    Morning all!

My pleasures for yesterday and today:

    1. ds sending me a funny text that made me roar with laughter!

    2. dd1, dd2 and dd3 all being in very good moods this morning and extremely co-operative! Makes morning so much easier.

    3. Spudette's daddy being all misty eyed about having a daughter! Think his whole issue is that he likes to control everything in his life, and is used to being in charge the whole time, and this is something he has no control over, also I'm a lot more laid back about things than him, which he finds hard to know how to handle! Anyway things went reasonably well and we are still talking lol!

    4. Eating leftover cauli cheese for breakfast this morning, might not be everyone's choice, but it was delish! I hasten to add that it was only me who ate it, I didn't dish it up to the kids, though they'd probably have eaten it too!

    5. Getting some cheese on buy one get two free when I finished work, so it worked out at £1.50 per 350g block, and getting some ys new potatoes for 16p a bag!

CCP - another good way of using up courgettes if you have a glut or someone gives you some, is to grate them then freeze in handfuls, they can then be chucked into almost any dish, especially mince based ones, they bulk it out, increase the veg content and become invisible!

Have a good day all xxx

Horrid, horrid day yesterday. Made tea for everyone and MrN's sons (well, the majority) were vile to smaller son. And relentlessly vile. :-( Then bigger son had a long chat with smaller son about why he has basically gone into retirement at school (he is doing no work whatsoever) and it turns out that he is being bullied there too. Unfortunately, with his various problems, smaller son is always going to be first in line for that sort of treatment. I felt very sad about it all last night.

So I had to talk to MrN last night about his sons, which was a bit awkward. I don't think he really understood how bad it has been getting. :-(

Anyway, 5 for yesterday then a couple for this morning as my laptop STILL isn't back!

    1) Popped into Sainsburys, son-free and had a quiet shop.

    2) Pretty much on top of housework etc.

    3) Bigger son went to karate and is getting on well.

    4) Told bigger son off at great length for his part in the bullying of smaller son. Then got in the bath and was amazed to hear bigger son talking to smaller for ages about what is wrong at school, what he should do about nasty L (the bully) and how he should think about working harder :-D Bigger son then taught smaller son some karate moves, not quite sure that was wise but they both enjoyed it!

    5) MrN came round. Rather a difficult conversation but he didn't run away. :-)

    Some for today so far:

    1) Took both boys to see the nurse about their nails! Smaller son's nail bed was so mangled (from being shut in the car door) that it may never grow back but there is no infection so its going the right way.

    2) Dropped them off at school a bit late and chanced upon smaller son's TA and told her about the bullying and she listened well and will sort it out. :-)

    3) Have hoovered out and washed the car. That's its annual clean!

    4) Sitting outside mum and dad's in the sun, although it's blowing a gale.

    5) Might make some brownies later.

    Mine for yesterday are

    1. Good walk with a friend which we finished seconds before it started raining.

    2. hm lasagna for tea with plenty left to freeze

    3. Sewed up DS2 trousers.

    4. Finished the ironing.

    5. The roadworks have finished. I can now go out without long detours.
  • It's a bit hard to think of any pleasures today since norovirus has been rife in our household this past week. Last night was DS2's turn to vomit all over the carpet in our bedroom!

    Let's think...

    1) Booked a trip to London for next week to visit the Science Museum, Maritime Museum and the Planetarium. Might even try taking the river bus to Greenwich.
    2) Trip will cost considerably less than we thought as FIL will drive us into the centre from North London.
    3) Lovely bean burritos (pre DS2's sickness)
    4) DS2 was immediately more chipper after puking! Plus it was actually quite nice to read to him at 5.30 this morning before he got back into bed.
    5) Very windy out but nice and warm in the sun. Washing is flapping wildly on the line at the moment.

Okay, so that wasn't so hard :D

Big hugs Frith, I was horribly bullied at primary school, and hate to hear of others suffering like I did. Hope the TA and school will crack down on it hard and fast.

