5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all.
1) I didn't have any bread to make sandwiches for lunch today, so I bought myself an Innocent veg pot instead: I've never tried one before but they were on special offer in Mr T's, and a colleague has been eating them all week and they smelt so good I gave in to temptation. The OS pleasure? Realising after a few mouthfuls that the pot's contents were tasty enough but I could do better myself, and for a much lower cost.
2) I got chatting to a lovely Italian lady in the supermarket, by the display of fresh figs (an expensive treat at this time of year, but what a treat!), and she recommended another type of fruit - persimmon - that I might like, and described how to identify a good one. It was so kind of her to share her knowledge and enthusiasm with a stranger. :T
3) Found a very large squash (the vegetable, not the fruit drink - and yes, I know a squash is really a fruit!) in the RTC section of the supermarket, but, when I got it to the till, there was nothing on it to say it was reduced. I asked, and got it reduced from £2.50 to 99p. :money:
4) Lovely, warm sunshine this evening, after a gloomy couple of days.
5) Chicken caesar salad for dinner tonight, to replace the one I didn't get to eat on my disastrous lunch with my sister last weekend. That one will go down in family history as the amazing swimming salad! (They didn't bother to dry the lettuce before putting it in the serving bowl, so the salad was sitting in half an inch of water.)
Have a lovely Friday evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all
1) Nice long lay in

7) Finally getting round to mopping the kitchen floor
I'm now off for a bath. Looking forward to a nice relaxing evening with a few drinkies. Hope you all had a good day and that all of you who are poorly are feeling a bit better.

Hi Everyone,
i have one big pleasure today an a few little ones.
1) I became an auntie for the first time when my FSIL gave birth to a gorgeous little boy weighing 8LB by C-section at 3.40pm. They have decided to call him Luca which is a definite relief given some of the names bandied about! All are doing well and my brother is for some reason posting pictures of his new cats on Facebook instead of the baby. Strange man.
So that was all very exciting.
2) Went for a walk at lunch time and bought a clematis, a tomato plant and cucumber plant from the market for £3.00.
3) Shared out some of the box of chocolate button that I had hidden in my drawers with my colleagues.
4) Lovely email from a lovely OS-er. Thanks for thinking of me.
5) I heard a talk recently done by a very passionate indian lady and one of her key themes was that we should do something every day for someone who will never be able to pay us back. I love that sentiment and took great pleasure when I was filling up my car (in itself definitely not the least bit pleasurable) being able to tell the elderly man in front of me that he had left his fuel cap off and the little door open. (in a nice way obviously!)
And a couple from yesterday
1) Our PR manager telling me that she though I was really lovey. She has clearly only ever seen me on a good day! It's so refreshing to hear someone give a genuine compliment.
2) Dinner at the Savoy - and I didn't embarress myself!
3) Being able to laugh as I walked into the hotel, the first person I saw was a lady wearing the same dress as me! Cheeky minx!
4) We won an award, partly in recognition for a project that I led earlier in the year.
5) And this one is very naughty.... I skived off most of the morning when I was working from home and managed to get a lot of cleaning done. I had to work late tonight as a result - but it was worth it.
Night all.
sleep tightMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
1. Ended the month with 17(!) nsd's
2. Still living on fridge/freezer/cupboard contents so there's been no need to go out. Running out of milk now though so looks like I'll have to tomorrow
3. Made a big beef casserole in the sc (overnight on Econ7, of course)which will make about 10 portions for the freezer. With extra veg and a jacket it's a good filling meal for a few pence
4. Advertised some bits on frecycle which have all gone, and sorted several boxes for a car boot sale in a couple of weeks.
5. My Vic plum tree is in blossom! It's a bit small and spindly as it's the first year but it's a start. The mogs are on patrol so the birds are leaving it alone, hopefully I'll get a few fruits from it this year.
Blimus hope you're all feeling better now
Frith sending (((hugs))) and blessings to you and your DS's. We've fortunately never experienced it but I know people who have and it must be horrible for you. Hope the school sorts it out [STRIKE]soon[/STRIKE] now. Pleased you've got your lappy back
CCP I agree. We practise OS so we can have treats, or it would be very boring!
Carolyntia well done on your first full week. 'They' say the first week is the worst, so looks like you've cracked it :j
Caterina, congrats on not getting the job. Sounds like working for your friend is going to be a much better place for you, no hassle and a more relaxed situation all round
shopndrop many congrats on 35 years :T. Have a super weekend, loved my touring days and miss them like crazy, so I'm secretly envying you just a little
Mhags pleased it's a little cooler for you. My dear friend was originally from Melbourne and once said the climate there is similar to UK, (but the other way round, of course). Seems from your posts that it's a lot hotter than our summers though!
Ooh congratulations Auntie Ladyhawk! How exciting :j. Typical man, posting pics of cats instead of the baby, ha ha. Hope you get to see them soon
Night night, sweet dreams

Worked from home today but here goes...
1. Lamb stew Day 2 ..... Yummy.
2. Two students of mine who were borderline, passing tests.
3. Talking to sister on phone and feeling her de-tense as she talked. She had read part of the eulogy at my sister in law's mother's funeral today.
4. An NSD. And I have vouchers to spend tomorrow. On hair things.
5. Using the lovely perfume 'found' behind a storage unit.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
For Yesterday:
1. Spending the evening with my lovely boyfriend.
2. Making a new recipe (Nigella's pasta with spinach and feta). It was good but I think we can make it better.
3. Arranging for mum to come and visit over Easter.
4. My old manager had her baby, a little boy called Patrick.
5. Watching a couple of episodes of The Walking Dead. It is soooooo good.0 -
Mine for yesterday are
1. A NSD
2. Tea was gammon with jacket potatoes, cauliflower cheese and the apple crumble. I am eating our way through the freezer.
3. I made a marmalade cake aswell to fill up the oven space.
4. Tidied the garden up and fitted masses into my recycling bin before they collected it. I normally end up gardening, where I create masses of waste stuff, just after the bin has been collected.
5. Managed not to list on ebay as I realised just in time that it was free listing this weekend.
6. Washing dried on the line.0 -
This thread is lovely - I'm trying hard to be more old style and 'make do and mend'
My 5 for today are:
1 - Washing done and blowing on the line - it's a lovely sunny day here after a few awful days of rain
2 - Very ripe bananas now made into loaf cake and in oven; HM biscuit dough in foil chilling in the fridge ready to cook and decorate with DS later
3 - Lunch was egg & cress sandwiches using cress grown on the kitchen windowsill by DS (2)
4 - Meal plan and shopping list done for next week
5 - large hole in DH's favorite sweater now repaired, and even though I'm complete novice at sewing I think I've done an ok job :T

Friday's delightfulness
1. A lovely friend gave birth to a beautiful daughterShe's a bit little and frail at the moment but hopefully will be home getting lots of cuddles from her Aunty Kittikins very soon!
2. A glorious afternoon with my beloved MrA *swoon* who then happily stayed at home whilst I went out on the lash with the girls!
3. A very generous friend of one of the girls turned up and bought us cocktails, bless him, he spent over £65 on us complete strangers (and his friend of course)
4. Had a very cheap night due to the above and other chums flashing their cash around! How could I say no.....
5. DD was well enough to go to school
6. Have arranged a sleepover for us with a lovely mummy friend and her cute children
7. My dad turned up with strawberries for DD (and me) to celebrate her being a superstar at school, very delicious too!
