Welcome back Frith, good to see you posting.
Ladyhawk, congratulations of the cake wins0 -
Hi all
Nich29580 welcome to the thread!
CCP good wishes re. your cat's visit to the vet.
Ladyhawk, amazing cake, no wonder you won in both categories, many congratulations!
Mummysaver, looking forward to news following scan!
mhagster, good luck in finding the perfect job, I agree wholeheartedly, unless in desperate need it is worth it holding out for something good, especially after doing all the bit jobs waiting for the moment when you have more choice!
Frith god to see you back and sorry to hear about the trouble with your sons, I hope that things will improve for you. Well done for still finding a lot of pleasures in life even after having difficult times. Also glad that your relationship with MrN is back on course.
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - Early start, made packed lunch for DH and had breakfast with him. He is enjoying the low carb and feeling much less bloated!
2 - Then back to bed for a long lie in and a cuddle with DD and DS who both came to say good morning. Ahh it was lovely, baby-sandwich (DD one side, DS on other and me in the middle) like when they were babies. We had a laugh remembering how we used to play "Hippopotamus" which was all of us under the covers and then coming up and throwing covers all over the place, making lots of noises of AGHHHHHH if hippos (or NAKNAKNAK if crocs) like if we were coming up from the riverbed to the surface. Lovely memories!
3 - Excellent lunch which included our first full crop of leaves from the front garden, a garlic-chili sautee of mixed beet, kale, radish and chard leaves. Delish - DD said that it is "better than chocolate", that's a big compliment coming from her! DS asked if we can plant more of the same leaves in both front and back garden (of course!).
4 - DH's martial arts suits washed and out in the garden to dry.
5 - I am loving the weather, off to muck about in the garden now.
Have a good evening all x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Good to hear from you, Frith.
(hugs)
Well done, Ladyhawk!
Here's my pleasures for today:
1. Found a pair of nutcrackers in Mr M reduced from £2 to 68p. I had to, really, as we don't have a pair and you never know when you might need it.
2. Got a free sample of perfume through the post. It's beautiful!
3. The sun was out!
4. The incredible peaceful feeling I get from gardening has stayed with me all day. How weird! Still, it'll be good for the garden. I've got a new fork now so weeds watch out!
5. Saw a little rabbit on the roundabout joining the motorway this evening. Makes me feel all spring-y (if you know what I mean - happy it's spring, not bouncy)
Have a good evening, everyone. Got to move the car in a bit, but then I don't think I'm going anywhere for the evening. A nice hot bath and perhaps black bean prawn stir fry for tea with some noodles - yum. Anyway, have a good evening, everyone.
KB xxTrying for daily wins, and a little security in an insecure world.0 -
1. Walking the dog in the sunshine this morning
2. Making a tasty cauli cheese with pancetta.
3. Having a nice clean , dry load of line dried washing.
4. Watching the guinea pigs jump with joy when I put them out to graze.
5. Making popcorn for the kids when they came home from school ......0 -
Hi Everyone,
Hope you are well.
Jammygirl - I love the image of your guineapigs!
1) My cake wins! :j:j:jI got the Best monster prize for the dragon (it was the only entry in the category so it was unsurprising!) and best cake for the red velvet cupcakes. They really didn't want to give the same person two prizes, and I felt slightly guilty for about half a second!!
2) My second piece of good news is.... drum roll please... I got my car back!!!:j:j:j
3) My gorgeous daffs have opened and look so yellow and cheerful
4) Curly fries at lunch - gotta love curly fries!
5) Arranged free tickets to see a band that I really like at a festival in July...:T
Night night all
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening all.
Ladyhawk - I'm not at all surprised your dragon cake won - I'm sure it would have won against any competition. And yes, I'm totally with you on curly fries. (I want curly fries for dinner now, which is a shame as I haven't got any.
)
Jammygal - I read somewhere that the technical term for guinea pigs' leaps of joy is "popcorning" - appropriate, really!
Frith - it's good to have you back with us.I'm glad that things are ticking along bearably, at keast.
mummysaver - chicken and ham pie is one of my favorites, too. Can I have a slice, please?
My pleasures for today:
1) Stepped on the scales this morning and they said I had lost 3kg since the weekend. I don't think that can possibly be right but I'm going to pretend it is to make myself happy.
2) Sunshine all day, and so warm that I didn't need a coat at lunchtime.
3) NSD.
4) Bought a birthday card at lunchtime (from department funds rather than my own which is why it's still an NSD) and got a load of vouchers with it - some for 2 for 1 entry to various family attractions, which I passed on to a colleague for her grandchildren, and one for £5 off any book, which I've kept for myself. (A bit naughty of me, perhaps, but if anyone else ever helped out with buying the department's birthday cards then they could have got the voucher instead.)
5) Spoke to my manager about my excessive workload and, while she hasn't actually cut anything out, she has at least promised I won't be asked to do anything else for a while. I'll accept that as a compromise!
6) Found a portion of moussaka in the freezer which I'd completely forgotten about, so that's dinner sorted.
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. Frith's back amongst us
Welcome back buddy!
2. Lovely sunny day
3. Managed to do some gardening (ok, pulling up of weeds) after school with DD assisting with a "magic stick", imperiously pointing at what needed pulling up!
4. Ate very healthily today for a change, wonder if that's why I have a splitting headache now, or if MrA has just kindly 'passed over' his headache, sharing the wealth as it were, lol.
5. Good swim at lunchtime
6. Good bargains in Tesco's, including very yummy tuna slices in lime sauce which were down to 24p. Might have to go back and get some more as I had some earlier and it was deeelicious
7. MrAhaven't seen him but am feeling very chirpy about seeing him Thursday afternoon *swoon*
8. Watching Hairy Bikers and texting with MrA0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. Washing out on the line before work and all dried by the time I got home. Most of it doesn't need ironing either so a bit less work.
2. Organised two big meetings at work today that both had nice lunches so I had a free lunch today and managed to put some away for tomorrow.
3. Felt really tired today so haven't been on a training walk but did walk home from work.
4. Tasty dinner of Cashew nut fried rice and crispy chilli chicken  which everyone enjoyed
5. Booked hotel for friends DD's wedding in may and managed to get the room cheaper than the prefered rate offered to wedding guests:money:
