Morning all!
Frith - teenage boys can be an absolute pain, as well as protective and jealous - I speak from experience with that one! I hope that their dad has apologised for the bullying, whatever happens between you two, he should not be letting his boys get away with behaviour like that! My advice is to let each other cool off and think about things and then talk, but beware if he has already said that he didn't want a relationship, it sounds like the typical male get out, so that if you say anything they don't like they can come back with "well I did warn you...."! Small comfort I appreciate, but it sounds as though you have a close and lovely family, which is a great blessing. I hope that whatever happens that you and your boys are happy xxx
Rightyho, my five, or possibly more if I get carried away lol!
1. Trip to the garden centre, got some strawberry plants, lavenders, toms and a beautiful dicentra! As well as 3 self watering pots for my fruit bushes that I still hadn't planted despite having every intention! Got home and got everything except the dicentra planted, just need to decide where to put it first! Lavender has gone in front garden under the window, will smell lovely and requires minimal tending one it's established, also bought a dianthus and popped it in there too, I love old fashioned cottage garden plants that smell beautiful! Was also pleased to see a couple of dianthus still going strong, they were hidden under another plant, they were orignally a pressie and always make me giggle cos their name is "Slap and Tickle"!
2. Delicious roast dinner, and as it had started to rain by then, the kids didn't think it was such a bad idea compared to the bbq that they'd requested! But hey, mothers day so it was my choice lol! Pork was from the half pig we bought at Chrimbo, so a very cheap meal too, and loads left over, will have to get the mincer out methinks - which is a pleasure in itself, though possible only one for me lol!
3. ds trying to send me for a rest cos he thought I looked a bit frazzled, bless him, was just achey from bending and planting!
4. dd3 finishing her soft toy creation all on her own, school project but she'd bought it home as she was enjoying working on it so much, and it is a pressie for me and Spudette
5. Made delicious ciabatta yesterday, and caused much mirth as had thrown it in the BM to mix and forgotten about it for a little too long, resulting in it overflowing down the sides of the tin - it looked like it was taking over! Baked it off in the oven in my new Lurpark tins, and it smelled so good that ds decided to bake a camembert to go with one of the loaves, cue very happy children all munching peacefully!
6. dd1 feeling quietly confident about her art gcse today.
7. dd2 remembering to wash her PE kit, unfortunately she forgot to dry it, and it was never going to tumble in time, so dd1 lent her her kit - nice to see some cooperation between the two of them occasionally!
8. Having a lovely soak in the tub, and using some of the smellies that the kids bought me (I got a selection and was very very happy!), and the whole house still smells of the grapefruit shower gel and body cream, takes me back to being a teenager and spending my Saturday job wages in Body Shop!
9. Phone call from an old friend that I don't see very often, put the world to rights.
10. Texts from another old friend, giggling about silly things that had happened recently, and planning a get together over Easter
11. Realising that the dog was barking last night cos he'd got at his sack of dog food and spread it everywhere, last time he barked like that we discovered a rat had got in! Big relief to just find a huge mess instead lol!
12. Girls remembering to take out their cups and plates and glasses and yoghurt containers from the sitting room - has only taken years of nagging, but finally I'm getting somewhere!
13. dd3 loading Parallel Lines by Blondie onto her MP3, one of my fave albums, and I used to listen to it a lot in the car when she was little, who says you can't pass on good taste?!!!
14. Actually finding the charger for the laptop easily, so that I didn't lose this long list before I posted it!
Have a good day all xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Thanks, everyone.
5 for yesterday (Sunday).
1) Had breakfast in bed - porridge - made by bigger son.
2) Had lunch at my mum's.
3) Sister knew everything was going wrong so took my sons out for a long walk and I just sat on the sofa.:-(
4) My school friend came round in the evening.
5) Tasty tea although very simple - grilled trout, cous cous and carrots.0 -
Haven't had chance to catch up yet on all your posting over the weekend but will have a read later.
Mine for the weekend:
1. A lovely weekend away with OH to celebrate being together for 35 years. Just love being in each other's company even after all this time.
2. Finding some lovely areas not too far away from home where we could walk and chat.
3. Having lovely sea views from our caravan window, even if it was in the distance, but we had a couple of lovely sunsets.
4. All washing now done, just trying to get it dry so I can iron it later.
5. Little boy next door was 7 yesterday and as soon as we arrived home, he came out with some birthday cake for us. Told us it had been a football pitch. When I asked if mummy had made it, with the honesty of a 7 yr old, he said mummy can't make cakes but I like yours. Have offered help his mum make some easy cakes, especially when she told me she had paid £50 for his cake! Couldn't imagine ever paying that for a child's birthday cake.0 -
how much for a cake??? for that much id want it to be the size of the pitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all
Sparrer how lovely that so many people enjoyed the beautiful sunset!
Only afternoon but happy to record my pleasures for today:
1 - Woke up feeling much more energised than yesterday, perhaps all I needed was a day of doing very little (yesterday) and a good long sleep, which I got last night.
2 - Weather dry (if not too sunny) so two laundries done and possibly even a third, most of it will be hanging outdoors.
3 - The food delivery driver phoned this morning asking whether I would accept an early delivery, this was great because it meant having the food delivered and put away before lunch. Excellent!
4 - Made myself go to keep fit and really enjoyed the class. I am really happy that we have a substitute teacher. The usual one is pregnant and last time she had a terrible time of her pregnancy and a premature birth. I really wish her all the best and that this pregnancy goes fine, bless her - but her classes are terribly monotonous and boring so I kept not wanting to go because of this. The substitute is a fantastic teacher and her classes are much harder and more varied.
5 - Nice lunch, even if all by myself, because of the delivery I had all the ingredients to make a nice tuna salad and nutty yogurt for pudding.
Off to do some housework now, have a good day everybody xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
yay for the tooth fairy!does my bum look big in this sig?0

Afternoon, everyone. Just popping on to list some pleasures today:
1. The rain this afternoon. It made lovely ripples on the river.
2. Getting in to work this morning and finding a little seedling sprouting a couple of leaves on my cayenne pepper plant. There was nothing there when I left it on Friday night!
3. Finding some lovely gammon shanks on the butcher's counter at Mr M.
4. Having the motivation to do a little exercise when I got home.
5. Avoiding the coke machine!
Have a nice evening, everyone.

5 for today (so far).
1) MrN brought me a cup of tea round this morning. :-)))))
2) Got boys to school on time, clean uniforms, reasonably happy and (huge amounts of) homework done.
3) Drove over to the Long Mynd (Shropshire). I've driven past it lots of times but never walked up it. Quite tired now!
4) On the way to the L Mynd, I stopped at a roadside caravan cafe and had a sausage sandwich but neither I nor the owners had any change so I got it for free! If anyone uses the A49 near Church Stretton, can they pay £2.70 for me?! :-D I don't know when I'll be back up that way again.
5) Went to Ludlow's second hand shops and got Wuthering Heights for me and a story tape for the boys to listen to when they're in bed.
6) Pretty much on top of housework and the fire is going well.
7) Had the final, FINAL letter from MCS saying my debt with them is completely cleared. Such an incompetent company, it took them 3 months to send me that letter and I had to use the Financial Ombudsman to "encourage" them after my numerous phone calls and letters to remind them failed...
8) Got an email from my solicitor with the letter attached that she has sent to my ex-husband. Very well written and should give him a bit of a short, sharp shock - very necessary due to his recent behaviour :-(
9) My sister popped in.
That's all for now!0
