Evening all.
I might be struggling for pleasures again tonight, I feel - I'm fed up (my new alarm clock seems to be faulty and needs to go back), stressed (partly my own fault - it wasn't a good idea to mention to the head of department that one of our department's policies is out of date, as the answer was "good thinking - can you sort it out, please?"), and headachey (a trip to the GP for a medicine review might be in order, I think
). But let's see:
1) The mog's fur has started to grow back where he was shaved for his blood test last week - he's got an adorably fuzzy patch now!
2) The pub I wrote a complaint to have replied, which is something of a surprise as my sister has worked with the company before in a professional capacity and was confidently expecting them to ignore me!
3) One of my current favourite dinners tonight - courgette and bacon pasta bake, the dish that finally convinced me courgettes could be tasty. (Admittedly only when cooked with so much bacon, garlic and cheese that you can't taste the courgette, but it's a start!)
4) Half a dozen interesting thing to watch on iplayer tonight - I just need to decide which one to watch first.
5) Got my DM's mother's day present all wrapped up without any 'help' from the cat.
shopndrop - could I second marmite's request for the melting moments recipe, please? I used to make them when I was at school and remember them being utterly
mhagster - if it makes you feel any better, I actually prefer autumn to spring so I'm mildly envious of you in Oz. I'll swap you some tulips for some pretty autumn leaves!
Tealady - I wondered who it was waving at me yesterday!I'll wave back now I know it was you - :hello:
Kitchenbunny - of course I don't mind you borrowing the bean bake idea. I just hope you enjoy it!Back after a very long break!0 -

6. Bought Mother's Day cards for my mummy from me and DD
7. Had a lovely dinner of omelette using a couple of my YS eggs.

8. sold a DVD on Amazon for £2 when I bought it for 50p0 -

5) Good nights sleep last night

Hi Everyone,
Let me try to remember my messages from yesterday...
1) NSD
2) Had a gorgeous massage and facial with my friend L using cheapo vouchers from last minute.com.
3) L bought me dinner at Pizza xpress, using a voucher obviously. I had a really yummy giardinera pizza with anchovies. Absoutely delicious!
4) The cup cakes I took into the London office were very well recieved
5) Was invited to join our Exec for dinner tomorrow night at the Savoy!! Yeeha! I'm the only minion who has been invited so its a tad intimidating. Needless to say I will be on the sparkly water all night!
Now to try to remember what I did today...
1) Went shopping and bought a gorgeous new dress for tomorrow. Its a dark greeny blue satin fitted floor length evening dress with spagetti straps. I tried on all the long evening dresses in TK Max that were in my size an this was the only one that fitted me properly... and it was the cheapest one!
2) My lovely colleague J offered to lend me one of her dresses, but sadly she is a skinny minx and the dresses were just a smidgin too small. But it was so nice to be trusted enough to be lent a dress.
3) Recieved a gorgeous bunch of flowers for arranging an event a couple of weeks ago. I was just doing my job - but it was nice to be recognised.
4) Cake samples in the office... I had a slice of lemon meringue pie and a slice of red velvet cake... and that is why I can't fit in J's dresses... she didn't have one slice!
5) Bought a very cute photo album and hand print set for my now over due neice or nephew from the M&S outlet store, so saved about a 1/3 on the price.
6) Booked tickets for J and I to go to a singles party in London in a couple of weeks. She is a single mum and I think she is just wonderful and will make some very lucky man very happy... pity her husband didn't realise this when he walked out on her when her daughter was 2 months old.
Night all... will post again on Friday.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening, everyone. Thanks, CCP I'll definitely use it.
Here's my pleasures for today:
1. Spent a pleasant evening at Mum's
2. She gave us a lovely tea - mm, stir fry!
3. An NSD! WHOO!
4. Have spent a bit of time sewing.
5. I now have a to do list and feel on a bit more of an even keel, which is nice.
Whew, got a few more things to do, so I'll sign off now. Have a lovely evening, everyone.

Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. Sorting some banking out today as my regular saver was at the end of the high interest rate. Need to open a new regular saver account but they were rubbish in branch today so will have to go back.
2. Taking advantage of the clintons free £5 body shop voucher when you bought a gift card. Had to buy something from M&S today so bought the gift card to get the voucher :money:
3. Preparing the huge bag of chicken breasts I bought on Monday and freezing into lots of meal size portions.
4. DD helping prepare dinner plus doing some other jobs to help out.
5. Long chat on the phone with my SIL.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
I'm afraid I can't list many OS pleasures as it's been rather an expensive day, but very pleasurable nontheless! So just for today, a mixture of OS and guilty pleasures...
1. Bought two black hand towels for my new kitchen, and washed them with some black trousers and sox which has given them a new lease of life
2. Picked up DD and DGD as DGD had an orthodontist appointment and the weather was foul, so saved them having to get trains. Then went out to lunch...
3. ...which was a sharing platter followed by an enormous cream, ice cream and chocolate pudding, one pud and three spoons
4. DGD is having her room redec'd so we went to look for items for it. Saw a lovely furry zebra patterned throw (she's mad about zebras) which I bought for her. Spoilt brat. Played hide'n'seek among the the stands in the shop - a grandmother, daughter and 14 y/o DGD who should know better. Great fun!
5. Returned a curtain rod as I'd bought the wrong sort, got my money back and bought a tension one on ebay for less.
Congratulations Carolyntia on another smoke free day, you're doing great! It's four years today since I stopped, can't believe it's gone so quickly.
Night night, sleep tight

Sparrer - what a fabulous day, especially the game of hide and seek
I hope that DD and I will do the same when she's 14 or a mummy of a 14 year old

5oz marg
3oz castor sugar
Cream these together then add
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5oz SRF
I just whizz these together using my hand mixer.
I then put some jumbo rolled oats in 1 bowl and some dessicated coconut in another. (only do the oats as OH doesn't like coconut)
Roll walnut size pieces of the mixture in either the bowl of oats or coconut, place on a baking tray and I top the oaty ones with a couple of cranberries and the cococut ones with a half cherry.
Bake for about 10-15 mins until golden brown. I do them at 180 in a fan oven.
Make sure you plenty of room between them as they do spread when cooking.
Enjoy.
Back later with my pleasures for today.0 -
Hi, been a nice day again, bit of a cool breeze but still sunny.
1. Nice walk to & from school, listening to the birdies and enjoying the flowers. Lavender seems to be having a second bloom. It's one of my favourite plants so nice to see it blooming again.
2.Was most industrious today ,having not done much this week!
3.Read my book for a while & a wee 40 winks! Was awoken by dd1 phoning to say she'd got on the wrong bus! Yikes! However, she got off, crossed the road & walked back to the next bus stop and arrived home safely!
4. I got caught up on paper work! They like their forms over here!
5.Went to nearest town when kids came in, DD1 has a birthday do at weekend, so had to buy a gift, had some food & found a new clearance clothes shop which was so cheap! Got girls some shorts & a top.
Home & set them to work in the garden dead heading agapanthus! Garden bin tomorrow which was empty so needed filling!!
Have a good day!0