    1. NSD - well it will be as apart from putting some recycling out, I don't think I'll be leaving the house all day!
    2. DD was feeling under the weather (I think she's just very, very tired and run down) so she's off school and we've been watching TV most of the day and cuddling, singing silly songs
    3. Exchanging saucy messages with MrA, sounds like he's starting to feel better from his man flu, an OS pleasure as we were chatting on facebook so *free* rather than texts :);)
    4. Looking forward to succeeding at a very financially tight month, I can, will and MUST get through it without going into overdraft.
    5. Did a Pinecone survey this morning, so looking forward to my £4 LV coming through :)
    6. Can't wait for dinner, baked potatoes cooked in the Remoska slurp, yum
    7. Have been told about a great website on another thread, makeitandmendit.com and now really want to make a cake stand using old plates and it could be the perfect use for a few unchipped plates from my grandparents' dinner service that I have in the cupboard, unable to bear the thought of throwing them away :):)

    So for yesterday:
    1. It was light when I got our of work. I never like loosing my hours sleep but it is always worth it in the end!
    2. Made mum's card for Sunday (sent it today too!). It was a cross stitch butterfly and looked lovely.
    3. Had a beer in the garden with the boy while showing him what me and mum planted last summer while he was away.
    4. Made really good rice. Sounds silly but I find it really hard to make and this one time it was light, fluffy and very tasty.
    5. NSD:money:

    Evening all.

Kittikins - hope your DD feels better for her day at home. :)

Blimus - I hope you all get over the nasty bug soon.

Frith - I was also horribly bullied at shcool so I hope you manage to get that sorted out for your poor DS very quickly. Hugs to you and him!

mummysaver - thanks for the courgette tip. I think the only way I'm ever going to like the things is when they're buried in something else and I can't really taste them! ;)

shopndrop - thanks very much for the recipe - I remember them being oaty rather than coconutty when I was at school. I'll definitely have to try making a batch when my weight's sunk a bit more. :o

sparrer - it sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday. Who cares if it wasn't entirely OS - we all need a day off from it occasionally! :)

Ladyhawk - I hope you have a lovely evening in such a posh hotel. WD on finding a bargain dress for it, too! :money:

    Mine for today:

    1) It looks like my alarm clock won't need to go back after all - when I woke up this morning the fault had vanished, and it's still vanished after I've been out at work all day. Fingers crossed it says that way!

    2) Low spend day, and would have been an NSD except I needed to post my DM's mother's day present.

    3) Got home to find the smoke alarm in the main building going off, so I popped in to make sure no-one was on fire and got chatting to another resident. Normally we all work such different hours that we don't see each other so it was really nice to meet another tenant for a change.

    4) Finding my gloves in my coat pocket when I left work - it's taken a turn for the seriously chilly today!

    5) Cuddles with my puddy tat when I got home - it seems the chilly weather has tipped him back into his winter cuddle mode.

    6) The coastal fog horn going off while I'm typing this. I just love the noise it makes for some reason. :D

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Shopndrop thanks for the recipe.I don't know if I've ever had these, but hope to make them soon. They sound yummy.

    Evening all

    1) Day 6 of no nicotine....cravings are getting less
    2) Appointment at community hospital for an xray. Wonderfully efficient I was in and out in 5 minutes
    3) Went and joined my little local library and got 4 books out
    4) Looking at the library catalogue online and ordering 2 more books that I want to read
    5) Getting home at the same time as the postman arrived to deliver a parcel - saves a trip to the post office.
    6) The rain stopping and the sun coming out this afternoon
    7) Day off work
    8) House is still tidy
    9) Lots of reading - its great to get back into it

Sparrer - Thanks...I honestly thought it would be a lot harder. Maybe it's because I was ready to give up.

Have a good evening. Hugs to all those that need them.

    C x

ETA 10) Had a phone call from a local company who'd seen my CV online asking me if I was interested in a job with them. They're sending me details so fingers crossed that it's better than the one I've got.

Have read a lot but not posted in this thread - hope you don't mind me adding my two penn'orth! :)

It's heart-warming to see what things delight so many people; I'm glad I started reading now!

Despite things starting to get rather tough for us, I've still managed to find some little pleasures:

1: Weeding & digging holes in the garden (for apples trees) whilst littlies ran around like mad things!

2: Got a couple of my fave books to re-read from the library plus some free, hand-me-down brand-new novels from a friend - all my week's reading sorted now.

3: Got 2 huge loads of washing line-dried - it's been about Force 8 here all day, but dry and sunny!

4: When going through clothes before washing I found a £5 note in my jeans' pocket - yippee! :rotfl:

5: Managed to get carpet and new bed priced for DS (19) - carpet £110 fitted, bed £290 and base has to be specially made as it's a funny size - think both prices are pretty good.

Think I'll be back again; finding positive things in my day, amidst the financial gloom and general business of life, is strangely compelling!

    A xo
