - I hope she's had a lovely day.
Caterina - I can quite see why you've reached your decision, and I hope you enjoy your computer-free time. I look forward to seeing you whenever you feel like popping in.
sparrer - I hope you're doing OK today.
Ladyhawk - I hope you're OK, too, and your doctor was able to help you feel more like yourself again.
1) It looks like my unwise 'joke' last week might have done me some good after all, as I got in today to find a couple of colleagues had kindly covered some of my work for me while I was away. :A I don't think I'll try the experiment again, though.
2) HM veg chilli for lunch, and very nice it was too.
3) Reading everyone's pleasures on this thread - it's always wonderfully cheering.
4) Easy dinner of quesadillas tonight, using up various odds and ends from the fridge.
5) Putting together my mealplan for the next two weeks - it makes me feel all efficient, somehow.
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -

Marmiterules - Thanks it's getting easier now
You know,I was a twenty-a-day smoker for about 12 years, and stopped in July 2000.The Allen Carr book is what really helped me.I put on weight (but saw it as a fair trade-off for stopping the ciggies) and occasionally had the odd ciggie on nights out (but couldn't inhale!).Now that a fair amount of time has passed,it's particularly in these last few years that I find myselfl feeling so grateful that I stopped.I still literally rejoice in that feeling on a daily basis.
So pleased for you that it's going well.It really is one day at a time.Soon you'll look back and see that 2 months/6 months have gone by without a cigarette.:)0 -
Sparrer - I hope you are feeling better and its not shingles as it can last some time.
1. Lovely sunrise this morning.
2. Chat with a friend while walking my dog.
3. All ironing and washing done.
4. DS1 home at the moment hence lots of washing and ironing.
5. Hearing a cuckoo for most of the last week.0 -

Hi Marmite - I'd been smoking for the past 26 years and was going past the 40 a day point. I knew it was time to give up because I was having problems breathing and couldn't get rid of chest infections. My doctor had looked into me having COPD but the xray came back fine. Apparently the tests said I had the lungs of a 93 year old  Anyway back to the docs on Thursday for another check up.....I'm feeling a lot better so hopefully it's starting to clear upAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Evening all
It hasn't been the most pleasurable day. Got turned down for a job I applied for and my company said they didn't know how long they could keep me for - I do have some pleasures though
1) 15 parcels posted for ebay
2) 17 nicotine free days
3) Nice bit of Mr A Smart Price steak for dinner
4) Friends ringing and texting about the job situation - always nice to have a bit of support
5) Applying for some more jobs - I will be making a more concentrated effort now
Caterina - we will miss you - come back and visit when you can
Sparrer, CCP & Ladyhawk - hope you all get better soon
Hope you all had a good Monday.
