Morning all!
Happy birthday mhagster!
My blessings for the weekend, yesterday and so far today:
1. The glorious sunshine over the weekend!
2. ds mowing the front and back lawns and it all looking so much tidier, then he even cleaned the patio, so that we could have a bbq on Saturday evening, thankfully the rain held off till after it was all cooked
3. Lovely lovely sales assistant in Boots, who helped put through all my pregnancy vouchers and other assorted offers, ensuring I came home with three large bags stuffed full of baby things and other bits, and reducing the bill from £170 to £40 (and £20 of that was some shaving stuff I'd picked up for my best friend, so I got my money back, and as it was Clinique stuff I also got a free gift, which will go to dd1 as a little extra to unwrap on her birthday in a couple of weeks).
4. Feeling nice and organised, for once, as I have got most of the baby bits! And thanks to this site and assorted vouchers and codes have actually spent very little compared to what I expected to pay! Girls chose some baby clothes, and were so excited it was lovely, bless them.
5. Cinema with best friend last night using 40% off Odeon voucher, film wasn't that good, but it was a cheap night out! And more good news is that he's finally got together properly with another friend of ours, I'm so pleased as he seems much more settled and happy, and also as she's already a friend there's no need to explain that we are just good friends!
6. Getting all three dds new school skirts, not really very money saving, but was done with minimum fuss or pain!
7. Friend who has moved to Cornwall has a very supportive new doctor, and her pain is now under control a little more, and hopefully an operation will soon be sorted out so that she will be in no pain.
8. ds cooked me dinner last night, he is most concerned to make sure that I'm eating properly!
9. dd2 curling dd1's hair last night so that she could have waves for school today, she was a very happy girly as she skipped off to school today!
10. Lovely customers at work, despite it being a day of disasters, everyone retained their good humour!
11. Spudette kicking away all night, not exactly a pleasure to be kept awake, but so lovely to feel her dancing!
12. ds bathing smelly dog, he looks much cleaner and smells much less now, though he does look like one of those "I washed it last night and can't do a thing with it" cartoons as he's now all fluffy!
13. Getting some lovely carnations reduced yesterday as I finished work, and dd1 arranging them for me.
14. dd1 beginning the painting of her room, looking much brighter already! Also means she tidied it!
15. Not being at work today, so I can mooch about and do things at my own pace!
Have a lovely day all xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

Night x0 -
Happy birthday mhagster - hope you have enjoyed your day.
Struggling a bit today but here goes:
1. Been out since early this morning at my elderly aunt's. She has tree roots under her lawn and patio but the tree is on council owned land the other side of her garden. Men came to do job, started then realised they were not on council land, so technically not insured so left after starting to dig up the lawn. I couldn't believe it. They have now phoned to say coming back tomorrow to leave it safe for her to go outside.
2. Called to see mum and dad and got some more HM scones that dad had made. Really do need to ask him to stop making them as we just eat them, doesn't help with weight control.
3. A very helpful MSE'er has sent me some details to help with my family history. Hopefully, I will now be able to move on again.
4. Pizza dough in BM ready for tea tonight.
5. Looking forward to a phonecall this evening from DS and GF to tell me how good their holiday was and have a good old catch up.
Just wish my dreadful headache would disappear.0 -
Evening all.
mhagster - sorry it's a bit late, but I hope you had a fantastic birthday.
Carolyntia - it's lovely to hear from you - welcome back!
Mine for today (after a great deal of thought, I must confess!):
1) Woke up this morning to the sound of rain - a pleasure as the garden needed watering and now I don't have to do it.
2) I made a loaf of bread last night that was shaping up to be a disaster - the dough was far too dry and needed loads of extra water to stop the bread machine grinding to a halt. Of course, it's turned out to be one of the nicest loaves I've made in a long time - I bet I can't do it again, though!
3) Took a packed lunch to work, which I don't always get around to.
4) Coming home to a nice, warm flat - it was decidedly chilly at work today.
5) Easy dinner of spicy bean casserole with garlic toast topping - it sounds complicated but is basically beans on toast turned upside-down!
As always, have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Happy Birthday, Mhagster! Hope you're having a great day
Here's my pleasures for today:
1. Someone had bought in some homemade cake pops at work and left a sign saying "help yourselves" I had a lovely plain sponge cake ball dipped in milk chocolate and covered in funky purple sprinkles - ace!
2. The sunshine.
3. Pretty much stuck to what was on my shopping list.
4. Had put a gammon shank in the slow cooker overnight and was pleased to wake up to cooked meat. That's now prepped and in a chicken & bacon pie
5. Finally getting around to watch the recorded Waking the Dead episodes from aaages ago. Yes!
Have a nice evening, everyone. CCP your dinner sounds lovely! I'll give that one a go, if that's OK.
